Estimated remaining time was 6 seconds an hour ago but since then it has moved up to 9 seconds.

How long does it usually take?

Hello, I have an OLED monitor and to prevent burn in I have set my monitor to turn off every 3 minutes and a black background. But the issue is that every time it turns off on its own it takes like 20 seconds for it to turn back on when I move my mouse around. I want to know if there is a software that automatically minimizes my applications after x amount of time and auto reopens them the moment I move my mouse/press a key on my keyboard.

Before i share i would like to ask if it’s ok to share the link to a tool i am building im sure you guys will love it, it is for windows only, it’s a browsers with download tools, LLM agent can be added for deep search, rss feeds, IRC, file commander, video player, IPTV player, video grabber, all in one app, i know its sounds crazy but its working really well, and i will keep polishing.

I would just purge all the files from file explorer if I were to do this since Windows uninstaller doesn't give the option. My main worry is if doing this will screw up the OS and any functionality. If it would screw things up, any advice on how to lower the size it takes up on my SSD and minimize the background RAM use?

I like writting beautiful simple code a lot. I used to get paid for it and it was great. Now the agents write code for me and I focus on other problems, which is still great. But I want to get that feeling back somehow.

I understand that in my professional work that just wont happen, so I was thinking about picking up a hoby that will allow me to return to those times and get the experience back.

I am writting here to hopefully get some ideas about what that might look like. I dont want to just turn off the agent and start coding, I think it will be preatty dissapointing when I look at the result and realize that with agents this could have been done in 5min. What niche things could I start coding that AI cant help with?

I have been thinking about how much AI has changed the value of technical experience.

Sometimes it feels like a developer with 10 years of experience in a particular tech stack is now competing with what you can get from a Claude Pro subscription.

I honestly don’t know where this is all going to end up. But I do think one thing is becoming more important that is fundamentals and real technical skills.

As vibe coding continues to grow, more people will be able to generate applications without deeply understanding the code. But when things break, security issues appear, performance becomes a problem, or the AI produces a mess of code, someone still needs to understand what’s actually happening.

Maybe the future won't need fewer skilled developers or maybe it will need fewer developers who only write code, and more developers who deeply understand systems and can fix what AI creates.

Curious about how others see this. Are AI tools reducing the value of experience, or just changing what experienced developers are valuable for?

Need to use it on intune-enrolled computers to check the actual upload speed of a specific website. Basically I need to check if slow upload speed is a website issue or an ISP issue and I have to provide data to the website if the issue is on their side.

I tried looking for an app that monitors my screen and clicks right when there's a pixel change. For example, you need to press "Buy" the instant it goes live or need fast reaction times. But all the options I found were either not for Linux (I am a Linux user) or were complicated scripts to use.

So I built VClick, A lightweight cross-platform (Linux and Windows) tool with a user friendly GUI:

• Drag to select the region that needs to be monitored
• Select where it should click when triggered
• Hit Start

You can also change click-type (right/left, single/double click)

I just tried it and the price is really good, 4 euros a month for 500gb but it is too simple. It gives me the option of creating a text file but nothing happens when I click it. I can't create a Google document equivalent. It seems to just before plain file storage. I guess that is the trade-off with the cheap price.

The annoying part is that they make it hard to contact them, no support link anywhere on the main dashboard. And if you email their support email they say to go to their help desk lol. why list the email on the github then?

I’m currently using Claude code to build out an app I want, when this does well and eventually hire a real software developer, will they have trouble with Claude’s code?

I’m worried I will create this whole infrastructure, files, folder structure and the developer will take one look and say it needs to be redone.

This is my first time using Claude code so I don’t know if it’s good at making code clean and presentable for people to read.

Please let me know your opinions on Claude code and if you’re a developer if this is your worse nightmare and wouldn’t work for something who coded their entire company with Claude 😅

Wanted to see where we’re at with actually paying for useful software. Let’s say you find something that will make your life easier; maybe it’s a little utility that eliminates some common daily drudgery.

Subscriptions, nowadays, are just greed, so let’s not even talk about them. But - would you pay a one time fee for it? Say.. $5? $10?

If so… Would you do this through a store (like the Mac App Store or windows store), or would you prefer to pay directly through the developer’s web site?

For some added context - I’m a dev trying to decide if I should even bother building out an idea. I wouldn’t really benefit from this software, but I know others would. I have no interest in just giving my time away for free, and I’m not sure with the rise of AI if there’s any viable path towards getting compensated for the time it’d take me to build it.

Hello guys, I have a quick question for AI engineers. Before I get deep into building AI apps, is it worth learning the entire OpenAI SDK, or should I focus only on the parts I need for my current project?

do I need to study the full SDK first, or can I learn the advanced features later as my projects become more complex?

I know alot of you use mind maps, I made one and im working on it still after release, the issue im facing is, how do I make it pretty on first impression ?The big problem and its gonna sound funny ,all the colors of cards and lines can be custom, background color, UI color, grid on off, grid size, grid spacing density ETC, how do I bring that idea across that users can customize the canvas themselves in a world where everyONE-EDIT expects a click and use?

I have a huge collection of images (100,000+) divided into many subfolders. A lot of them are downloaded from Wikimedia Commons and contain characters from other languages in their filenames which some of my image management apps can't process.

Is there an easy way to search through all these folders for any filenames with non-unicode characters? Basic accents like é or ü are fine but I'd like to remove things like Japanese or Cyrillic characters. I did see some suggestions for this kind of thing online but I'm not a programmer so I was hoping to find something more user-friendly.

I recently got a new Mouse and it only had 2 extra Buttons instead of 4. Because of this i needed a shortcut so i can use alt + mouse4/5, effectively doubling my Buttons back to 4. Since Logitech G-Hub doesnt have a tool for this I decided to make my own and publish it for people who have the same Problem. I did use Heliboard before but It's fixes/Update cadence was slower, especially just not knowing if the project will go down again and revived again somewhere, AND didn't wanna Go back to Gboard(For obvious reasons). Then found this(funnily, right below Heliboard's option in GitHub ).

For those of You worried, the devs provide 3 packages each with different capabilities so if you just want an offline Keyboard, They have an offline release.

Important thing, they have an actively growing Plugin /Add-on system that's not mandatory, keeping the original app lean. For now, IT includes: Speech to text, a handwriting plugin (No idea wat that does, but sounds cool) and a translation plugin.

And yes, Like Heliboard this Also unfortunately relies on the Proprietary library For gesture typing :(

The team behind them, LeanBitLab is a pretty active but small team, any problems reported in the issues(which granted aren't that many), get solved relatively quickly. Tho I will say, right now there's weird capitalization problems that I did report in their GitHub issues, So should be getting fixed in a future release. The second image I included to show their update cadence.

Plus, it has N-gram enhancements; For next word predictions, a list of blocked words (For the stuff one writes accidentally that gets in the learned dictionary), and much more.
