Her delivery always makes me laugh

Everyone shines in this episode, and I know that everyone focuses on Laurie Metcalf's performance (with good reason), but I personally think Estelle Parsons kicks ass in this episode. Her quip about the flavored coffee lives rent free in my head and I love her confrontation with Joan!

I've been a lifelong Roseanne fan since I was a kid my mom and I used to watch the reruns all the time but do you have a certain point in the series where you just stop watching and restart? I find a lot of the later Seasons to be a little too cynical and annoying so if I do a series watch I pretty much start from season 1 to about season 5 I'll still watch the occasional episodes from season 6 to season 9 but if I'm doing a serious rewatch I'll pretty much only go from season 1 to season 5.

Is Becky’s apartment in season 5 episode 3 The Dark Ages, the same as Darlene’s college dorm? Don’t think I ever noticed this before!

Personally, I feel like he was kind of a weenie and the show "jumped the shark" when he knocked up Jackie.

I'm a fan of the first 5 seasons, but Fred marked the beginning of the end.

But I'm probably in the minority. What are your thoughts?

I don’t understand why people say this about Gary.

For one, he really loved her and it was mutual. Jackie never had a stable job and now was in her supposed job she loved, albeit a dangerous one. She then gets hurt and Gary basically gives her an ultimatum - which wasn’t out of line. He wanted to be happy and safe with her, raise kids, etc. Jackie should have realized this when she was in the hospital.

She wasn’t ready for this long term relationship for whatever reason. She had a great opportunity for happiness and a good life - as he was a good provider. The controlling argument was an excuse for the fact she blew it.

It’s not controlling to want your partner to consider all the possibilities, and Jackie wasn’t budging at all. Not even really considering this. Her stubbornness cost her the relationship. Gary wasn’t in the wrong here.

I have seen every episode of *Roseanne* countless times, starting with they originally aired.

For the past few decades these have been the "Edited for Syndication" versions that have at least 2 minutes of scenes deleted since I catch the reruns on whatever TV channel.

The other day, a scene popped into my head and I realized, "I haven't seen that in decades! I wonder which episode it's from?"

Here's how it goes:

* Roseanne and Jackie are sitting on the couch at Roseanne's house

* One of them is reading a newspaper advice column out loud

* It says, "Dear [Advice Columnist], I get tiny red pimples on my buttocks in the Summertime. What can I do about it?"

* Roseanne and Jackie are cracking up, and then they read the response, "Dear [Whoever], try using a healing facial mask on the area."

* Roseanne and Jackie continue cracking up, then Dan walks in and says something like "I'm going to the store. Do you need anything?"

* Roseanne says, "Yes! Bring us a healing facial mask!" Then Roseanne and Jackie scream together, "FOR OUR BUTTS!" and keep laughing.

* Dan says, "Oh, OK." as if it was a totally normal, everyday request.

I cancelled my subscription to Peacock because the edits to Roseanne made the series horrible. Thanks to this Sub, I was watching everything on Archive.

Since Archive no longer streams Roseanne, does anyone know of an alternative? Or should I just buy all of the seasons on Prime and be done with it?

Why are Becky and Mark portrayed as totally broke, having to move into a beat to shit trailer in a trailer park? Mark was a mechanic for the city, and in Illinois so almost surely union. He would have been making about $50k a year, maybe more. Becky was supposedly still working at "Buns" part time and going to school. In the 90s, they could have afforded a decent house. In this economy probably not, but in 1995 they made plenty to not be destitute.

After my umpteenth rewatch I think I have discovered why I dislike the Lunchbox arcs. I think the inclusion of Jackie and Nancy as partners is what ruined that story.

I think for me what I would have liked is if Roseanne and Bonnie had gone into the restaurant idea together. It would have been a fun way to keep Bonnie on as a regular and diminish the comedic dunce that Jackie became and would have eliminated the annoying writing and character of Nancy. (I Love Nancy but I think less is more with her).

I think if it had just been Roseanne and Bonnie it would have kept that more grounded blue collar atmosphere that made the show special. And it would have allowed them to keep her on. She was one of my favorite side characters!

Then it would have been even more fun for Leon to reappear and they all have that working relationship again.

Just food for thought on this Friday!

Was watching the episode in season 3 where Darlene doesn’t want to go to the dance and Roseanne said, “there’s better ways to get back at me, maybe mark has a little brother” or something along those lines. Thought it was a funny foreshadow I never noticed before.

This line from Season 6 - White Trash Christmas always makes me laugh.
RIP Dolly - she was a real legend!

I always feel like her final laugh is directed at me, trying to make sense of the alphabet soup on my screen.
