Discussion Update on Rules and Quality Control
Hi everyone, it's been a minute since the initial discussion post about quality control issues. Let's talk about it.
The general consensus seemed to be that our ideas on what to change were good, though there could be more resources to help beginners. We actually have a subreddit wiki that anyone can contribute to, as long as you have 500+ subreddit karma and your account is 30+ days old. We also have a list of todo items for the wiki to help users find somewhere to start.
Another concern was that the stricter enforcement of the defaults rule may stop people from using existing color schemes or themes at all. This is not the case -- the intention of the rule is to remove posts which have little effort or just use premade configs, like many macOS and Windows lookalikes. It's about the spirit, not the letter of the rule.
With this in mind, we intend to go through with these rule changes. If you still have any concerns, please reply or send a modmail! We're most concerned with the quality of our community and welcome discussion.

Screenshot [Hyprland] Lain Matugen-Themed Custom Rice (duskylinux)
this is my first time getting into linux/ricing and ive been pretty happy with this hyprland configuration n rice ive been able to achieve thanks to https://github.com/dusklinux/dusky
not only that, but Dusky brings with it a ton of QoL features n built in scripts for installing/setting up various programs (although I had to change a few things to suit my taste) I think they're excellent dotfiles to use as a base if u are just like me that doesnt know where to start ricing from scratch.

Material [hyprland] ASCII SMASH
ASCII-SMASH
Fun app you can use to generate some rice-able custom ascii animations using images or video. Use it to help rice up your system. Lots of neat features that can be manipulated to make and generate some pretty neat animations, adjust quality and size. Turn AI generated videos into ascii animations, or take a still and create your own animations, with effects and patterns to add some flair.
Find it here

Discussion [Hyprland] Cool visualizer for quickshell
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Check out repo for installation and configuration
https://github.com/coderPriyanshu007/quickshell-visualizer
clone the repo or just download the zip. Use installer to install it in your system.
supports dynamic themeing, if you have a system for dynamic color palette generation or you can use matugen.
Note: it doesn't uses much resources, ignore my potato pc and im trying out ryoku , and apparently it has comparatively higher resource usage than other distros.

Discussion [Hyprland] creative adaptive cava
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A smooth, beat-reactive wave molded directly into the top-center of the frame—responding to kicks, bass, snares, hi-hats, and vocals in real time using CAVA. Built with Quickshell on Hyprland.
update: Made it dynamic and adapt accent color

Screenshot [KDE Plasma] a gaming PC can look this good
I use cachyos with KDE Plasma and Polonium for tiling. I just found floating windows be a pain since I discovered tiling. 100% transparency might be too much but i love this Wallpaper :) I don't need any docks and bars— just the Shell and krunner. This is my first attempt to ricing Linux, and I'd like to share the result with you all. Go gentle on this newbie 😇

Discussion [OC] I'm hosting a retro-styled successor to customize.org, skinbase, boxshots and certain parts of Deviantart.
You can share screenshots of your customized desktops, upload resources, write tutorials, and find new things to try out on your own system. Pretty straight forward, and it's built using just PHP, HTML, and CSS, so it can work in older browsers.
Plz let me know what you think: custodesk.net
As of right now it's still very early WIP, but I have a few friends with me that are quickly updating the codebase and implementing new features and polishing others up.

Screenshot [Hyprland] My Apple-inspired rice
This is my first Hyprland rice after switching from Windows and experimenting with KDE.
Everything you see was made in AGS. The design was inspired by a mix of iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS. My main focus was fluidity with the animations.
This one might be controversial but I replaced my cursor with an iPadOS dot-inspired cursor that has slight easing and will morph into a pill when text editing, shrink when pressed, etc. when interacting with dock elements it’ll morph into the object’s bounds and the object will have snapping physics/gravity applied. I don’t have footage of this but I’m really happy with how it turned out and how smooth it is.

Screenshot [E16] [Plasma] Convert Enlightenment themes to Plasma
I wanted to relive the nostalgia of Enlightenment. This tool will convert the Enlightenment DR16 ethemes into Plasma 6 themes. Window decorations work fairly well. Other aspects are still a work in progress.

Hardware [DualSense] I made a script that turns my dualsense into music visualizer using cava.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The main work is being done by cava, it conveniently has raw output option, and if you set amount of bars to 3 and output to ascii, with number limit to 255, and delimeter to space and newline after each frame -- you get the exact output format that perfectly fits into leds sysfs entry for dualsense (i don't know how to write into hidraw directly so i use convenient sysfs entries :P), so there's almost nothing being left to do by the script itself.
