Chapters 64 and 65 explicitly tell us that the founder's power does not work on Ackermans. Then, in chapter 138, Eren somehow manipulated Mikasa's memories. Yes, it was memory manipulation. In chapter 139 Mikasa says, "Armin, your memories have returned too, haven't they?" She is literally saying that her memories just now returned too.

To begin with, Mikasa should not have been able to get into paths. Bringing Eldians to paths is the founder's power, and Ackermans are supposed to be immune to that power. If Ackerman could be summoned to paths, then King wouldn't have persecuted the Ackerman bloodline like that. He simply could summon them and trap them in paths.

Then, in chapter 139, Mikasa says that Ymir has been peeking into her head all this time. This should not be possible again since Mikasa is an Ackerman, and Ackermans are supposed to be immune to the Founder's powers. Also, why does Ymir need to even look into Mikasa's head? She is in paths that transcend time. Past, present, and future all exist at once. Ymir should already have seen Mikasa's choice. There was no reason to keep peeking into her mind.

The whole Ymir-Mikasa-Eren situation is a massive plot hole.

I've never been a fan of the quirky "mad scientist" character trope, but I used to generally like Hange. But to give a character who is so "different and crazy" and supposedly thinks outside the box, nothing more than a purely moral argument against the yeagerists really ruined it for me.

"Floch you're right, but genocide is wrong!" (So we're going to fight you, let you die, and turn against our own people!)

This is such a lazy argument and it really pisses me off. I'm also entirely convinced that regardless of the fact that the yeagerists would likely not even exist if Erwin had survived - he would have never made such a lazy moral argument against their plans. I suppose Isayama knew he couldn't make Erwin believably say "b-but morality!!!" so he needed him gone for the ending.

I would just love to see Erwin survive, Floch following him as "their devil" and them finding some other way to deal with it all, with or without a full scale rumbling.

I’m posting this because I just wanna let my mind work a bit.

Usually when the ending is gaining critique, usually on the “100% Rumbling” subject of AOT, it’s met with, “Well civil wars would happen on paradis. The cycle of violence & conflict will still persist.” Yada yada. I’m here to tell you now, the moment that’s done, there’s so point in continuing to argue with people who pull that card even if it is a heavy theme of AOT.

The purposes of that argument is just to inflict a sense of futility with inevitably. It works under the guise of this:

“Well, things happen right? When things happen, Bad things can happen. When bad things can happen, people can get mad & violent. When people get mad & violent, war & conflict erupts. Things always happen & as long as that exists, war and conflict will always be inevitable”

While very, very, very, simplified, there’s more evidence in human history for this to be true, than not. This is part of human life & history; However, this equally means nothing because It takes away from the punctual issue at hand. This is supposed to create an image of futility that’s supposedly bound/more than likely to happen.

This is argument is simply to have people stop believing in the 100% rumbling & have you move away from the argument and logistics of the 100% rumbling. If this is done, there’s no point in continuing. There are other holes in this argument but the baseline is, theres an indirect concession of “the 100% would’ve worked”

No joke, if you watch the two part live action Attack on Titan movies and compare Eren and Mikasa's relationship there in comparison to The Manga and Anime honestly their romance kind of actually works in The Live Action.

The story was obviously going through the Erehisu route, or at least with eren being the father of the child. Eren doesn't think of mikasa at all, mikasa is still obsessed till the end and showed no signs of liking jean. Eren becomes a bitch suddenly but apparently his interaction with armin was before his conversation with mikasa telling her to forget about him and move on from him so, based. Historia gets with a random ass npc and has a child with him, her character was washed and they didn't even show her pov properly after her talk with eren. Then we get the biggest ntr ship in the show, fucking jeankasa. Jean who is literally best doesn't deserve to end up with a woman who was obsessed a genocide maniac till the end of her death. Like, this woman wore the scarf even while married, was buried beside him, was burried with the scarf, makes her husband and children visit his grave which has "Here lies my dearly beloved, the love of my life, forever drifting off into sleep." And the anime doesn't even have her think of her family but fucking eren in the 'after life' or dream. Really isiyama? This smells like titanic bullshit. Making jean wait 10 years for this shit rather than moving on with someone that deserves him, mikasa doesn't deserve this man at all. I bet that post nut clarity feels like shit when she's calling for eren and is hugging her scarf

I remember being in a group where someone translated a few things for us; they were really interesting, and I haven't seen them discussed anywhere else.

Karl Fritz and Zeke Yaeger are my favorite characters in Attack on Titan, for the following reasons:

They are radically different characters, yet they independently arrive at philosophies containing a remarkably similar underlying idea: The continuation and victory of their own people is not necessarily the highest good.

That's extremely unusual within Attack on Titan.

Most major characters—even morally complicated ones—ultimately operate within some version of protect my people / secure our future / defeat our enemies.

Karl Fritz rejects that framework. He inherits effectively unimaginable power and the legacy of the Eldian Empire and concludes that his own civilization has committed atrocities so severe that perpetuating its domination is morally indefensible. His response is extraordinarily radical: dismantle the empire, retreat to Paradis, construct the Walls, erase much of the population's memory, and renounce war through the Vow.

