Depends where you live. USA isn't the only place with dollars.
My electricity is minimum 150, and that's with a concession rebate, turning everything off every night, not showering too often (electric hot water), and turning on ac for an hour or two once a week if I'm desperate.
Internet is 100 /month for 1gb

Would also explain the choice of $19/hour, 19 is a weird number to be random and the western provinces have minimum wage that is above $18 but less than $19 per hour.
I mean I have 1000mb/s connection which I pay for 30€/month and my phone bill is 25€/month with 300mb/s connection with unlimited data. I guess being in 3rd world country like USA has bad perks like that...
nah, for a mcol+ are (apart from internet), they're pretty close-ish. like for the summer, i can believe a 250+ electricity bill if you're running AC all day. again, water and int is high, but they're bundling other shit in their like gas/trash/phone, its close, still way to high but close.
If they're driving a "luxury" vehicle, even if its old and beat up, or generally any vehicle that's known to be hard to work on, they generally have higher insurance, and if they had a ticket before that can also raise their insurance rates.
they're maybe off by like a bill or two, but honestly 1600 is also really cheap for an apartment, so to me it equals out in the end.
Internet could very well be Xfinity, they price gouge like crazy after the intro rate is over.
Both electric and water could depend on the companies.
The last place I lived in Detroit, it wasn't uncommon to get a $600 electric & gas bill a month during summer, or a $150+ water bill, even tho 18 hours a day there was minimal if any utilities used due to work schedules. Because the companies damn near have a monopoly over em and they're known to overcharge. Also had the meter replaced, and an inspection for illegal hookups (none), and it didn't affect the bill at all 🤷🏻♂️
I always went unlimited data with my phone in lieu of highway robbery that was at the time cable/internet package for the "better deal"
And I wonder how many times door dash or food service is used for bs like Starbucks. Limited income. No limit your (not you general statement) wants and frivolous spending.
You know the "make coffee at home" thing? I do. I have done the math for how much a cup costs me in beans, filters, water, and electricity. 26¢ a cup. Comparing that to a $3 coffee (so a real coffee, not a double chocolate mocha matcha double whipped oat milk smoothie or whatever for like $12).
I drink about a cup (sometimes 2) a day, but I wouldn't if I had to drive somewhere to get it, so a coffee on say the way to work would cost me $685 a year over making it myself, or about $57 a month. That's not much of a difference with rent or food, but over a few years that's a decent emergency fund.
It's also better coffee. Get yourself a pourover cone and a hand grinder. Really good coffee, and cheap equipment too.

People making up numbers just to complain. I know it is expensive but these numbers don't really track.
