Introduce Yourself!

This community is waking back up and we want to know who's here!

Drop a comment and tell us a bit about yourself. Feel free to use this as a template:

  1. Who are you?
  2. What brought you here?
  3. Where are you from?
  4. A piece of trivia about you!
  5. A favorite piece of trivia in general.
  6. Favorite trivia app?

(If you make an app, or have a favorite app, mention it BY NAME. No links. We are still figuring out out promotional limits, so let's keep things un-spammy for now)

I'll go first in the comments...

I built a web geography game with zero labels to test how well people actually know the world map. Looking for feedback!

I wanted to introduce myself to the community! I’m a solo developer, and I recently built a browser game called Geopinpoint.

The main hook is pretty straightforward but surprisingly humbling: you get a trivia prompt (like a major landmark, city, or event location), and you have to pinpoint its exact location on a completely unlabeled world map. The closer your pin is, the more points you get.

Since this community is all about trivia apps, I would love to get your thoughts on it. If you're interested in testing it out and giving me some honest feedback on the UI or gameplay loop, let me know in the comments and I can share the name/details! (Keeping links out of the main post to respect the rules).

Looking forward to hearing what you think!

Launched a live 1v1 trivia app last month. Here’s how month 1 actually went

I launchedĀ QuizatĀ in August. Live 1v1 trivia: pick a topic, get matched, play a short duel. About 7 questions, ~10 seconds each, match is usually around a minute. iOS and Android. English and Arabic.

It’s a real-time duel, not a single-player quiz you tap through alone. You can rematch and challenge friends. There’s XP, a daily challenge, and a leaderboard, but the thing people actually do is: pick a topic → fight someone → rematch.

Topics are a mix of broad stuff (flags, general knowledge, science, movies) and local/Arabic ones (Islam, country trivia, Gulf football, etc.). Arabic players play more per person than English so far.

Month 1 numbers. Small. Honest.

Usage

  • 403 new users (551 total, including testers)
  • ~27 people playing on an average day
  • 428 unique players in the month
  • 4,644 games, 33k questions
  • ~92% of games finished
  • iOS is ahead of Android (~2:1)

Biggest countries: Saudi Arabia, US, Egypt, then a long tail.

If someone starts a game, they almost always finish it, and most play a second one. Matchmaking finds an opponent almost every time. If a real player doesn’t show, a bot fills in, so the ā€œvs a personā€ feel isn’t always real yet. That’s on me.

Retention

  • Next-day: 18%
  • Day 7: 5%
  • Day 14: 4%

That’s the part that sucks. People like the first session. They don’t have a reason to come back next week. Daily challenge / streaks / leaderboard exist and they’re not doing enough.

Money

Ads made about $9. IAP was $2 and that was me testing the purchase. Zero real paying users. I didn’t put a paywall in front of play. First month was ā€œdoes this even get played.ā€

What I want from this sub

If you play trivia apps: what actually makes you open one again after day 1? Better topics? Live opponents you recognize? A daily quiz? Leagues?

If you’ve shipped one: same question, from the other side.

Happy to answer anything about the game or the numbers

How many trivia questions do you think you can get right before the clock beats you?

Hi everyone! I am a solo developer and recently launched a free trivia app on iOS and Android called Tamakeу šŸŽ‰
It has a 30-second timed streak mode where you try to answer at least one question correctly before time runs out. Every correct answer keeps your streak alive, but one wrong answer—or running out of time—ends it!
The goal is simple: how long can you keep your streak going?
The current worldwide leaderboard record is 38, with a mix of easy, challenging, and everything-in-between trivia questions.
If you enjoy trivia games, I’d really appreciate it if you gave it a try and let me know what you think! I’m especially interested in feedback on the questions, difficulty, and overall experience.
Think you can beat 38? šŸ‘€
Thanks everyone! šŸ™Œ

I built a free browser trivia site. What would make you return every day?

I built TriviaHub because I wanted one place where I could play a quick daily trivia challenge or choose a longer topic-based quiz when I had more time.

It is completely free, works in the browser and does not require an installation.

I am currently trying to understand what actually makes people return to a trivia game:

• Better daily questions
• Streaks and score history
• More specialised topics
• Playing and comparing scores with friends
• Something else entirely

I would genuinely appreciate honest feedback, especially about the difficulty and question quality.