And, crucially, he's willing to accept the possibility that Eldians may eventually be destroyed.

Zeke independently reaches another radical endpoint: the cycle of Eldian suffering can be terminated by ending Eldian reproduction altogether.

Their methods and reasoning differ enormously, but there's a philosophical family resemblance: Karl: Our people's continued dominance does not justify perpetuating this cycle. Zeke: Our people's continued existence through reproduction does not justify perpetuating this cycle.

And both conclusions require rejecting an assumption that almost everyone else takes for granted—that the survival and flourishing of one's own group should automatically be the objective.

But Karl also introduces something Zeke doesn't embody in quite the same way: extraordinary willingness to relinquish power.

Karl possesses the Founding Titan. He is monarch of the dominant empire. Rather than asking how to use that power to secure even greater dominance, he concludes that Eldia shouldn't continue exercising it.

Whatever one thinks of his solution—and there are enormous moral problems with imposing his pacifism and memory manipulation upon millions of other Eldians—there's something philosophically remarkable about a ruler voluntarily dismantling his own empire because he believes his side is morally wrong. That takes integrity

There's something genuinely unusual about someone possessing absolute power yet using that very power to restrict the future exercise of absolute power.

Zeke Yeager and Karl both recognize something most characters don't: Defeating today's enemy doesn't necessarily solve the system that produces tomorrow's war.

Eren's solution ultimately operates at the level of overwhelming force.

Karl attacks the weapon/power structure.

Zeke attacks the biological mechanism through which the conflict perpetuates itself.

That's why Zeke's plan is so disturbing but intellectually interesting. He isn't primarily asking “How do Eldians win?” He's asking “What intervention permanently terminates the causal chain producing this suffering?”

I like characters who identify a structural problem in human behavior, reject the conventional objective everyone else is pursuing, formulate an unconventional long-horizon solution, and possess the discipline to follow that solution even when ordinary tribal/self-interested incentives point elsewhere.

Zeke and Karl Fritz embody that surprisingly well.

And Karl embodies one element even more purely than Zeke: he wins the ultimate competition for power and then refuses the prize.

For someone convinced that unconstrained power will eventually be abused, there's something especially compelling about the person with the greatest power demonstrating that he understands its danger well enough to constrain himself and his successors rather than merely assuring everyone that he can be trusted with it

I'm reading the manga for the first time, and to me it's quite cowardly that they always try to deny that Eren "didn't feel any interest in the historia Reiss."

I'm reading this page in my native language (Brazil). I looked it up in Japanese and English to see if the meaning remains the same, even for a Japanese speaker.Even a Japanese person on Twitter wondered why Eren would be so angry when Reiner said that Historia Reiss might be into him (Reiner really thought the blonde girl adored him, lol)

Then, out of nowhere, Eren freaks out at Reiner when he talks to him about it; Reiner even realizes Eren is angry and says, "Why are you so angry?"

It's pretty clear that Eren harbored some feelings or interest in the blonde Reiss, or am I jumping to conclusions?Be that as it may, if Mikasa had been present in that scene, she might have felt jealous; I have no doubt about it.

If Isayama has already clarified that he doesn't know how to write romances, then Ymir and Historia being a couple isn't really a couple, it's just something platonic.This interest stems more from Ymir, and Historia Reiss only learned to take seriously what Ymir told her about living for oneself.

The author himself makes it clear that he doesn't know how to write romance novels, so he ends up creating secondary relationships that are much better than the official couples.What makes me wonder if Ymir and Historia Reiss are truly a couple in the author's own eyes, and not in the eyes of the fans, is...Even Aot's alternate version, the blonde rich girl, doesn't care about Ymir; she's more interested in Eren.

This meme might be a generalization and it might be true but there was a time when I could actually believe it

Obviously, her character arc is basically non existent and her entire personality revolves around Eren, but I feel that has a genuine explanation. She watched Eren shank randos to save her, and she lived with the Yeagers for a long time. Considering the trauma she suffered as a kid, and proximity to the guy who saved her, I think it's plausible that she became a bit obsessed with him.

This, however, might be a bit far fetched, which is why I'm posting in the first place.

Also, I'm not saying she's wel written. Even if this is a plausible explanation, it definitely could have been better executed and we barely saw her struggle with it (or at least, I think so. I don't remember s4 all that well as I watched it 2 years ago).

They made ending defenders Mikasa who are just low IQ content junkies with no personality, they would accept whatever Isayama throws up and be happy with it calling it peak. Eren is too cool to care, he got that right as well.

I know there is very split opinions on the ending. I havent put much thought to it and want to hear some arguments about why the ending is bad

Since Sakura was obsessed with Sasuke even after the abuse. Eren didn't treat her well, and I was disappointed that she took the scarf back when she originally gave it up. It was misleading that she actually was finally getting some character development like 'I don't need no man'.

I need to know the demographics. Very important research.
