Here's a look at the new OCG Deluxe Duel Set: Sky Striker Ace opened for a closer look; plus my initial thoughts on the set.
So for starters, what you're getting is already publicly available, so I'll spare you the novel, but some key things are of course the two overframed Prismatic Secret Rare cards of Linkage and Widow Anchor - the "pull cards" of the set. These come with two very high quality magnetic card bricks for protection. I find them as really nice additions! I'll go over highlights of each addition to this set, but not make every single card or anything like that.
The box this set comes in is "Strikingly" beautiful too! It's fully wrapped in a sturdy yet soft, stitched leather-like material with artwork on all sides. And, as an added feature, the box completely unfolds into a play mat, featuring Zero from the alt art overframe Linkage card, included in the set. The mat doesn't have any card zones in the design, but in my short test, still provides plenty of room for a full player's field if chosen to be used as such.
Next, you're getting a 40 card set of Ultra Rare prints of each core Sky Striker card, with the multiples - like Raye, Roze, and Engage - having alt arts for each copy. You also get 1 Sky Striker token card for Hornet Drones.
(Note that you are NOT getting 3 Engage copies or 2 Lemnis Gate copies for those that want competitive builds out of the box. You will have to add those if deck building with these.)
In addition to the cards, you're getting plenty of card sleeves, with enough for the 40 cards included, plus plenty of extras. They have a nice gloss to them which I appreciate.
For accessories, the set includes a beautiful 'stitched leather' styled accessory case with a nice, soft interior for carrying your token card, dice, etc. The box is honestly really nice quality and one of the best additions to this set. It has this soft magnetic-closing top and gives off nice jewelry box vibes. It's the same material and magnetic lock as the main box, so having them match makes any Sky Striker enthusiast giddy, I'm sure! And last, you will get two enamel pins, which feature each of Raye and Roze's 'faction' logos, which is a lovely touch.
(Note: I thought at first that the accessory box was for the cards. It is not. It is just barely too tight to fit the cards and is meant for accessory storage. You will need a deck box.)
So my overall impressions of this set are very high. It's the first Deluxe Duel Set I've personally invested in, and I'm very pleased. As an avid Striker player, this set really delivered! It's a beautiful addition to any yugioh collection and a must-have for Sky Striker players/fans in particular.
Competitive Focused: Keep in mind, to have a competitive-ready deck, third copies of Engage, Widow Anchor, Linkage, Zero, and Kagari, a second copy of Lemnis Gate, as well as copies each of Amatsu, Camellia, and Engage Zero! (link monster) which are absent from this set entirely, will all need to be added, in addition to any non-engine cards of your liking (I'm looking at you, TY-PHON).
