RANT my store banned headphones permanently

it’s actually annoying as fuck and i’m irritated. just because a few people can’t follow the rules instead of writing up, disciplining or firing them everyone has to suffer for it? like bro im not trying to listen to “immmm every womannnnnn” at 4am every fucking morning

edit: i’m less annoyed about it now. my store followed the whole “one earbud allowed during non business hours” but people kept wearing them during store hours, or having both in i think they just got tired of repeating themselves. it is frustrating but i guess i get it. i just am really gonna miss my podcasts😭

QUESTION 4+ brands all at the same price.

Post image
Upvotes

is this possibly some sort of price collusion? because why wouldn’t at least 1 of the brands say “we can undercut everyone by 5 to 10 cents.” ? I’m not convinced the margins are so thin on a these ultra mass produced cans of soda and they can’t go down a few cents to be the cheapest brand.

went to target and they were all $2.49 as well for the same healthy sodas and other brands. so it isn’t a Publix specific thing.

also I like the 1 flavor with the “clearance” price being the same lol.

QUESTION Forgot to clock out for lunch one day last week, just now realized that it was never fixed and I got paid for an extra hour

Upvotes

At least it was just a 1-hour lunch and not that I forgot to clock out for the day and got several extra hours on my paycheck. I honestly had completely forgotten about it. I obviously realized my mistake last week when I attempted to clock back in from lunch and I let my manager know immediately. She just said not to worry about it and they'd fix it. And I should have checked on passport to make sure that someone actually did fix it, but I honestly just forgot all about it. I was surprised to see that my paycheck was about $30 more than I'd anticipated, and then I remembered. 😕 I know it's just $30 but I don't want to be accused of stealing time. Should I say something to my managers tomorrow? Would they possibly just deduct the extra $30 from next week's check?

DISCUSSION Publix Security offer

So I interviewed for Publix Security, took the drug test, and had my background check done. And they are offering the position at $17.65 an hour. The way range is ($17-$23). I tried to get it to at least $20 I hold an Associates in Criminal Justice and Bachelors in Criminology along with 2 years Security work. I may so it until I find something better. Not happy with the results but in this economy beggers cant be choosers.

DISCUSSION I am a former Publix employee and I currently work at a union store in the Midwest (no not Kroger)

Post image

I left Publix almost 10 years ago and while I miss it a lot, I wanted to share the wages of what wages are at a unionized store. No it’s not a high cost of living area, that argument is bullshit. We have associates working there getting really good money because even after you get top of scale you get raises.

I was a full time kool aid drinking associate that was making a career and moving up with Publix quite fast, but being in a union is so much better.

BLEED GREEN How do get "PUBLIX" back?

Upvotes

For those who grew up with Publix, What are some of the standards you have come to expect but don't see as much currently? I personally have seen cleanliness as a big difference from competitors but I've noticed it slip by the wayside. What have you seen slipping that has had the most impact on the brand?

QUESTION Where is my Publix meat coming from?

After reading a article on the New York Post website today (re: imported beef), I got to wondering where my Publix ground chuck (now at $9 per pound in Jacksonville, Westside) was coming from? I only saw "harvested in the USA" on the label.

QUESTION Western Union PDS

I’m a CSS in Tennessee. Whenever I did a western Union, no matter what type of transaction it would prompt to print the PDS with the fee, total, sender, recipient, and send amount. I think around the time they changed the connection system though, if you edited or resent a transaction, it would instead prompt for a fraud warning, it kind of looked like a short PDS with no information about fees, amount, or sender/recipient information. It even asks after if you’ve reviewed the PDS with the customer after. At first I just figured they changed it if it’s a resend and not a new transaction, and didn’t think anything of it. I just took the money services CBT, and early on it talks about legal requirements for providing the PDS to customers every transaction. Has something changed recently or am I doing something incorrect?!?

QUESTION When do pay statements appear

I started last week so this week should be my first paycheck. As of now no pay statement is showing up in passport. Is this normal as I know some people already get direct deposited on Tuesdays. When do pay statements show up in passport?

Not sure if theres a delay since I'm new.

QUESTION Should I quit my part-time job after finally transferring to a different location?

Title: Should I quit my part-time job after finally transferring to a different location?
I’m a college student who works part-time at Publix. I originally worked at one location and had been trying to transfer to a different Publix closer to my school. The transfer process took a while, and I’m genuinely grateful that my managers put in the effort to get everything approved and get me transferred.
The problem is that I’ve had a lot of issues with the job in general, and I’ve reached the point where I genuinely don’t want to work there anymore. I recently started at the new location, but I’m already feeling like I made the wrong decision by continuing with Publix.
Today, I was scheduled to work but woke up very sick with a fever and called the store to let them know I couldn’t come in. A manager (I think GM) called me afterward to make sure I was actually coming in because they were short on coverage. I explained that I was sick, but the conversation left me feeling pretty guilty, like the staffing issue was being put on me.
Now I’m seriously considering resigning. I feel bad because of how much effort went into my transfer, and I don’t want to burn bridges or seem ungrateful. At the same time, I’m a college student with other commitments, and I’m realizing that I just don’t think this job is worth the stress for me anymore.
Should I quit in this situation? And if so, should I give two weeks or or just not show up?
I’m mainly looking for honest opinions, including if you guys think i’m being reasonable.

QUESTION Do all Publix pharmacy take 24 hours to fill a prescription?

I had a prescription sent in about 2:30 yesterday, showed up to the Publix pharmacy five hours later, and was told it’d be ready the next day at 3pm. Has this always been this way?

QUESTION Publix Job Center

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for Publix to view applications? I submitted mine over a week ago and have only received the “You meet the minimum requirements” email about 10 minutes after sending it in, but nothing further.
I’ve checked the dashboard, it’s still on the first step of five.
Is there any place I could maybe call/email to ask about the process?

QUESTION What really happens if you don’t have a doctors note ?

For context I’m a fairly new associate but I have been sick for the last week and I work in the deli and I called to ask what I should do because I hate calling out but I’m vomiting and have a fever so that’s not something I can just “ push through “ but I’m broke and don’t have insurance so like would it Just count towards attendance or do I need a doctors note to return to work ? This will be the 3rd shift I’ll have to miss

BLEED GREEN Capped out 🗣️

Officially capped out before 5 year mark, planning on going back into management since the only direction now is up. Feeling slightly melancholic. Anybody else feel this way when they capped out? Thoughts?

Edit: Was not expecting this post to garner negative emotions for some people, my apologies. My intention was to “show off” but in a playful way. Oops.

BLEED GREEN Stonks question and advice

Been here 7yrs. I have about 17K in stocks, more or less, full time for 3yrs. More or less a 100$ dividend check. I start seeing the bigger picture...so I'm wondering, what's the maximum as a regular full time associate can buy ? And how have you maximized it's usage and potential through other financial tools such as the credit union and your 401K's? Etc and if you're comfortable sharing what has been your largest dividend check ?
