Scaling Riddle me this

Which anti-speed feat is better? Both are trying to move as fast as they can, yet they look like they're moving at normal speed. The question is are they both slow, or is it just Kratos who's slow? Lol And you need to base this off of what you see, not lore or chain scaling. And you can't cite other in game feats because only anti-feats matter here. If Kratos' very clear speed feats dont matter, then neither do Asuras.

Asura appears to be moving significantly faster while climbing vertically than Kratos is while sprinting across flat terrain.

yet they look to be moving at normal speed

Ashura is climbing so it's vastly different than walking or running but that's very fast climbing idk how that's normal speed.

Kratos is sprinting. Kinda weird to compare sprinting to climbing

Edit: Also this is pretty early Ashura, his high metas aren't even from here. This is like less than halfway through the game it's like episode 6 or 7. Kratos's high speed metas are way before even God of War 2018 or Ragnarok

Kratos has never displayed speed feats. Homie has regular ass movement speed.

"infinite speed" Kratos btw who took a long time to swim across a sea over boat. Kratos' boat breaking through the concept of time with the sheer velocity of his paddling be like:

u/Puzzleheaded_Buy_946 3d ago

And I hate how people say this, like the video game isn't for the experience. What's the point of them creating a detailed world if Kratos just travels there instantly?
like we literally know Thor can fly, yet they made him walk with Atreus just to experience the journey.

15

u/Novel_Ant8075 Re:Zero Scaler 3d ago

I'm not even talking about something that happens in the game, he swam to the place in between games on a boat.

But I mean yeah that doesn't contradict the point of discussion, it's just silly for a character with supposedly infinite speed (this is a real argument) to have travel times.

8

u/Wodelheim 2d ago

Never heard someone describe boat travel as swimming before.

Brother, there are 3 types of speed in powerscaling: travel speed, reaction speed, and combat speed.

The argument for infinite speed in GoW comes from the Underworld being stated to be infinite, while Hermes is capable of traveling through it. On top of that, Helios' light is illuminating the entire Underworld, and Kratos was literally able to block/react to Helios' light. And we already saw what happened to Hermes.

But even if you don't accept the Underworld argument, we have another feat: Thor knocking Jörmungandr through time. That's not a hax ability—the attack itself physically sent Jörmungandr through time.

At the lowest, these guys are immeasurable.

u/Novel_Ant8075 Re:Zero Scaler 3d ago

Not only are you iterating something commonly known and simple, but you're also wrong in your explanation. There's more categories of speed than that. Travel speed and combat speed are generalized terms and combat speed is often composed of multiple categories. There is reaction speed, perception speed (which comes before reaction speed, reacting to something isn't the same as perceiving it), attack speed, and one could break it down into simpler, more specific facets like short range movement speed, and so on. It's not just 3 universal categories that always stay the same between every discussion. Atomic Samurai in OPM is way slower than Flashy Flash from the same verse in literally every way besides the sole ability of being able to replicate extremely quick sword slashes in great succession. Hell, a direct example is in Hunter X Hunter, where Netero explicitly is slower than Meruem in literally every capacity besides the movement of him bring his hands together into a prayer stance, that sole motion is faster than everything else.

"The argument for infinite speed in GoW comes from the Underworld being stated to be infinite, while Hermes is capable of traveling through it. On top of that, Helios' light is illuminating the entire Underworld, and Kratos was literally able to block/react to Helios' light. And we already saw what happened to Hermes."

I'm aware of all of this already, this isn't new to me and doesn't contradict what I said.

If Kratos can move any of his body parts to intercept something moving at literal infinite speed, that means he can move at infinite speed, you can no longer make any distinctions because it's fucking infinity.

A person with infinite speed could inhabit every individual space in the entire universe simultaneously, time becomes almost irrelevant. Which should render any distance completely irrelevant. You'd need to be pretending that only specific parts of his body could move at infinite speed, which is so fucking silly it's not even worth entertaining as a concept.

"But even if you don't accept the Underworld argument, we have another feat: Thor knocking Jörmungandr through time."

That's not a speed feat, it's an unquantifiable AP feat.

"At the lowest, these guys are immeasurable."

Good to know the authors wrote the story with the thought process that Kratos can actually run into the past and stop his family from being killed at any point because he's so fucking fast that linear time no longer exists in any meaningful form to him and he can access any point in the universe's dimensional axis instantly at any moment if he wills it.

The sheer level of blatantly ignoring the most basic forms of common sense and logic here is just...breathtaking.

And I thought lore Spartans get wanked.

