Hey pardon me for suddenly making a post here because I noticed that some RPG type games have a character who fixates on a particular line as they repeat it throughout the game.

Some examples are River City Girls and Disgaea 4 since I noticed that the main characters in those games have a weird tendency to use certain phrases constantly.

Like in River City Girls, the main characters constantly mention their boyfriends to the adversaries they fight as it becomes a bit peculiar the more they do it, and with Disgaea 4, the main character has a tendency to mention sardines and promises to almost everyone ge meets in the game.

Just curious if such a trope exists because I started to notice how some sandbox games have a particular moment where a wedding suddenly gets interrupted by a gang war.

I don’t want to reveal too much in case of spoilers as some examples of the trope being used are GTA 4 and Sleeping Dogs where both games have a particular scene where a wedding gets taken over by a gang war happening as I was wondering what the trope term was fir such moments in gaming.

We have couple M1 and F1, couple M2 and F2, and a whole stack of tangled mess from there. In a common scenario, F2 is M1's ex, childhood sweetheart, frenemy or other kind of close associate; M1 and F1 quarrel over some trivial matter, F1 is then being cold to M1; M1 gets frustrated, he contacts F2 for comfort, or F2 actively approaches him, either way they touch and kiss, innocently at the beginning, and then it gets totally out of control; M2 finds out the cheating, reports to F1, or vice versa, and the two of them hook up.

In a second scenario, M2 lusts for F1, which provokes M1's jealousy, they fight over F1, which provokes F2's jealousy, she goes after F1 for a fight. That was the conflict in A Midsummer Night's Dream, if I remember it right. The first scenario though is common in many old romance dramas on CW and ABC family, in the most extreme case there're TWO love squares going simultaneously, one among teenagers, one among their parents!

So there has been a murder or something, and a disgruntled detective takes the case.

Sometimes it’s super ridicolous and I can’t empathize with the insane characters. It’s also very rarely that they are mad because they are guilty, for which such a reaction could justified. They are literally just next of kins who has nothing to do with it.

Saw it recently on the beginning of «Dark Winds» and it was super annoying. «it’s your fault!!!» like, wtf are you on about.

For example, “character’s class goes to their workplace and find out about his capabilities” is fairly popular in fandoms like Spider-Man but not really outside of it. What are some other examples you can think of?

This also applies for nonfanworks as well, they’re just the first that comes to mind for this kind of thing.

When the protag(s) are taken to a court of some kind, accused by a (possibly familiar) antagonist who has accused them of using their power for their own good. The 2 examples I have are the Heroes episode “Pass/Fail” where Hiro Nakamura is called by his former arch enemy Adam Monroe, accusing him of using time travel for personal gain. The other is the Charmed episode “Crimes and Witch-Demeanors” where the charmed sisters are called to court by one of their biggest recurring enemies, Barbas, attempts to convict them for using magic for personal gain.

While watching edits of a show called Yellowjackets (basically a show talking about girls getting lost in the wilderness, becoming cannibalists and getting rescued 2 years later) i realised how weird it must be to live such an experience, and having to come back to a mundane, boring life.
I can also compare this with Alyssa Foley in The End of the F***ing World, who runaways with a boy she met. SPOILER: They end up killing a dangerous guys, and gets chased by the police. The guy gets arrested and Alyssa has to go back to school, and start working in a dinner. Anyway, i was wondering if there was a name for this trope (living a life-changing experience and having to go back to a normal, boring life). I think its a very interesting trope, that people dont talk about enough.

where an actor plays in one movie or show and then gets mentioned in the movie or show they are currently playing or even referenced.

example a show where Samuel l Jackson is in and someone mentions the Star Wars prequels. like wait a minute.

there’s gotta be a movie from like the 40s or 50s where this happened.

A rare but powerful romance trope, kind of like love triangle, except the two lovers are NOT competitive for the lead, they could be total strangers, or they could be BFFs, that one willingly yields the love of the lead to the other. The key is the lead's own change of heart, he/she realizes it's a mistake, so back to the first lover before it's too late, complete reunion and redemption.

Just curious if such a trope name exists since I noticed that some adaptations of games have obligatory swearing just to look more mature.

Some examples are the Netflix adaptations of Castlevania and Devil May Cry since they have over the top violence again to just to emphasize on the mature aspect.

I can imagine the scene in my head but I can't for the life of me figure out what it's from. Maybe it will ring a bell for someone else?

Let me set the stage: the group of protagonists is brainstorming how to overcome an obstacle, when the ditz of the group makes a suggestion that seems gloriously simple and elegant, maybe too good to be true.

Then someone says (either genuinely or sarcastically) "yeah, great, just give us the Thing That Is Necessary to Execute the Plan!"

At which point the ditz realizes they no longer have the Thing, because of reasons likely ironically linked to the initial problem.

Everyone facepalms. Ditz is slow on the uptake.

I'm SURE there are multiple examples of this, but I can't find anything...

What the title says lol. I think there are multiple cases of this in fiction but not recently, so I can’t find a trope lol. I was watching One Piece Live Action and Crocodile’s theme has Dvorak in it. That’s how the season closes. I think they are foreshadowing what music will be used when he is defeated lol. Jojo was this in a way with Caesar’s death lol. This is amusing because it’s like Darth Vader being defeated to his theme and a case of realizing your boss music wasn’t yours the whole time lol.

I made one on tv tropes site 2 days ago and it is still unapproved so i can't write anything in forums.

I'm not good with tropes, something like a character in a videogame saying "This could be the plot of a videogame!"

A character in a TV show saying "Sadly, this isn't just some TV show".

Etc. etc.

Can you give a few examples with the title above?

Name a character who only appeared in a show's intro, but was never seen again, nor in the episodes.

So, while watching clips on YT (as you do), I was watching a clip of “Dispicable Me 3” where this character Balthazar Bratt was a child actor of the 80s as a villain until now where he’s a real-life villain. In the clip, he used gadgets and weapons that were themed around the 80s (pump kicks that turned into flippers, Rubik’s Cube grenade, Yo-yo wire that burned through a safe, Keytar Lazer Blaster, etc.).

As I thought about it, I was curious if there was a particular trope that dealt with this as DM3 wasn’t the only example of this. (Ex. Batman and Joker, Batman’s gadgets are based on a bat theming, and Joker’s “gags” are dangerous weapons and gadgets).

So basically I am just a bit curious about the kind of trope that shows up in some fantasy media where a character acts like a jerk around people as they never get called out for their behavior.

Some examples are the shows Velma and Neo Yokio as the latter one has a character modeled Jaden Smith whose name I forgot as his character goes around acting all high and mighty as the worst part is that he never develops as a character since again he never learns his lesson about how to treat others around him.

Does this trope have a specific name? A character finds out some information, and when they share this information with another character, it turns out they knew already…along with basically everyone else lol.

I’m sure there are many examples, but the most recent one I can think of is in Pluribus. Carol makes a certain “discovery” about the hive mind, if you’ve seen the show you know what I’m talking about. She then goes to Koumba with this, and she’s all shocked, telling him to sit down and prepare for what he’s about to see. It’s all very dramatic, and just when she’s about to spill the beans, Koumba goes “is this about them eating people?” and Carol is just like, “what?” All confused like how did he know, and Koumba just casually explains that everyone in the group knew about it because they talk to each other and excludes Carol 😂

But yeah, is there a name for this trope?
