This thread is for students applying to Fall 2026 co-ops during the Spring 2026 term.

As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.

The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet

Average Canadian Co-op Earnings (2024)

WaterlooWorks Important Dates

If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Even if something is on the blacklist already if you've had a bad experience let the mod team know, as more reports increase confidence that it is problematic!

  • Console One
  • Lafarge
  • Agentmoon
  • WealthyPlanet
  • Mosaic Transit Group
  • Jobby
  • Aethos Labs
  • Onex Risk Management

Serious DO NOT RENT WITH CANADIAN STUDENT LIVING (HESPELER/FERGUS HOUSE ex rezone)

Management dumped out over 500 dollars worth of my items in my bedroom (not common room) including minifridge, and vacuum in between terms despite being an active tenant during a "move out inspection" despite not moving out.

They have also dumped out all of my keys (200 dollars worth of key deposit) and have not responded to any of emails or phone calls .

Resume Management App

I was tired of managing a million different versions of my resume so I made this website to solve it. It's not live yet, but you can run it locally. Would love to hear feedback or if anyone wants to contribute feel free to make a PR. If you like it, give the project a star.
The website allows you to make different versions of your resume, based on different sections. You can drag and drop these sections easily, rather than managing latest directly. This makes it easy to have a frontend focused resume/backend focused resume etc, and project and experience sections can be reused

Gaming friends

Hi guys!! I'm an incoming freshman, and bc I'm international I actually don't know anyone around here😵‍💫 does anyone play deadlock and would like to play together? I'm not really good at the game so playing ranked together might be hard because of the new system 🥲 (my rank is embarrassingly low)

I also am open to learning other games if anyone's willing to teach me 🙂‍↕️ (I've been wanting to try league but not sure how to start)

Also if there's any girls who plays games please feel free to reach out!! ( I'm a girl who really wants some other girls to play games with 🥹)

Advice coping with the first days of university

hi! i’m moving into residence in 3 days, and honestly finally hit me HARD that it’s actually happening lol. i’ve always been a homebody and homesickness usually hits really hard- so while i’m honestly really excited for waterloo, i’m also so sad to be leaving everyone i care about for so long

this board probably gets posts like this from undergrads a lot, but i’m hoping to hear some advice on how to deal with it. i am super excited, ready for orientation, and ready to meet tons of people. beyond that though, how do you cope once classes start?

Is tenant insurance mandatory? I've asked a couple of friends, and they said no. But I'm wondering if that has possibly changed since they moved in?

Advice Engineering helmet

Upvotes

Hi I’m incoming chemical engineering student!

I was going through websites and I found out that I could earn a yellow helmet during my orientation day.

I don’t think I’ll attend all the orientation days so I am just planning to go for first and the day that I get helmet.

Do you know when I can get an engineering faculty helmet ?

Transferring from non-Co-op to Co-op

I am a first-year student enrolled in the Math Faculty (non-Co-op), hoping to transfer into Co-op. What GPA/grades should I aim for, and are there any other requirements I should know about?

Admissions Architecture Portfolio Advice

Upvotes

Hey, I am an upcoming grade 12 student in Mississauga and I'm looking to apply to Waterloo for Architecture.

The portfolio requirements on the website are pretty vague and I'm wondering if someone is able to give me some suggestions as to what the admissions office is looking for in terms of portfolio work. Are there perhaps specific themes that typically tend to do well, or specific forms of media they prefer more than others. Does it typically work better to stick to media you are proficient at, or better to venture out of your comfort zone?

If possible if someone knows about some service or website that assesses portfolios for these universities or perhaps even a current student who would be so kind as to contact me personally and offer their help that would be extremely helpful. Thanks for your help!

Question CO 250

Hey guys, I'm thinking of taking CO 250 this upcoming Fall term as a non-Math faculty student. The course content seems pretty interesting to me and I do meet the prereqs, so I was considering taking it. Just had a few questions to get a better idea of what to expect:

  1. Does anyone have any experience with the instructors for the Fall term (Jane Gao/Kevin Shu), and could share some feedback? I wasn't able to find any feedback on UWFlow for these instructors for CO 250.

  2. Just wondering how CO courses generally are? Are there a lot of assignments/quizzes during the term? Are the exams more proof-focused or application-focused?

Thanks.

Question Transfers To Engineering?

Is transferring to engineering actually possible in march? I’m going into math after a tough rejection from mechatronics (97.5% top 6 avg) and I’m just not super excited about it. Is this normal to feel disappointed like this? I want to have a goal to transfer, so I can be motivated for high grades. If I am locked in and prove my worth with very high first term grades, is there a chance?

Discussion How hard is BIOL 130 without any prior biology experience?

Program: https://uwaterloo.ca/future-students/programs/biochemistry
BIOL 130: https://uwaterloo.ca/academic-calendar/undergraduate-studies/catalog#/courses/HyVTUKV7F3

I definitely want to do very well in BIOL 130 but I just wasn't sure if it completely relies on prior high-school knowledge, or whether it is essentially a glorified recap (which would allow me to get up to pace in time for newer content!)

Also to note, I have a relatively strong background in chemistry and organic chemistry (as well as physics if thats relevant for problem solving), so I'm not going in with no academic experience whatsoever!

On the note of "taking biology in hs," i cannot 😭. im in IB so our timetables were set in stone for 2+ years, and back then i wasn't smart enough to realize. However I have a passion for this stuff, especially chemistry and medicine.

However if it'll be really hard or unlikely to pass, then I can reconsider and do my original path; engineering or afm/econ.

I'm definitely able to self study a bit, but it is unlikely that I'll be able to master all of the content due to the sheer amount of content I have outstanding right now for school! But if light self studying is all it takes, that's also completely fine.

Lmk if there's also other things I should know.

Math127 Readiness Quiz

I’m just starting at Waterloo and heard that Calculus for Life Sciences (MATH 127) has a math readiness quiz that counts toward our grade. I was wondering if anyone has taken it before and could let me know when it usually comes up and how difficult it is. Thanks!

So I just learned that you aren’t allowed to have personal wifi routers in Waterloo dorm. I kinda need to connect my 3d printer to the wifi. Do they actually care? Also do they care about mobile hotspot from windows computers?

Advice Failed MATH 116 - ENG Equivalent Course

Hey so I failed my MATH 116 course and need to take an equivalent course to make it up. I was wondering if anyone has experience taking an equivalent course at a different university (besides Athabasca)? I know Athabasca offers MATH 267 and it's suggested by UW, but it's on the pricier side fee-wise, which I'd like to avoid if I can. But as a last resort, I'll def apply there if I can't find anything else.

Has anyone taken another math course from a different university that was pretty manageable? Ideally, I just want to avoid a 60%+ final exam if possible and find something that's completely online for this fall term.

So far, I've reached out to UNB, Trent, and Memorial. However, I haven't gotten a straight answer on whether their equivalents to MATH 116 are being offered this semester. Except for Trent, which is a no go.

Thanks everyone!
