News/Articles ‘God of War’ Legend Christopher Judge Reveals Why He Turned Down Live-Action Kratos: “I didn’t want to, at 62 years old, work 16-to-18-hour days. I didn’t want to be dieting & working out constantly.”

In a recent panel at Fan Expo Canada attended by Collider's Maggie Lovitt, Judge was asked about the Prime Video series and, more specifically, Bautista taking up the role of the older, more grizzled version of Kratos as seen in God of War 2018. He's previously been somewhat critical of the adaptation and Hollywood in general for not showcasing the voices of writers and other creatives directly associated with their source material. Despite his misgivings, though, he clarified that, "First of all, I want anything God of War to be great." That includes the actor playing Kratos. His confidence in Hurst to do the role justice was high because of how much he knew the actor appreciated Kratos and the games, but he's nonetheless hopeful for Bautista. Most importantly, though, knowing what it's like to go through a rigorous transformation for such a role, what he most hopes for is that the quick turnaround to production doesn't lead to more health scares.

From the very beginning of the process for Prime Video's God of War, Judge himself has been a fan-favorite to reprise the role and apply his voice, ranging from stern and downright fierce to caring throughout the ebbs and flows of Kratos and Atreus' journey. Playing him in live-action, however, is a different beast. He described it as a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions when the search began. Originally, the idea of being a television lead once more and having to get his body in prime shape to play Kratos in his 60s didn't appeal to him at all. I didn't want to do it," he continued. "I didn't want to, at 62 years old, work 16-to-18-hour days. I didn't want to be dieting constantly; I didn't want to be working out constantly." Despite a brief change of heart after speaking with his grandson, his body and mind told him he wasn't ready to return to something that, even in his 30s and 40s with Stargate, took so much out of him.

Regardless of who plays Kratos, the lone thing that matters to Judge is having someone in the role who truly cares about the character and his journey to learning how to be more human and forge a better future for himself and his son. "So all I want is whoever... that he loves this character as much as we all do, and he just lets it fly," the actor concluded. "Don't be afraid of being emotional. Don't be afraid of being soft or whatever. As long as you lead with honesty and love, it's going to be great. So I'm happy for him."

Original post was removed for not following subreddit rules apparently, so I will make a new post and TRY to follow the rules better this time.

I will again say yes I know Linux is only around 5% of steam users, but this still sucks to see especially because the already had EAC activated with Linux compatibility.

News/Articles The studio behind Star Wars Zero Company, which is currently a Steam bestseller, has reportedly furloughed the majority of its staff right before launch

For clarity, being furloughed means you are placed on a temporary, mandatory, unpaid leave of absence from your job while technically remaining an employee.

A representative from Bit Reactor confirmed the furloughs to Game File, though didn't indicate how many employees are affected. The rep said uncertainty around the game's launch performance was to blame for the furloughs, and that they were Bit Reactor's decision and not EA or Disney's.

Other sources claim up to 80% of the studio has been impacted. According to the Bit Reactor rep, it is hoped that furloughed workers will be brought back with full pay.

A former Bit Reactor staffer, Zachariah Scott, who was let go by the studio earlier this year, addressed the furloughs on LinkedIn yesterday. "It is sick and weird to have all of these EA and Disney folks as well as Bitreactor Senior staff making all of these 10/10 posts about Star Wars Zero Company being such a huge success and praising the work of the team while seemingly concealing the fact that the team was furloughed weeks ago," Scott wrote.

He went on: "It is a gross but all too common sight to see, another corporate game hitting the top of Steam while the team is left looking for work and cut off from any possible profit sharing. It would be such a different story if they had been upfront about it earlier, and now it feels like they're trying to keep the team in a holding pattern with good vibes and more empty promises."

This is supremely cool. They also released one last balance patch that heavily reworked the game to feel more like a proper single player dungeon crawling game instead of a F2P grinding game. If you've ever had an interest, definitely check it out.

For $20, you too can experience the greatest OST in gaming history.

Tomb Raider Series Broke UK Safety Laws During Production

Lara Croft’s adventures in Amazon MGM Studios‘ new Tomb Raider series proved too much for UK safety authorities.

Britain’s Health and Safety Executive, better known as HSE, concluded that the high-profile drama breached UK safety laws during production at Shinfield Studios earlier this year, according to a previously unreported ruling.

Deadline can reveal that Project Temple Productions Ltd, the special purpose vehicle through which Sophie Turner‘s Tomb Raider series is being produced, breached the Health and Safety At Work Act 1974 and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.

HSE determined that Project Temple Productions Ltd failed to ensure that crew members underwent “biological monitoring” to ensure adequate control measures were in place for the spraying of isocyanate paints, one of the leading causes of asthma in the workplace.

HSE guidance states that appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn when spraying isocyanate paints, and that an “invisible mist” emitted by the substance can take up to 20 minutes to clear. An employer must know the clearance time for the space in which spraying is taking place.

HSE issued Project Temple with an “improvement notice” in April, meaning the company had to take action to remedy a breach of health and safety law. Within a month, Project Temple had complied with the relevant regulations, according to a notice page on HSE’s website.

It is rare for HSE to issue notices against TV shoots, with just four productions being called out by the health and safety watchdog over the past four years. Tomb Raider was the highest-profile of these productions.

Better Ask Reddit Media you wonder how it'd be received if made today?

As the title states, what're some cases where, in some alternate timeline, an old piece of media was made today, and how'd you think it'd be received?

A lot of older, foundational manga and iconic moments within would be probably get a different reception in the modern day. For example, in Dragon Ball, both Staff Sergeant Black and Master Roshi would be an even worse look. But I can also see people screaming "RETCON!" and swearing off the manga at the reveal of Goku being a Saiyan. Likewise, readers would be so fucking confused at the turn from game of the week horror shenanigans to Duel Monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh. Finally, the concept of JoJo switching out protagonists at the end of each part and the introduction of Stands would also probably throw a lot of people for a loop.

News/Articles Godzilla DAMM: Remastered devs aren't worried about launching close to GTA VI, knows Godzilla fans will show up

“Honestly, [GTA VI] wasn’t even in our heads at all when we were picking the release date. That’s not my business. I make the video games. I’m not too worried about when they come out. If Atari had come to us and said, ‘Wow, we can’t because we think it’s going to affect the sales with GTA’, we would’ve had that discussion. But no one ever said anything.

I wasn’t looking at the calendar and being worried in any way, or thinking about what other games are coming out because the Godzilla fans are very excited for it. They’d buy it on any day that it came out, and putting it out on Godzilla’s birthday, that’s just respectful.”

Better Ask Reddit What Makes a Balanced Media Diet?

Recently as part of a stopping and starting process of fixing my youtube rotted attention span, I've made the decision to try and read one book a month, finish one game a month, and watch one new movie or show a month just to start. However, what inspired this post was another post here that turned into a brief discussion about people who only watch one type of medium (Cartoons was the given example.) And another comment thread which made an interesting observation about how movies, books, and shows make for better 'water cooler' conversation with coworkers and strangers than video games.

Now, sticking to a specific medium isn't necessarily indicative of a lacking media diet. There are horror cartoons, comedy books, romantic video games-genres can carry across mediums after all. But there is I think, a general feeling that sticking to a particular medium can make things too narrow.

So today, I'd like to ask-what is your personal media diet like, do you consider it important to keep it balanced. And most importantly, what does a 'balanced' media diet look like to you? What does an unbalanced media diet look like? I'm really curious to hear some answers on this one.