6

u/Largo23307 2d ago

GoW fans have to stretch so far to create feats. Yes create.

Shielding your eyes from a light source, something that literally anything with eyes and arms could do, is somehow considered a light speed feat for Kratos.

By this logic, Everytime I block the sun from hitting my eyes, makes me FTL.

It's insane what they come up with and call it a feat.

Here's is a Gif of someone duplicateing this amazing light speed "feat" of blocking the suns light!

Damn only Kratos or a pair of sunglasses could pull off this amazing speed feat!

u/ImpracticalApple 2d ago

We have to scale them to the load times of the PS5.

u/UnAnon10 3d ago

The same thing can be said for Asura too TBF. Light Speed Asura when he has to chase a gorilla that kidnapped the girl he was protecting and can’t catch up to it be like:

6

u/-ImJustSaiyan- 2d ago edited 2d ago

Except that was immediately after he had just resurrected so he wasn't 100%, and he was trying not to accidentally hurt said girl since she looked exactly like his daughter. And if you actually watched the chase you're talking about you'd know that Asura does end up catching up to it.

Not to mention it was early on in the game and Asura gets significantly faster as the game goes on. And by the end of the game he's dodging massive universe crossing lasers with ease. Can you post Kratos ever moving this fast?

6

u/-ImJustSaiyan- 2d ago edited 2d ago

This is the thing every GoW glazer loves to ignore lmao. Like yes, no shit every character in fiction has anti-feats, the difference is that they also usually have feats to back up their scaling.

The Flash getting hit by Robin is an anti-feat, but he also has plenty of feats of him actually displaying insane speed, so the speed scaling he gets is believable because we've at least seen him move that fast on several occasions.

Meanwhile GoW wankers can't provide a single clip of Kratos moving like a speedster without Hermes boots, and even with those he isn't FTL. The issue isn't simply that Kratos has anti-feats, the issue is that he has anti-feats AND lacks the feats to backup his scaling.

Not to mention his "anti-feats" are so plentiful in his series that at some point they stop being anti-feats and start just being how he's consistently portrayed.

8

u/-ImJustSaiyan- 2d ago

I challenge GoW fans to post Kratos moving this fast.

Processing img xpcm2nld0imh1...

Or this fast.

hate how ppl say this as if kratos wasnt doing this casually in all his games

18

u/Largo23307 3d ago

Did you even watch your own clip? lol
He's completely stationary in the monsters mouth, and swinging around the blades of chaos.
Then he jumps out.
Jumping out of the mouth was his only movement lol.

Nothing about that is a speed feat.

1

u/Standard-Pop6801 2d ago

That proves that he is a problem when he catches up to you.

0

u/Fun-Meal1699 2d ago

Never? Not even when he had hermes boots?

3

u/-ImJustSaiyan- 2d ago edited 2d ago

Hermes boots make him run faster, but not FTL fast.

3

u/Largo23307 2d ago

Correct.

Never.

19

u/Immediate_Hurry_2117 3d ago

Which part of the game is this for Asura? As I recall he doesn't get to FTL-faster speeds until much later into his game.

18

u/Super_Range45 3d ago

This is when he died. That's actually his spirit hanging over the precipice of Naraka. He's climbing because he's too stubborn to stay dead.

18

u/Suitable_Dimension33 3d ago

Asura had just woken up after either dying or damn near dying and is climbing. I think it would make sense that he’s not moving at insane speeds, although that is some pretty fast climbing lol

21

u/OkPast178 3d ago

Asura is not moving at normal speed wtf lol

8

u/Competitive-Bee-3250 2d ago

The thing about Asura is he's climbing out of hell and almost totally powerless - and shortly after this he was sprinting straight up the pillar

8

u/Fug1x 3d ago

/img/fkwwjw6fxfmh1.gif
And a train looks like hes jogging, we dont have anyone around asura to see how fast hes going

8

u/Free-Selection5499 2d ago

Asura is still climbing fast as shit. and i think for kratos, its supposed to feel slow to build up dread from his perspective

6

u/Tomynator_88 I wank what I like 3d ago

I mean, technically speaking aren't the pillars in Naraka infinite/endless and Asura still climbed them? Took him like 12k years the first time but still

1

u/-ImJustSaiyan- 2d ago edited 2d ago

Took him like 12k years the first time but still

Worth noting that he does come back faster each time he dies.

The first time, after Deus killed him, it took 12,000 years.

The second time, after Yasha killed him, it took 500 years.

And the third time, after fighting Augus and an army of Gohma, it took only a few days.