The site is playtriviahub DOT com. I have written it this way because clickable promotional links are not allowed here.

I made a Trivia Show Maker for Trivia Hosts

It's free to use and you can customize it many ways.

I'm still trying to figure out how the incorporate more options for the "Final Round" as many Hosts use many unique techniques... but i think there's a lot of potential here. I'd love if anyone had any ideas for feedback.

You can find it at Fat City Entertainment in the nav bar or the Trivia Store.

New update for my trivia game šŸ§ šŸŽ®

I’ve been working really hard on my indie game Trivia Knowledge Booster Quiz, and I recently released a new update!

It’s been quite a journey building and improving it on my own. The game now has Image Trivia, classic trivia, Daily Challenges, rewards, themes and avatars, and I’m still working on making it better.

Just wanted to share this little milestone with fellow trivia fans and developers here. šŸ˜„ I’d also love to hear what features you guys enjoy most in trivia games!

Looking for Trivia Feedback

Hi trivia fans!
I've been working with my podcast team to launch a trivia game starting on the web first before we move to a full on mobile experience.

The first version is out on our website and designed for a mobile experience.
I was hoping you would take the time to give it a quick test run. I have given very little context on the site as I want to make sure the user experience is as seamless as possible.

Please be sure to give it a try when you can and let me know what you think in the comments and the areas in which we can improve.
Oh and if you have a fun question that you think would make a good fit please share in the comments and we would definitely add it ASAP

Check it out on our website -thesidelinepodcast.com

My geo quiz game with innovative categories - any ideas?

Hey everyone,

I'd like to share my new geo quiz app with you namedĀ "Geo Madness".

It’s a trivia game that lets you pinpoint all kinds of places / things / creatures on a 3D globe.

So far the game features a large variety of categories. Some are rather unique, such as:

- Animal species ranges
- Celebrities' birthplaces
- Landmarks (from famous buildings to things like the Titanic wreck)

But it also includes classic geo challenges:

- Cities
- Countries
- States (US for now, more coming soon!)
- Mountains
- Rivers

Most categories are closest-guess-takes-the-point, but some categories that are about polygons (countries and states) are a-hit-gets-a-point.

Do you guys have suggestions for further categories, especially unusual ones, that might be fun?

I’d be very grateful for general feedback as well.

I built a casual web puzzle game where you claim a hex board by naming players - would love to hear what you guys think of the concept!

Hey everyone,

Like most of you here, my morning routine usually involves checking the box scores and then playing Wordle, Poeltl, or whatever daily puzzle game. Over the last few months, I decided to channel that into a hobby project and built a daily browser game that mixes all of that with basketball knowledge.

HexHoops is basketball trivia played on a hex board. Every hex is tagged with a category — "Lakers," "All-Star," "25+ PPG," that kind of thing — and you claim a tile by typing a player who fits it.Ā

My main goal is to get feedback from people with basketball knowledge on the core concept itself:

  • The Concept: If you like Wordle-style games or hoop grids, what makes those games "stick" for you? Does a court-positioning mechanic sound like a fun daily challenge?
  • Ideas for features: What real NBA concepts would be coolest to add to a daily puzzle format? (Different player eras, hot streaks, defensive variables, etc.?)

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how to make a daily basketball game truly engaging for hardcore fans. Let's discuss!

My pub quiz side project accidentally grew a Wordle-style daily mode

I run quiz nights at a venue I co-own in Bali, and I got sick of the tools available for hosting them, so I built my own. Somewhere along the way it grew a daily mode: one short trivia challenge, same questions for everyone in the world, once a day. Wordle vibes but general knowledge.

It's free. No ads, no fake "10,000 players online" nonsense. You can challenge a friend head to head and compare scores, and there's a global leaderboard.

The other half of it is for people who actually run quiz nights: you can list your trivia events for free and find ones happening near you. That part exists because finding a decent local quiz night is weirdly hard everywhere I've lived.

Not going to drop a link in the post since I'm not sure of the rules here, but happy to share in the comments if that's allowed. Mostly keen to hear what would make a daily trivia habit actually stick for you.

