I’ve just moved back to the UK after living abroad for a few years where sours are available in almost every pub.

I don’t really like the taste of most beers and used to mostly drink cider when I last lived here.

I was wondering what is the most similar thing that would actually be available in UK pubs to try and stay drinking beer rather than going back to cider that I’ve now lost a taste for.

Any recommendations would be massively appreciated and I’m happy to try different things until I find something I like, just no idea where to start.

Bit of a local legend in Barnsley area.

In my opinion , One of best bitters around.

Fantastic rounded bitter with a perfect balance of bitterness and moreish caramel flavours.

Id definitely have again.

From what I know this beer was previously brewed by Oakwell brewery in Barnsley before it's closure.

Today together with Acorn it's brewed by Stancil brewery in Sheffield with both Acorn Brewery and Stancil using the same yeast strain as was used historically by Oakwell brewery in Tarn.

The Terrapin Hopsecutioner beer available on the Brewdog website is not the original. Had this a couple of times in New Orleans and it was a great imperial IPA but the version on the BD website is a UK brewed version and is terrible in comparison. Just letting you guys know...

As much as I like traditional ales and lagers I am open to trying fusion beers and this is spot on in my opinion.

Easy drinking crisp lager with subtle lemon flavour and at 3.4% is pretty sessionable.

Anyone else tried it ?

Not had this one before and was on draft in one of my local Taps, appreciated having the correct branded stein as well.

Just a regular Lidl purchase.

Before I start I will say one thing about this brewery. I was surprised to hear it is still independent. Especially in a time when many smaller breweries are being bought out by big business.

The beer itself isn't going to change the world but was fine. Personally I found it more of a traditional English pale / golden beer.

Went down without any fuss and seem pretty sessionable.

I would have again.

Wandered into the Asda beer aisle on a whim and found these, all marked down by a ludicrous amount.

I'm actually not drinking this month, but I can't refuse a bargain, so they'll have to wait in the fridge until next week.

There is an opportunity for drinkers to try a range US cask ales at the Peterborough Beer Festival this year... as well as the regular large UK range.

i.e. syrup whereas sugar in other forms consumed in the fermentation would not?

Does this mean Cruzcampo has more added at the end?

Also confusingly it's no longer listed as an ingredient on their website while I've definitely seen it on the can, as verified by an Internet search. What has changed. The process or labelling requirements?

I note they also state it's not suitable for vegetarians due to other ingredients in the factory.

Sorry I don't normally drink this piss but was handed a can and was curious about the weird ingredients and taste.

Anyone else noticed Aldi's Williams Bros beers disappearing?

Is it just me, or has Aldi stopped doing the Williams Bros seasonal/special beer releases?

They used to have some genuinely interesting Williams Bros stuff popping up as Specialbuys: Rocka Hula, Magma, Silver Lake, Mystic River etc. They'd absolutely fly off the shelves, at least round my way.

I know Williams Bros still have a relationship with Aldi, so I'm wondering if they've just changed the way they do the range rather than dropped them completely.

I think Aldi's beer selection is pretty poor without them. Their own-brand stuff can be alright, but the Williams Bros specials were one of the few things I'd actively look out for.

Anyone know what's happened to them? Or have I just been unlucky with my local Aldi?

It's not a seasonality thing but I really started to dislike strong stouts above 8% abv

I used to love them and they all get mega reviews on untapped yet the few I've been bought in the past year, just no. My taste buds scream too much and long for something sub 6%

Has this happened to anyone else?
