I've somehow accumulated around 50 empty tuna cans, and before I send them all to recycling, I'd really like to see if I can give them a second life.

They originally contained about 70g of tuna, and although I don't have the exact dimensions, they're a pretty standard small, shallow metal can.

They're all virtually identical in size.

A few things that might make them useful:

- They're metal

- They're fairly wide and shallow

- The inside edge/rim is rolled and rounded rather than sharp

- I have around 50 of them, so there's plenty to experiment with.

I'm happy to drill, punch, paint, glue, sand, etc.

I'm interested in something useful or genuinely cool, rather than simply making decorative objects for the sake of it

I'm considering things like:

- small planters

- tealight candle holders

- magnetic trays for screws and small parts

- desk/craft organizers

- tiny storage containers

- wall-mounted organizers

- something for camping or outdoor use

- some kind of modular storage system

or perhaps something completely different that I haven't thought of.

I'm also quite open to making sets of something since I have so many identical cans.

If I come up with something particularly nice, I might even make a batch to give away to friends.

So what would you do with them?

If you've seen a clever project using small food cans, I'd love to hear about it.

And if there's a particularly good way of modifying these cans that I'm overlooking, I'm all ears!

Cut the bottom off and sewed it on as an extra panel and love how it turned out

It has a small stain on it, and I just generally don’t get too excited to wear it compared to some of my other clothes, but I still think it’s really cute! Is there anything you think I could do to either change the shirt or just turn it into something else entirely?

Helppp I like to cut off the legs of old jeans to repurpose into denim shorts but now I have a bunch of jean legs and no idea what to do with them! Any suggestions?

it's a pinterest classic but i absolutely needed to make it. it's so cute put my phone into it and pretend it's a real tv.

i use only upcycled stuff like cardboard i found on the street, obviously glue and acrylic paints, those weird cylinders for manicure that i found on an amazon suprise package(im so unlucky ahh), iron wire, buttons and some beads.

then, i put some handmade stickers and some lil bows i unstitched from my underwears on it just because i felt like it lol

All materials including the acrylic paint are second-hand (gifted or thrifted)! Last pic shows my inspiration for the butterfly design ☺️

I'm making a lamp out of these mannequin legs but I can't figure out how to make them stand. They have holes in the feet and back of one calf but no fixings. The legs are hollow. Any suggestions?

Took a green desk lamp and painted it to look like a mushroom. Top glows under uv light too!

The main part is fine which is why I didn’t notice when I bought it.

Back at it again, this has become one of my favourite crafts. Had some overalls that didn't fit me in a way that I found flattering so I upcycled them with some sick bleach dye art. Now I find the fit doesn't matter at all because I'm too focused on the design 😌

I free handed this baby with only a few references so I totally messed it up a few times, but she seems forgiving

The outside is made of upholstery fabrics, and the insides are a lighter weight fabric. All of these were created from fabric that would otherwise be trash.

so i have kind of an odd situation (or maybe you guys have seen something like this before!). i have this box (pictured) that i inherited from my grandmother. it's supposed to be used for organizing embroidery thread, in little baggies that have hooks to hang from those rails. i used it for many years, but recently i've reorganized my embroidery supplies and ended up emptying it out. i don't think i'd use this box for anything else, either, but i don't want to just throw it away. my grandma died when i was pretty young and i don't have a whole lot of things to remind me of her. i've been trying to think of ways to upcycle this, or at least use a piece of it in a keepsake, but i'm drawing a blank. any ideas? it's made of cardboard covered with glossy paper that's peeling at one corner but otherwise mostly intact.
