Hello everyone,

As regional tensions continue, it is understandable that many people may feel concerned or uneasy. We ask everyone to remain calm and rely only on official announcements and verified information from authorities. Please avoid sharing rumors, speculation, or unconfirmed reports, as this can create unnecessary panic and confusion.

The moderation team is actively working to keep the subreddit safe, organized, and informative for everyone. Our goal is to make sure discussions remain helpful, respectful, and based on reliable information.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation. By staying calm, following the rules, and relying on trusted sources, we can help keep the community safe and the subreddit running smoothly for everyone...

Question Hi, I was hit by someone who i thought was a friend

Hi. There’s something serious I need to explain.

There is a person I used to consider a very close friend. We were extremely attached, and despite everything that has happened, I’m still struggling to accept what he did because of that attachment.

During an argument, he became angry and raised his hands against me. As a result, my teeth were broken and I have to deal with significant dental expenses. Beyond the physical injury, I’ve also been mentally traumatised by what happened, and also from emotional abuse that he has been doing to me since couple of months now.

I think I’m still in denial about the situation, which is why I keep finding myself going back to him or maintaining contact, even though I know what he did was wrong.

Maybe he is a narcissistic person, cause he never admits his mistakes and always always alwayssss justifies his actions instead of seeing his mistakes.

This ain't the first time that he raised his hands at me.

I now want to file a police complaint against him. However, I am a woman living in Qatar, and I do not want my family or people at home to find out about this if it can be avoided. At the same time, I want him to understand how serious his actions were.

My main objectives are to have the incident officially documented, make sure he understands that I am taking legal action, and seek reimbursement for the medical and dental expenses I have incurred because of the injury.

Ideally, I would like the complaint to serve as a serious legal warning to him while also allowing me to pursue the costs of repairing my teeth.

Question Is it forbidden to wear a cross or a kippah in the street?

Hello everyone,

I have two (maybe stupid) questions.

I know Qatar is very welcoming to other cultures and religions.

However, as a christian, I would never wear a cross necklace outside in Qatar, for fear of offending anyone, especially locals. For me, it's a sign of respect to keep my religious symbol at home, especially in a country that welcomes me and does not share mine.

But I recently had a debate with a muslim friend who told me that "I could wear it because in Islam it's mandatory to be open to other religions".

So, here are my two questions, for my personal curiosity:

  1. Is it allowed by law to wear non-muslim religious signs (cross necklace, kippah, etc.) in the streets in Qatar?
  2. How would you feel if you saw this as a Qatari?

Random Just want to share something with you guys..

Salam everyone. This might be a bit boring and long, but I hope you can take a little time to read this post.

My father has worked for the military since he was 16. He was born and raised here in Qatar, and he recently completed his term and retired at the age of 60 Mashallah 🥰

I’m happy and sad at the same time for him. Happy because he can finally rest, but sad because people don’t really treat you like a human anymore when you don’t have a job. Even some of our own relatives have cut us off ever since he retired. Why? Probably because they think we will ask for money, which is laughable, because I remember that even at our lowest point, Alhamdulillah, we never begged anyone for money, especially not our relatives. But this hurts me so much, because my father asked me yesterday, “Don’t I have the right to be treated like a human being if I don’t have a job anymore?” That broke me.

It’s true, we don’t have a lot, but I’m sure Allah will provide for us, Inshallah. What hurts me most is seeing my father question his worth just because he's not working anymore☹

If that same relative who blocked us lost their job today, we would have encouraged them not to lose hope and told them we would always be there for them if they needed help. But the fact that they blocked all of us, and even ignored us when we saw them and said salam (we live in the same compound) it really hurts. I cry every night for my father’s mental health because I can clearly see he is depressed by how people treat him now that he has retired.

I’ve even noticed that the baqala employees have been giving my father an attitude and have been rude to him. Do you lose all respect the moment you’re no longer working?

I’m not asking for anything by writing this. I just want to tell you guys how amazing my baba is. He worked so hard for our family and helped so many people around him without ever asking for anything back. And even though he has retired now, he’s still a human with a heart. He also deserves love and kindness.

I hope we can be kinder to people who lose their jobs or have retired, because they are human, just like everyone else and their worth doesn't diminish just because they are no longer working. And because I know for a fact my baba would never this to anyone else if they were going through this very situation despite being back stabbed so many times in life, he would still help them.

If you guys have any encouraging words for my baba please write them down I will definitely show it to him!

Thank you all for reading this far.

Question Seeking advice: Any free resources for spoken Arabic? (Can read/write, but struggling to converse!)

Hi everyone, I hope you're all having a good week.

I know this question probably pops up all the time, so thank you in advance for reading! I’m really hoping to get some advice on learning spoken Arabic. I’ve managed to learn how to read quite well, and I can write a little bit, but when it comes to actually speaking, I really struggle to put sentences together.

I gave Duolingo a good try, but it just didn't seem to help me with real-life conversations. Unfortunately, I’m on a pretty tight budget right now, so I can't really afford to pay for proper classes at the moment.

If anyone knows of any free resources, platforms, or even YouTube channels that genuinely help with speaking and everyday communication, I would be so incredibly grateful if you could point me in the right direction. I'd just love to be able to connect with people and hold a simple conversation.

Thank you so much for your time and any guidance you can offer!

Question Does anyone else have dry throat/nose from sleeping with AC on?

Every breath I take seems to dry the inside of my throat/sinuses. Curious how common this actually is here, what have you done about it?

Humidifiers don't seem to help me a lot.

I'm a student working on a possible solution for this, so I wanted to know if the problem is widespread enough. If there were lightweight, breathable mask kinda thing you wore while sleeping that fixed this issue, would you actually wear it?

Information Need urgently help!!!

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

I hope you are doing well. I want to share something personal and ask for guidance.

I graduated high school in Qatar 1 year ago. Till grade 10 I was an A1 student in studies, sports, and painting. After grade 10, my father said girls don’t need to study more. I went into severe depression. With my mother’s support I somehow completed 11th and 12th from a private school. I also used to teach my younger brothers during exams, so I couldn’t focus properly. My health and depression affected my grades and I got a B grade in 12th.

Now I want to study in a university in Qatar. My father does not allow me to go abroad. But most Qatar universities require Maths in grade 12, and my school was private and didn’t offer Maths. Also my B grade is not enough.

I tried looking into GED but I heard it’s not accepted in Qatar universities. Is this true?? My question: Is there any way I can give Grade 12 exam again in Qatar, with Maths, NOT through my school?

Any help or guidance would mean the world to me. Please keep me in your duas. JazakAllah Khair.

Request Football Shirt from Egypt

Hello everyone, this post is for my Egyptian friends on here.
I am Palestinian living in Qatar, and like all Palestinians I love Egypt and its people.

I looked everywhere in custom football shops here for an old Egypt or Ahly shirt with Abu Traika’s name and the famous #22 but couldn’t find any.

He is my favourite player and I also was lucky to watch him for a bit growing up. If any Egyptian in Qatar is going home and happens to find one please get me one and I will pay you. Thanks a lot!
