As somebody that has been to many festivals it's still mind-boggling to me. It takes so little effort to keep your little area clean.

Also always reminds me how we in the rich West have a habit of arrogantly looking down at the trash in poor countries. But that's how it looks the moment nobody cleans up after people. It took only days to look like this.

Appreciate you saying this. where people in developing countries get judged for having 'no sense of civic duty', this highlights that the main difference may actually be good goverment services cleaning up after inconsiderate people. Not making excuses for littering, just saying perhaps its wrong to judge people from poorer countries.
