Surf forecast in NL
Hi everyone! Any recommendation of app/website for surf forecast in NL? I use Surfline but I guess a local one would be more accurate? Thanks!

Because on the daily people ask for surf forecast help or for a surf group I decided to create one.
Join the Surf NL WhatsApp community now.
Send a dm to join (this is to keep spammers out).

Hoihoi!

Hi all,
I used to surf quite a bit while living abroad and now that I'm back in the Netherlands, I'm keen to get back into it. I'd say I'm an intermediate surfer (or at least I was ;) ).
I'd love to find some people to surf with rather than always heading out solo.
- Is there a surf community around Bloemendaal / Zandvoort that you'd recommend?
- Any good surf shops in that area?
Cheers!

Hey everybody,
I would like to find out which app's/websites you are using and which gives you the best forecast.
I noticed the international apps (surfline/ are not used a lot since the forecasts are not to accurate and most people use a mix of sources (surfweer/goedegolven/rws)
Thanks a lot for your response!

Hallo allemaal!
I have a torq 7'3" mini-malibu. I would like to upgrade a bit my game on quicker waves hence I would like to get a short board as well.
With this being said, I weight around 85kg, plus the 5mm wetsuit required here, that add up some weight as well.
My fitness level is very good, and my surfing is intermediate.
What kind of board would you suggest? And which volume would I require?
Any comment or advice is appreciated. xoxo

Hey everyone,
After few lessons, I bought my 2nd hand equipement and been few times in the water this summer in Amsterdam (Ijburg). I got feedback that I have to prolong the extension so the sail stretches a bit more, but it is completely stuck in my mast. The release ring won’t twist. I’ve already tried all the usual fixes:
Nothing has worked so far.
At this point I’m worried about cracking the collar if I just brute-force it.
> Has anyone dealt with this specific extension before and found a reliable way to free it?
> And as a last resort: are there technical places (e.g. garages) that have the right tools to apply more controlled torque without damaging the part? I’m based in the Netherlands, so local tips are very welcome too.
Thanks in advance — any advice (or contacts in NL who’ve got experience with these bases) would be hugely appreciated!

Hi everyone!
I'm a beginner surfer at best and hoping to catch some waves in october while I am off work. Does anyone have any experience for surfing near Zandvoort or IJmuiden (or a beach near Amsterdam)? I am a bit anxious to get out in the water on my own, so I was wondering if there are usually people still surfing in October.
the fore cast so far isnt that promising for next week but maybe it'll change around.... :)
Thanks!

Hey guys, have just moved to Amsterdam.
Would love to surf every now and then.
I’m planning on hitting up that artificial wave pool in Rotterdam every now and then but it’d be nice to not have to spend money to surf.
Closest spot looks like Zandvoort?
Which seems trainable or even bikeable?
Just wondering if you guys think it’s viable to be surfer in Amsterdam without a car?
Additionally: * is it safe to leave a bag on the beach while I Surf? * are there any WhatsApp’s groups for Amsterdam surfers?
Cheers

Hey guys! I'm not so active anymore and I do see quite a few posts once in a while, so I was wondering if someone wants to join as a moderator of this sub.
So far it's been quite quiet in terms of spam
Leave a comment here and I will contact you

Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of buying surf supplies. Which shops would you recommend for surfshops in Scheveningen for things like wetsuits?
Edit: in case anyone comes across this post and was wondering the same. I ended up going to Hartbeach, super friendly people who helped get everything I needed

I want to gift my brother a new setsuit (because his old one has some holes) for our upcomimg surf trip to south france in fall.
I want to get a 4/3 wetsuit, preferably front or no zip and with good internal lining.
Does someone have an advice for a good wetsuit. Budget 200-250 (maybe max 300 euro) - he is a good surfer and would be good to get a wet suit that holds long.

Terschelling and Ameland have a different angle than the rest of the coast. Are there good surf spots? Or their angle makes it worst?

Hey everyone! What is the thickness of your wetsuits for surfing around this time in the Netherlands? I think the water is still super cold, any special equipment?

So I e heard this channel is a bit on the flat side! Let's get this ball rolling! Where is everyone at, what's your favorite surf spot in the Great NL, and last but not least, what is your favorite board. I ride a Nineplus Double D 6'1 double fin old school style fish here in the NL, on the asphalt I love my Holesom 31'5 cruiser biscuit. In Brazil where I'm from I ride a 5'11 mono fin fish ... Let's make some noise

Hi every one happy labour day! Just joined the Chanel , would love to meet some friends and find some waves. Didn't really sure here and my twin fin is gathering dust. Would love to get some insights and get some knowledge about the surf in this amazing land . Have a great sunny day!

Weet iemand toevallig de beste timing om in hoek van Holland te surfen morgen?

Two questions in one I guess, thinking about moving to NL and have been looking at weekend day trip commute distances to Scheveningen from a likely residence in the Utrecht or Ede area. Seems doable.. do people do this frequently?
I’m also wondering where Dutch people like to go for surf escapes on long weekends? I’m beginner/intermediate, enjoy longboarding, cold water will take some adjustment. I was surprised to see there aren’t any direct flights to Agadir or Essaouira from AMS or Rotterdam. Do people mainly fly to Bilbao, Canary Islands or Dakar or something?
Thanks :)

Hi everybody,
I'm looking to find a good surf school to get a surf lesson or two.
Last year, I've surfed for the fist time, taking a week-long surf camp in Spain. There I mostly practiced in the whitewash learning the basics.
I'd like to repeat a bit of that practice before returning to Spain next oktober, so I'm looking for a surf school that teaches adults that maybe you have a good experience with.
Preferably in Scheveningen or Zandvoort, because I'm planning on getting there by public transport.
Thanks a lot!
