This gelatin silver print entitled "Spanish Peaks" was taken by David DeHarport circa 1942-1943. In the photograph, two trees in the foreground stand on either side, framing the Spanish Peaks in the background.

The United States Congress designated the Spanish Peaks Wilderness in 2000, and it now has a total of 19,226 acres ⛰️ ⛰️

📸 DeHarport (1921-2001) was a photographer, archaeologist, and anthropologist. Between 1937-2000, DeHarport photographed much of the southwestern United States, specifically focusing on Colorado and the Four Corners region. Much of his work focused on abandoned agricultural and mining towns in Colorado, as well as landscapes of the state's eastern plains.

BREAKING: Walsenburg motorists would do well to steer clear of Seventh Street just west of City Park for now.

Walsenburg Police have cordoned off much of the block between Olive Street and Ash Ave. A sheet-draped body can be seen on the sidewalk in front of 811 W. Seventh.

Walsenburg Police Chief Bill Vinelli said his officers are securing the scene, awaiting the arrival of an outside investigative agency, and would not comment further.

At the moment, the police action is further straining traffic congestion in the area as a result of the Hwy. 160 road construction.

NOTE: this is a repost, with a photo removed.
