I pay 250-350 a month for power, living alone in a 2 bedroom apartment. They just keep raising it every year. Internet is about $100 a month. Rent is $1050.

That's unfortunate. I'm in CA and our gas & electricity's under the same company. $350/month was winter & there are 6 people in my house. You should look for cheaper internet.

Cheaper would be better if they werent the sole provider in my area. Fiber hasnt made it up my hill yet. My ACs are off, I have one light on in my kitchen. Turn my computer off every night. Upstairs neighbor pays even more. We have NYSEG.

Are you in Texas or somewhere with a screwed up power grid? I have a 3 storey house with a hot tub and I don’t even pay half that for electricity.

Where do you live? Rent and internet are normal prices, but 1 person shouldn't be more than $150/month at the absolute most. What do you pay for elec?

That's a wild rate for electricity

I live in NJ, small home (3 bed, two stories like 1200 sqft)

We pay $300-350 in the summer running central air nearly constantly and have the central air unit/install cost baked into our bill

Maybe stupid question.

Do you pay directly or does the landlord bill you?

Mind sharing state or provider?

Just feels so crazy high

Yeah. 250 is a pretty good month where I live. It's really easy to get close to 500 a month without any extravagances.

Damn, your 2 bed rent is as much as a crappy studio apartment, I'm jealous

Yeah, if only my landlord didnt sell the house to a guy that wants to move in. All other apartments im looking at are about 1300 for a similar size.

I pay $250-$350 for electricity/gas in the winter. During the summer it’s $65-85.

Jealous.

I have the opposite problem. It's like $70 during the winter and 250 in the summer. Living in the desert uses a lot of AC.

Then you’re leaving shit turned on all the time.

Your dwelling is likely under 1000 sq feet, given the rent of $1050

$250-350 for electricity is WAY to high, like 2x for someone living by themselves. You’re paying the power equivalent of a family of 4. And I promise it has nothing to do with where you live.

You’re just consuming too much.
