I read somewhere that a cap can mess the valve up, then you may have caused a problem.

I take them off everytime I see them.

Do other places use these?

I’m an Rt with over 15 years of experience. I’ve worked at a large hospital for 13 years in a bigger city. I recently applied to 3 new jobs and got offers from all 3 but I feel like the pay is low. I currently make 42 base which I feel is low. I’ve been offered 40 base at new hospitals idk if I should negotiate or not?

I’ve recently moved from where I used to work at a hospital for 11 years and have an interview lined up for a job as an independent contractor through a company. The job entails visiting skilled nursing units and other post acute care facilities working with geriatric patients providing things like assessments/treatments/education/plans/etc. Here’s the thing that’s really appealing and feels too good to be true, you set your own schedule. I’m just curious to anyone else who has had a job like this how does this work exactly? Is there some sort of app with days and assignments to take? Is it like a first come first serve type of deal? You would imagine people would try not to work on weekends or anything other than early day hours.

Don't store cylinders in racks! This makes them difficult to pull out in an emergency, and that can get the hospital a ding on a state inspection.

Need recommendations on what you guys are using as a work backpack. I’m carrying a bit of stuff and have my scrub pockets filled. I tend to bring at least two lunches with me but I’m tired of carrying a lunch pail. If there is a backpack for everything I’d be thrilled!

I'm a new grad RT in California that's open to moving out of state for experience. Cincinnati Children's did a presentation to our graduating class a couple of months ago and it seemed great on paper - good benefits, great experience, good pay, and apparently voted the #1 place for new graduates to work. However, I was wondering if anyone with experience in the field has some recent feedback on this facility? Searching through the subreddit, I've honestly seen a lot of negative feedback from 2+ years ago and I was just wondering if maybe that's changed? Any and all input helps. Thanks!

Currently just purchased respiratory cram to use for my CSE practice..is this an accurate representation of the real CSE exam? My test is scheduled for Sept 28th.

I'm a fresh RT student, and we start clinical rotations next week. We need all-black, non-mesh shoes (I was told because of accidental needle drops)

Looking through these threads here, a lot of the brands and recommendations have mesh tops. I really like Brooks and Hokas, and I don't mind putting some money into them, but I'm having trouble finding any non-mesh shoes that don't look like I'm working at a restaurant or going to church.

Are there any nice, non-mesh styles you would recommend?

Hi! I am currently out of state trying to get my license for Florida, I leave for a travel contract starting the 14. I went a week ago to get finger printed and used the code they gave me specifically for it to go them electronically, but on the receipt it says insurance?

I scheduled another finger printing Tuesday just in case because it’s been over a week and I’m stressing big time waiting on this. Does anyone have any insight to Florida and how long their licenses usually take? TIA!

How do you guys manage? I think it's great that I can help them with the theory based knowledge but I don't feel that much ahead of them in terms of physical practice. And I struggle to explain everything I'm doing/would do as a very new RT

I work in a SNF that has around 120 beds. We've got 7 trach patients, 3 of whom are vent dependent. It's super light work; something like 10 hours of downtime a day, I love it. Thing is, there are nurse's aides that will talk to me like I'm their assistant, and it genuinely seems to surprise them when I tell them "No, I'm not doing that" when they tell me to be at so and so's room at such and such time to help them change that patient. I will usually help if its a request for help because they've gone through everyone else that could help, but I guess people ordering me to help them do their job is a pet peeve of mine. Do you guys say more than a simple "no" when people do that, or do you go harder?

For those of you who used AI to study, which one worked the best for you and gave you the best results during exams? I have ADHD so I have a lot of trouble focusing and understanding during lectures. So I’m looking for something that will help me actually understand any concept I’m studying on.

Hi there hopefully I can get some advice on jobs for a new grad! I passed my boards and I have a license in my state and I went for an interview at a hospital in my states that is known to hire EVERYONE and they didn’t hire me :,) so it was disheartening I am having a hard time finding more jobs too I have another interview coming up as well (praying I get the job) but I just wanted to know if it’s due to the time of the year that jobs aren’t as needed rn for context I’m in the state of Arizona and most Banners aren’t hiring Honor healths aren’t looking for new grads (and if they are the pay is awful) and I can’t seem to find anything in long term settings any information on this would be great I am a newbie in this setting :3

Hi all. I’m a mom of 3 young kids and very super slowly I’m trying to get my prerequisites done. But for every prerequisite, I have to pass like 1 or 2 more classes before the class I need. Like Anatomy and Physiology 1&2…I have to pass a college biology class. And for statistics I have to pass TWO classes before that. I failed the ALEKS test and I’m just so fatigued with trying to find the time to retake that test. So I guess I’ll just spend more time and money on taking the math fundemntal class and college prep class before stafistics. I swear I’m a really smart person but yeah with kids, not having much time to go to class let alone do it online and math not being my strongest suite- I’m just absolutely beside myself. If I do manage to accomplish these classes and considering how much time it will take, then I will have the time to do the RT program bec my youngest will be in kindergarten in 2-3 years. But I’m a still a mom that needs to do drop off and pick up so maybe this RT idea is too ambitious and not realistic? Wow anyone else feeling the same or went through similar struggles? I would be a great RT. But damnnn.