And it's technically a separate continuity, but in his manga there's an instance of him resurrecting mere moments after dying. Which is consistent with him coming back faster each time in the game.

1

u/Tomynator_88 I wank what I like 2d ago

I'm also pretty sure in the battle against Chakravartin he came back instantly too, but don't quote me on that

7

u/theShiggityDiggity 2d ago

Dude, Asura is climbing incredibly fast in the first clip...

6

u/Idk_Just_Kat 2d ago

Do you think humans climb that fast???

14

u/masterionxxx 3d ago

This is Kratos climbing. See the difference?

6

u/Time_Remove_7080 2d ago

I would be more towards Asura because he would've just woken up from being dead and is still moving faster than Kratos.

6

u/Admirable-Mud-2768 StreetTierKratos 2d ago

That clip of Kratos running to the temple will never not be hilarious

Even I can probably run faster

5

u/-ImJustSaiyan- 2d ago

It's the context that really makes it hilarious. Atreus is literally being kidnapped and Kratos can't muster up even so much as MCU superhuman level speed to save his own son.

And that's not even a joke, freaking Captain America and Black Panther were legit moving faster in Infinity War lmao.

3

u/No_Proposal_3140 2d ago

It honestly looks like Asura is climbing faster than Kratos is running lol like look at how fast Asura is hauling ass in comparison it looks like he's in zero gravity almost

3

u/ODI0N 2d ago

Well I'd just like to add that tower Asura is climbing is an infinite tower so it isn't exactly an anti feat. Also Asura isn't really that fast to begin with. He's just too strong, and too angry to die.

3

u/elRetrasoMaximo 2d ago

If you think that climb speed is "normal speed" we will have a problem.

3

u/Skellyton175 2d ago

Have you tried climbing that fast before, is this a joke?

3

u/Champion-Either 2d ago

This would be a almost halfway partially maybe tolerable post if ashura wasn’t clearly hauling ass bro that man is movingg 😭

5

u/TheTomdom 3d ago

Kratos does not have infinite movement speed feats, but many combat speed feats.

Never played Asura's Wrath, but from what I've been told, he does possess infinite movement speed.

Both, however, are on-screen dogshit right here. Cinematic-representation anti feats at their peaks.

2

u/TheAngryOreo 2d ago

I don't know what game this is. WHY is there a giant spider ascending towards this man at super fast speed?

For what crimes could have caused something like this?

I would explode if i saw that giant wall crawler running.

3

u/Quar1z 2d ago

The first one is Asura's Wrath

The Golden Spider kinda just talks to him. When he first gets to Naraka he doesn't remember well so he's just told to climb the pillar because he has things to do. I guess you could kinda call him a guide, but all he really does is tell Asura to climb and annoy him.

2

u/No_Proposal_3140 2d ago

Why is the Kratos gif sped up by 50% and also cropped so we can't see the ground he's covering?

2

u/InTheNameOfHagoromo 2d ago

Kratos is worse in that aspect, ignoring lore, at least asura is climbing faster than Kratos is running

1

u/TokaAriri 2d ago

Those stairs are multiversal.

1

u/Curi_momos_las_papas 2d ago

Just by this alone, they're both relatevely close

Now on a more serious note, Kratos is slower not cause of anti feats but lack of traverse speed feats, Kratos clearly has inmense fighting and reaction speed, but we never see him run fast, not on gameplay, not on cinematics, not even mentioned in lore tablets

1

u/G2theA2theZ 2d ago

Normal speed for Kratos, it may be different to a human observer in universe.

1

u/Due-Stranger3415 2d ago

Can Asura or Kratos perform at least 2 billion feints thrusts and parries simultaneously per second like Beyonder?

-2

u/KeShon2704 3d ago

They are slow, people just come about it because they like them.

-7

u/apollonirex 3d ago edited 2d ago

Lmao I'm tempted to play asura's wrath just to find anti-feats, kratos downplayers have become far too annoying

Edit: laughing at the downvotes- are the asura glazers scared that someone will actually play their game?

4

u/InstructionPlayful12 2d ago

Yeah tell us and don't forget the DLC stuff (outside of the Street Fighter crossover) and Manga

4

u/Material-Refuse7964 3d ago

Please do it and tell is what you found

4

u/No_Proposal_3140 2d ago

about to return to us enlightened when you see Chakravartin throw 50 galaxies at Asura

-2

u/apollonirex 2d ago

Galaxies are nothing in front of realm-scaling

4

u/No_Proposal_3140 2d ago

Realms smaller than even a planet btw.

-2

u/apollonirex 2d ago

The realms have real stars in them
