Recently I was watching @askthespiritguides on YT. During a dowsing rods session, the host Karen stated that peoples' spirit guides really are just aspects of their higher self (not referencing divine beings or entities here -- just talking about personal guides). When I first heard this, I thought, "No, that can't be right." I couldn't believe what she said, because I'd been full-on having a friendship with my spirit guide, "Alicia." Having gotten the idea from a book I read, I'd interviewed her. I'd found out that she was once this impressive person in a past life. I felt amazed that someone who was as distinguished as her would have been designated to be my guide.I even went to Amazon to get a book she wrote in her prior lifetime to demonstrate my esteem and respect for her achievements. In fact, I actually felt **insecure** that she might feel like mentoring me was way beneath her, because certainly I haven't done anything in the realm of her merit-worthy accomplishments she achieved in what (I thought) was her last life. There were even times when I was feeling really down about myself, and I pretty much offered her an "out", in that she could be off the hook with guiding me, because I felt I was such a letdown as a mentee in comparison to what she likely expected to get given her accomplishments.
So, when I initially heard that your spirit guide is merely an aspect of your higher self, I thought that there was no way this could be, and I immediately initiated a conversation with my guardian angel and Source to double check out this assertion with them. Well, lo and behold, I found out that the assertion was TRUE. Needless to say, my mind was blown š¤Æ. I asked them if they really meant to just suggest that we are all just sparks of the same divine consciousness and didn't really mean that to imply that Alicia was actually me. But they insisted that it was true that Alicia and I were the same person. So, then I asked, "Are you saying that it was really ME who lived that impressive lifetime that I'd thought belonged to her?" When they responded, "yes," you could have knocked me over w/ a feather.
After recognizing the depth of the self esteem issues I clearly still have and realizing that a couple other guides I have are also aspects of me, I was bewildered. On one level, it's affirming and confidence-building to find out my soul has amazing potential just based on the one past lifetime I knew of Alicia's. Yet, on another level, I almost felt like I learned Santa Claus's true identity. Up until this event, every time I convened conversations with my guidance team, I invoked my guardian angel, my spirit guide, and Source. Now, I'm feeling like I just realized I no longer have one of my best friends. Weirdly, at first I felt almost like I was betraying her by convening convos w/out her, even though I know that's not true. I asked my GA and Source if I should talk to them with her (ie pretending she's still involved...to make myself feel better) or just proceed in the new reality of knowing she and I are the same and it'd be inane to continue talking to her like she's a different being than me. They responded to just do whatever makes me feel most comfortable.
I am not sure which way I'd feel more comfortable right now. I'm wondering if anyone else has ever experienced a similar type of revelation, and if so, how have you dealt with it? If you're reading this and have not had any similar type experience, how do you think you might proceed if you found yourself in my shoes, in terms of gaining some personal esteem but having done so via the loss of what turns out to have been a make-believe friend? I asked my GA and Source why they just didn't tell me some of these things before. My GA admitted she appreciated me talking to Alicia because it had relieved some of the pressure I'd been putting on her prior to me connecting with Alicia. They both acknowledged that with my self esteem issues that I likely wouldn't have believed sooner in the truth I learned.
Either way, I'm just struggling now that all the guidance I thought I was getting from my guide before was really just coming from me. This hits me on so many different levels. Would love to hear any wisdom you might have from your own experiences.