Geopinpoint: geo quiz

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a small map-based quiz game called GeoPinPoint and just released the first public version on Android.

The idea is simple:

  • You get a question linked to a real location
  • You answer by clicking on an unlabeled world map
  • The closer you are, the more points you get

There are different themes and I’m still adding more content and improving the gameplay/UI, but I’d really love some feedback from people who enjoy geography and map games.

Any suggestions, criticism, or ideas are welcome.

Search "Geopinpoint: geo quiz" on google play to get the app.

I still don’t understand why nobody replaced QuizUp properly

I was genuinely obsessed with QuizUp back then, so me and my co-founder recently started building something inspired by that feeling called Quelo.

Still early-stage, but would genuinely love suggestions from old QuizUp players on what made QuizUp special for you and what you feel modern trivia apps still get wrong.

Hello guys, i am developer from Bosnia, and i recently developer my first mobile app: Today Quiz

It consists of several key features:

- daily quiz (1 per day with 20 questions), everyone using the app plays the same quiz, result of this quiz is used for leaderboard for logged users

- past quizzes (dsily quizzes from previous days), can be played multiple times

- themed quizzes, quizzes about specific topics, can be played multiple times.

- Groups - logged users can create their own groups and invite friends. Groups have their private leaderboards.

- Leaderboards daily/monthly for global and groups.

New questions and themed quizzes are added regularly. Also new functionalities will come out in the future.

I hope this post doesnt violate the rules of this community, and that you can have some fun in my app and learn something new.

You can find the game on ios and android by searching for: Today Quiz

Hi everyone! I’m an indie Android developer and I recently launched my first trivia game, Trivia Knowledge Booster.

I’ve been working on it for a while as a small solo project. The game is focused on quick trivia rounds, different categories, hints, coins, and a friendly owl-themed design.

I joined this subreddit because I’m interested in trivia apps, quiz game design, question balancing, and learning from other people building or playing trivia games.

Since links are not allowed here, I won’t share a link, but the app is available on Google Play if anyone wants to search for Trivia Knowledge Booster.

I’d really appreciate feedback from trivia fans and other developers, especially on question difficulty, category balance, and features people would like to see in a trivia game.

Developing gaming trivia

Hi, I'm currently developing my quiz game, a niche trivia for gamers. If anyone curious just search for "Quiz Forge" on Play Store (Not AppStore). I just wondering what makes a trivia app good?

Are ā€œhigher/lowerā€ trivia games still fun, or too predictable?

I’ve been playing a few trivia apps lately and noticed a pattern with ā€œhigher/lowerā€ style games.

At first they feel super addictive, but after a while it starts to feel predictable or based on gut feeling more than actual knowledge.

Do you think this format still works long-term?

What makes a trivia game actually ā€œstickyā€ for you:

- difficulty?

- variety of topics?

- competition / leaderboards?

- something else?

I’ve been experimenting with a version based on real-world data (countries, stats, etc.), and I’m trying to figure out what actually makes people come back.

Curious to hear your thoughts šŸ‘€

Built a Jeopardy-style practice tool, looking for beta testers

Hey everyone,

I’ve been a long-time fan of Jeopardy! and always wished there was a better way to actually train for it, not just passively watch or do random trivia quizzes.

So I built something...it’s a simple web app where you can practice Jeopardy-style clues, work on recall speed, and get a feel for how you’d perform under game conditions.

It’s still early, but functional, and I’m looking for a small group of people who’d be open to trying it out and giving honest feedback.

If you’re someone who’s ever thought about auditioning, or just enjoys sharpening your trivia skills, I’d really value your input.

Happy to share access with anyone interested, just comment or DM me.

Thanks!

Trivia apps with gameshow-like feel?

I came to this sub years ago during the HQ/Joyride phase and I enjoyed that era. While I suppose people won't work to host trivia games, AI hosts can be created on an endless schedule of gamees potentially.

I started building out an episodic music trivia game, but it's far from done and not cross-platform. Has anyone creted Trivia app sto evoke toe HQ/Joyride feel, even if it is AI hosts? Can't really play a Trivia Crack or anything like that these days because I was so immersed in the experience of HQ and knock-offs.
