Season 1-6 are currently available on Netflix and HBOmax. Season 7 will be available soon.

This information is accurate for within the United States as of 6/20/2024.

Please limit any questions about how to watch/stream Young Sheldon, including how to watch outside the United States, to this stickied thread.

Question Why didn't Sheldon's family appear in the future timeline of the finale?

Post image
214 Upvotes

The show had grown bigger than just Sheldon by that point, it felt weird not to see the family one last time in the future timeline to fully take in how much they've all changed. Especially since Missy and Mary's (if she's still alive in the future) actors have been established since TBBT season 1.

Discussion New to the community. Very surprised by the lack of love for Dale

So the show started out strong, evolved nicely, peaked, had a middling season 5, and then, sadly, took a nosedive in the last two seasons. But! Whenever Dale was on-screen I freaking rejoiced — no matter what season it was.

Imagine my surprise when I ran a search, and it came back saying that the fandom had a bunch of favorites, but no mention of Dale.

When you think about it, Dale is the singular adult in the entire show who truly knows what they want from life. He's a reliable, relatable, side-splittingly funny and wonderfully performed character. He's smart, experienced and exceptionally honest, which makes his quips and jabs all the more hilarious. How is he not the community's favorite?!

Where my Dale stans at?

all hail billy sparks

Upvotes

I feel Billy Sparks is actually a very gifted character, even though the show portrays him as a dumb, low-IQ kid. His innocence itself feels like a gift. When someone tries to bully him or make fun of him, he often isn't aware enough to understand the joke or even realize that he's being made fun of. In a strange way, that's almost a blessing,he doesn't have the awareness to be hurt by things that would deeply affect someone else😭 Despite everything, he always remains a pure, innocent, and genuinely happy kid, completely untouched by the cruelty around him.

Mary writing her own SMUT

Mary reading and writing her own smut was the best subplot of the season.

The smut fantasy, was a brilliant way to showcase Mary's desires and hopes.

That section alone elevated her into a character deeper and complex than the what seemed on the surface.

Mary's version of smut was meeting an attractive man at a bar, and spend the evening talking about her hopes dreams and desires.

The fantasy seemed very predictive at first but takes quite a surprising turn to say the least.

What do you guys think?

Sheldon becomes less of the focus in later seasons

So yeah the title speaks for itself, I'm on season 7 right now and I've realized the shift in the show so clearly especially after Germany and Mary leaving the church, I honestly don't know how to feel about this because at the same time it's not like sheldon is my favourite character infact I really like Georgie and his storyline with Mandy got quite a bit of attention in later seasons, but I feel like the show lost its vibe because of it. I feel like I'm not watching the same show, it's also partly because everyone's older now but I've seen shows like this where that happens but the essence of the show is never really lost. It's weird saying it but I lwk miss Sheldon in his own show.

Opinion Mandy is rude and enlightened brat.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but Mandy is perhaps the worst character on the show.

In season 7, when George Sr. Is playing peekaboo with CeeCee and she starts crying, Mandy walks in saying "what's wrong with you" in the most rudest way possible.

And let me underline the situation by reminding y'all that George Sr was very supportive with Georgie and Mandy's pregnancy, more than Mandy's own father.

Not to forget that Mandy slept with Georgie AFTER learning about his true age. That was messed up on multiple levels.

I wished Georgie had taken his dad's advice and hadn't gotten married to Mandy just because she got pregnant.

Discussion Anyone else really annoyed by the inconsistencies in BBT and YS?

I just finished watching young sheldon and it made me wanna rewatch big bang theory but the inconsistencies between young sheldon’s end and all the theories and childhood memories of sheldon is infuriating! Specially all the later mentions of age of his father when the episode when he died was so emotional and made a havok on my nervous system

Discussion If Paige, Dr. Sturgis, Dr. Linkletter etc. guest starred on Stuart’s spin off, what should their role be?

Question is in the title. What are your ideas for sci-fi alternate universe versions of the Young Sheldon side characters?

Discussion Who was the better mentor for Sheldon? Sturgis or Linkletter?

Personally, I think Sturgis cared more, but Linkletter holding Sheldon to actual university standards was a necessary reality check

Opinion Just finished YOUNG SHELDON TODAY

Just finished you YOUNG SHELDON today

It is the first time maybe I have seen a series I started in maybe somewhere around June July But I love this show so much man

Georgie so cool He shaped the last three seasons' storyline mostly Don't forget to mention meemaw too He worked at Dale's shop he was a natural salesman and had the best hair he was cool with everything I wish he could've married veronica but Mandy's hot too He's the COOLEST !!!

