I genuinely feel like I'm forcing myself to play her simply because of how much time I've put into her, I am stuck in low elo because of her feeling useless in my hands, every single match is the same pattern, my enemy chooses something that takes a real sweat out of you because of sheer sustain alone: Garen, Sett, Renekton etc. I win the early levels and get an HP advantage, yay. I get a xp advantage because of them being in a bad state, yay. I get a kill, maybe two around level 6, cool. Then game drags on for a bit, I open tab and see a 10/0 yasuo which means that I can shove my lead up my butt against that, so I am stuck in my lane then we 1v1 with my laner again and I get automatically killed through statchecking because my opponent has a working R button and right click and just kills me through an all in where they mindlessly bash all abilities no matter the champion and win and thus begins the time where I am worth as much as a cannon minion at that point, every single game looks like that. However before I just say what my mind really wants to say: that this champion is overrated garbage with base stats of an adc which cannot do anything after lvl 7 and I should move on however I am really eager to be proven wrong

Imo the old eclipse sundered sky death dance just felt better not sure if it was stronger but damn did it feel smooth to just sheild and heal at the same time

Who can Riven actually beat at level 1? I remember she used to be really strong at level 1 and could beat most champions, but I’m not sure if that’s still true. Can someone tell me which champions Riven wins against at level 1 and which ones she doesn’t? Top and mid

So my question is basically in the scenario where you are going for proxy on 4th wave and enemy just drops his wave to stop you, what i did this game is just pull the wave and walk away and base, making the 4th wave crash and making him lose most of the 3rd wave. However i traded one for one when i tried to fight him with longsword on the bounce cause i needed to thin the wave a lot to match his lvl 4 and i notice this is quite hard to do into most matchups. Should i just not trade with him on the 5th wave bounce back to avoid any risk and take the small win of him losing some minoins from the 3rd wave? also because i damaged the wave already not thinking he would drop his wave i lost quite a lot of the 4th wave. So what would you guys do?

when i write crit riven what i really mean is half crit or 75 percent and sometimes 50 percent depending on whether you will need maw.

i go ESSENCE REAVER, IE, DEATH STANCE, ENDLESS HUNGER, LDR + omnivamp boots

also i think its best to swap our IE or LDR for maw when needed

This build is so broken and underrated i dont understand. It feels too overtuned and it is so much stronger i crit for 1600 or something like how is that real? and i can do that 3 times in a row really fast.

i always felt like rivens damage fell off but with this it actually scales really well especially with new crit buffs this season.

like why tf should i follow the rules and traditions when riot keeps nerfinf this champ i stg im gonna turn into a racist crit riven abuser for now.

I've played this matchup at least 10 times now, and it feels genuinely impossible. I don't feel like I'm really able to put any pressure on her after level 2. Her ability to proc electrocute so easily without needing to commit more than 1 ability to a trade makes it hard to retaliate and I just slowly bleed hp. I've taken note of other tips I've seen on older threads about playing around her long W cooldown and the fact that her early game damage numbers aren't as high as Riven's but I think electrocute adds so much extra power to her short trading that I'm at a loss.

I'm fully accepting that I'm not necessarily a "good" Riven player as I'm still learning MUs but this is the only one I've genuinely not been able to figure out. I haven't found any other threads talking about the Ambessa Electrocute MU and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me.

Once upon a time (read many years ago), Riven was a fairly widely played champion. One tricks were all the buzz like BoxBox and AdrianRiven. She was part of the general league zeitgeist.

Today, however, Riven is a fairly niche character. She has her die hard fans (as they should be), but compared to characters like Yasuo or Kai'Sa, Riven is bit of a background character comparatively. Interestingly, she once got a skin on the yearly and hasn't of late (my tinfoil hat says League Next will have a small visual update for her).

With that said, why do you think Riven isn't as popular anymore? And how do you feel about it?

I’m wondering if it’s ever worth it to build Riven kind of like Sett with a lot of high hp bruiser items. Items like Shojin, Steraks, Overlords, stuff like that. Maybe even toss in a Hullbreaker and split push all game. I know it’s pretty much strictly worse than the normal builds but would there ever be a situation to build this way?

Side note: Since everyone always crying about Riven being busted I think it’d be a cool idea to add an hp ratio to her E shield reward more bruiser oriented builds as opposed the the normal oneshot skirmishy builds.

How are you supposed to teamfight on riven? I get that you want to look for flanks to the backline but I feel like its super hard to reach a flank / get to the backline as riven, she has great mobility but she isnt the same as something like rengar talon khazix who just flies over and 1 taps, and she is super susceptible to CC. And in general what do you do with a lead? I feel like riven can splitpush but its not great, and she can teamfight fine but I dont know what to be doing with a lead. No matter how ahead I am I can't win a game.

I’ve been trying to learn this matchup but imo it seems like the flippiest matchup. I’ve seen clips of riven winning level 1 and others of Darius winning. Plus idk if I should be playing for prio cuz if I ever push without being able to crash he hits 3 and runs me down with ghost or ignite/exhaust nimbus. How does the matchup play if Darius runs conq vs stormsurge, with or without bone plating and ghost vs ignite/exhaust? It seems like I have to space perfectly else he hits me win one spell and if he isn’t already low enough I just can’t burst him down. Any tips on how to play the matchup level 1/3 onwards? Thanks.

(Before I rant I want to say that I play top as my secondary role, so I kinda suck)

Every time I have to play toplane I feel like my champ is a lot weaker than everyone else. Usually I can win lvl 1 trade, but after that it feels like I just get statchecked by everyone. Also if enemy laner buys any armor all my damage is gone.

For example, I just played vs a Camile. Early game I was actually winning trades by dodging her W and E, but then she bought one cloth armor and finished triforce and winning trades felt impossible. I could dodge everything she has, but the one Q chunks me for 600hp. Later in the game when we both had 3 items, the fights were not even close. She had a 1k true damage nuke very 2 seconds, with a bigass passive shield.

I just dont know what to do, it feels like I have to put 5x the effort into anything I do with the champ. If anyone has any tips I would appreciate it :)

Hey everyone, I feel like I have a decent understanding of Riven when it comes to laning, map awareness, and especially 1v1s, so I'd like to improve my performance in 5v5 situations.

I'm not particularly good at this part of the game, so I'd appreciate any advice. What is Riven's ideal role once multiple players are involved?

I usually look for opportunities to get onto the enemy ADC or mid, take out Viego or another problematic champion before committing, or engage when I spot a good opening. However, most of these decisions feel very instinctive rather than something I consciously plan around.

I'd like to develop a more structured way of approaching these situations — understanding what my priorities should be, who I should be looking for, when I should engage, when I should hold my abilities, and how I should position myself before and during the fight.

How do you experienced Riven players approach this? Any tips, concepts, or things I should pay attention to would be greatly appreciated!

These are some of my past games with Riven. I have 45.6% win rate with this champion and my games usually look like these. Do you have any tips on how to win more and increase the win rate? I feel like my laning phase is alright but late game if I am not fed and the opponents are, I really struggle. Thanks!
