Hello everyone! A couple days ago, someone posted about a mysterious fungus/mushroom on a bush walk in Henry Sumerset Reserve, I got curious, so I went out on an adventure, since I wasn't too far away. At the reserve was a couple paths, I ended up taking the two which didn't lead to anywhere, just as I was about to give up, i decided to explore this cool fallen tree I found, climbed it a little, and as I was turning around, I saw it!! It's a lot smaller in person, about the side of my palm, I got so excited that I took a few photos, and for any nerds, I have a 3D scan of it!

Now you might be wondering, what is it? Here's a couple things I noticed about it when I was there'

Touch; It felt rough, very tough, and sorta rubbery, definitely not any kind of fungus I've felt before, definitely not one, too hard to bend.

Looks; It definitely didn't look like a fungus of any sort, too artificial, I assumed it looked more like a piece of rubber that was wedged into it during any machining or wood cutting during the setup of the trail.

Taste; hell no.

It also had no smell to it, if anyone was wondering, maybe some hints of rubber, mostly smelt like tree.

In the end, it definitely wasn't any fungus or mushroom, to everyone's disappointment, though, it was a fun find!

Furthermore, if anyone would like to see this 'fungus' in the future, I've got the coordinates for anyone interested! It's on the right at the fallen tree, you cannot miss it. I've attached a generous amount of photos, hopefully helping guide along where to go, hope you find it!

TL;DR; Not fungi, is rubber.

North America (country/state in post) [United States] What is this fungus/these fungi I found in my container of my indoor potting mix?

Sorry if the pictures are low quality (I have shaky hands), I can try and upload more if they aren't good enough!

For reference:

The soil is stored in a sealed plastic container (which I believe is airtight) in my non-temperature controlled garage. Up until now I haven't seen anything like this while using this container/soil, or seen any visible fungus on the houseplants I have used.

All of the visible fungus seems to only be on the very top of the soil. The soil has been relatively untouched for a few weeks, but I did use it earlier in August.

The soil is FoxFarms Ocean Forest, which is not directly stated to have any mycorrhizae added, but I did use the Happy Frog soil (from the same brand) in the same container previously, though I'm having trouble finding out what species are actually contained in that products soil.

I know its probably (hopefully?) nothing dangerous, but should I be cautious about using this soil indoors?

Hai hello everybody this is my first time looking at this sub and I wanted to ask a bunch of questions. I found this mushroom in a potted plant this morning and I wanted to know what sort of mushroom it is. I picked it up with a plastic bag and I'm already thinking of throwing it in the trash bc I'm scared it's poisonous (I have a cat who likes to play where the plant was. I'm not taking any risks). Even then I'm still curious. What type of mushrooms is it? Can I do something so that it doesn't sprout on the potted plants anymore?
