Question سوآل Are Azerbaijanis from major cities such as Tehran and Isfahan returning to their home villages because of the war?

I’m asking because it could be advantageous to temporarily escape assimilation and gain some momentum.

This is a slogan chanted by azerbaijani crowds in iran to reject the ban on native language education for azerbaijanis

Azerbaijani children despite not knowing any other language and consisting 25%+ of iranian children are forced to study in Persian, it reduces scientific potential of them massively and heavily discourages literacy

At the same time some parents try to adopt by not teaching their children their own language, which results in cultural assimilation and destruction of azerbaijani language in iran

Question سوآل What do you guys think of the idea of joining the Republic of Azerbaijan?

I’m sure this subreddit gets this question a lot, but I haven’t seen anything relating to it recently (sorry if I missed it). As a non-Azerbaijani, I think uniting an ethnic group into one sovereign state is generally nice in theory, and I’m sure some in Azerbaijan would agree.

But barely anyone asks the Azerbaijanis of Iran, and there are more of y’all living in Iran than in Azerbaijan. So that’s why I wanted to ask you guys. Do you guys also aspire for South Azerbaijan to unite with the Republic of Azerbaijan? If you say no because of the current reality in Azerbaijan, what would need to change for you to agree with unification?

Discussion موُناقشه Takleh-Khalaj, Azerbaijan (Y-DNA)

I’m from the Mil Steppe in Azerbaijan, and эmy paternal line is connected to the Karabakh beys, Khalaj Jamaat, Takleh oymaq and Damirchihasanli mahal.

My Y-DNA is R-Z282 → R-Y17491 → R-YP4858 → R-SK2014.

What interests me is that related branches occur among Turkish Alevis, Turkmen/Yörük groups and Kurds from different tribal backgrounds. This makes me wonder whether my paternal lineage represents an ancient Eurasian steppe lineage that later became absorbed into Iranian- and Turkic-speaking populations.

One possible, very tentative route could be:
Ancient steppe → Iranian/Indo-Iranian populations → Sarmatian/Kangju sphere → Hunnic-period populations → Caucasus/Anatolia → Kurdization<—> Turkization → Karabakh/Mil Steppe.

I wonder whether there could have been an older migration or tribal movement from South Azerbaijan / present-day northern Iran toward Karabakh, possibly through places such as Kharaaghaj–Kalash

I’m not claiming that R-Z282 proves Sarmatian, Iranian or Hunnic ancestry. I’m trying to understand whether the ancient steppe/Iranian connection could explain how this lineage eventually appeared among the Turkic-speaking population of Karabakh.
I’d especially appreciate opinions from people familiar with R-Z282/YP4858/SK2014, Sarmatians, Kangju, Huns, Kurdish tribes, Anatolian Alevis and Karabakh history