Sheldon is very annoying sometimes but that's what he should be like and love him that way and maybe he was the one who grieved his father's death the most maybe in a weird way but yeah he cared he spent most of his time with George and Dr Sturgis

Meemaw is so cool she was so funny and her boyfriends played very major roles in the show which of first was Dr Sturgis who had major role in Sheldon's career and then Dale who gave georgie and George both a job to help them he was a good man and he loved Connie and helped her with gambling room top

Missy was always alone and that's why maybe she behaved inappropriately it was justified Mary was weird and mostly focused on sheldon but she was great

Mary was weird she always was busy with the lord the church and sheldon she never really focused on the other two but she was also hardworking and religious

George always tried what he could do and he was there for everyone but everybody just let him down he was a great man he always treated all of his children equally I tried to control my urge to cry so hard in those episodes but I couldn't Wayne just increased it

But there's a problem I watched Young Sheldon first

Now what should I watch now Georgie's and Mandy's first marriage or THE BIG BANG THEORY

Give your opinions

HOT DAMN!!!

Hi, I tried to recreate Meemaw's car in GTA 5. What do you think ?

What is a very minor plot hole that you noticed?

In season 2 when Georgie is 15 he attempts to make himself a cup of coffee but Mary does not let him. However in season 7 when Missy is 14 Mary sees her drinking coffee but does not protest.

Iain Armitage deserves more credit for just how difficult Sheldon’s dialogue is

A little appreciation for Iain Armitage and just how difficult playing Sheldon actually was

The more I watch Young Sheldon, the more impressed I am by Iain Armitage.

It’s easy to overlook just how technically difficult that role is. Sheldon routinely has the longest, fastest, and most complicated dialogue in a scene—scientific terminology, mathematics, historical references, obscure vocabulary, and entire paragraphs delivered at a pace where one misplaced word could throw off the whole exchange.

And Iain was doing this as a child.

What amazes me most is watching his mastery develop season after season. He doesn’t simply memorize the words. He delivers them rapidly while maintaining Sheldon's cadence, facial expressions, timing, physical mannerisms, and interactions with the other actors. The dialogue still sounds like something Sheldon is thinking, rather than a young actor reciting an enormous block of memorized text.

That takes an extraordinary combination of memory, discipline, timing, concentration, and acting ability.

As the series progresses, you can actually watch him become more precise and comfortable with incredibly demanding material. Some of those rapid-fire Sheldon monologues would be challenging for an experienced adult actor, yet he handles them so naturally that you almost forget how difficult what he is doing really is.

Whatever anyone thinks of Sheldon as a character, I think Iain Armitage deserves enormous respect for the level of craftsmanship he brought to that role from such a young age. It’s genuinely remarkable.

Discussion Can we talk about Sheldon and how I wanted to punch him almost infinitely?

I'm rewatching the whole series again for the 2nd time, and I'm on the 6th season currently, and so far, rewatching how he acts makes me want to help both Missy and Paige kick him in the face and make sure he has black eyes in both of his eyes lmao.

I understand he is VERY smart intellectually, but the way he thinks, being insensitive, and looks down on other people while also demanding respect and entitlement is making my blood boiling even its I know this is only a show; he expects to give what he wants or else he would throw tantrums like a child despite saying he has a mind of a 50-year-old person but ain't acting mature with his peers a few years older than him. He identifies himself as an old person, but he ain't prepared for what the real world would throw at him and calls his mommy Mary lol. He doesn't care what anyone's going through, and he would make someone's situation miserable that they already are.

The twin test performed says a lot about him and Missy, and he assumes everyone would worship him for being highly intelligent. He also doesn't want to be with other people, especially people in his age range, and he'd rather be alone. If ever his wife gave up on him, I'd be glad to watch him grow old alone and that loneliness would be the result of his wrongful actions. He's very and heavily materialistic.

Idk why he isn't like Paige, who's intellectually smarter than him, but she wants to enjoy life as a normal kid and as a normal human being. The series should've included more punching Sheldon's butts moments, so I'd be satisfied as payback for his attitude.

Love the nuance

Absolutely love how nuanced the characters are! There's no black and white, everyone is shades of grey.

I tried re-watching BBT to see the future versions of these characters, but just couldn't get through how many characters seemed like caricatures- not real people. Plus the incredible sexism and the god-awful laughter track.

Braindead morons from TikTok have made this subreddit a ridiculous mess

How many posts do we need about Mary Cooper's parenting? I did a quick count and there are 6 in the last 2 days, and that is not including ones that praise George's parenting as a backhanded slap against Mary's parenting.

I realize attention spans aren't their forte, but all it takes is to scroll down for maybe 4 seconds and they'll find another post on the same topic they could easily contribute to. Guess their focus starts to wane after a second or two and they just click "Create".

Opinion Young Sheldon spoiled us all by letting us hear Jim Parsons narrate.

I wish they wouldn't have done so. I hadn't watched TBBT yet and thought it was a different universe, I watched Young Sheldon, heard older Sheldon narrate and thaz destroyed the possibility of Sheldon dying at the season finale. Bad director.

Edit: Yes I know an actor can be in more than one tv show/film(thanks to the smart ass redditors), I just wasn’t expecting to see memaw pop up on my screen while watching this.
