Hi all. I just got diagnosed terminal and want to make my departure fun.

I invested a bit in planning, but still missing some quality executions. (sry English not my first language).

Are there choirs (like multiple women being paid to cry) here in Adelaide, or wide in South Australia? Not looking for professionals, but you have to be a female and be able to cry on demand. Trans people are also welcome. Moreover, trans preferable (double pay), just to piss off my homeophobik part of family.

There will be a rehearsal tho, just want to make the quality worth my money and time.

A hiker is missing at Mount Remarkable National Park in South Australia.

The woman failed to return from a hike yesterday, prompting a late-night search by PolAir and local crews.

A renewed search is commencing this morning, with police patrols, Mounted Operations and SES volunteers.

The popular hiking spot in South Australia's Mid North region is about 250 to 290 kilometers north of Adelaide.

I found a very sad watch at 6pm tonight on Level 7 of the UPark on Rundle. It still works twice a day, so I put it on the fire hose reel in case it's owner comes looking for it.

I’m an Adelaide parent concerned about the growing reliance on personal devices in our schools.
I’m supporting a national petition called Fewer Screens More Learning, which has now received more than 28,000 signatures. It asks for no routine student-facing devices in primary schools and less reliance on one-to-one devices in high schools.
This is not about removing technology altogether. Teacher-led technology can be valuable when it has a clear purpose. The concern is when individual screens start replacing books, handwriting, paper-based activities and interaction with teachers and other students.

With suicide the leading cause of SA deaths in men 15 to 44, this is welcome news

I’m honestly so fucking sick of the way the Malinauskas government is treating the Adelaide Park Lands like they’re just vacant land waiting to be monetised.

I live right next to the Park Lands and have done so for the last 15 years. And before anyone says “well you chose to live there” - yes I did. I knew the Adelaide 500 (or Clipsal as it was back then) happened once a year and I accepted that.

What I didn’t sign up for was the government continually expanding motorsport and shutting down public roads and Park Lands for longer and longer periods. During the Adelaide 500 road closures my normal 20 minute drive to work can take almost 1.5 hours. That’s not a minor inconvenience. Then there’s the constant noise (the army planes ffs), traffic, disruption, fencing, construction and everything else that comes with it. God forbid you are a shift worker, and what was now 1 weekend a year of NO REST because of the noise, may become weeks? A month? It is so insanely disruptive to day to day life in every way possible.

Don’t even get me started on being a woman walking through the park lands with the construction workers present for weeks and all the drunk event goers.

And now apparently we need motorcycle racing as well, with roads potentially closed for even longer? How much is enough?

These are the Adelaide park lands. They’re heritage listed and they’re not there for Peter Malinauskas’s personal events venue to keep carving up every time someone waves a dollar sign in front of the government. It fucking pisses me off. It feels like every decision about the Park Lands is justified with “but think of the economic benefit”, as though making money automatically overrides everything else.

What about the people who fucking live here? What about noise? Traffic? Wildlife? Trees and the environment? Access to public land? The heritage value of the Park Lands? Or do none of those things matter as long as we can announce another shiny “world-class event” and slap a dollar figure on the supposed economic benefit?

I'm not anti-motorsport. The residents tolerate the Adelaide 500 every year because it's an established event and I understand that major events are good for Adelaide.
But there has to be a line; once we decide heritage-listed Park Lands can be increasingly developed, fenced off and disrupted for commercial events, where exactly does it stop?

This government seems absolutely obsessed with major projects and events, and I wish there was even half as much enthusiasm for protecting the things Adelaide already has. The park lands are one of the best things about this city. Once they're chipped away at, we don't magically get them back. Maybe instead of constantly asking “how much money will this bring in?” the government could occasionally ask “should we actually fucking do this?”. Everyday on my way to work I almost want to cry thinking of how the area will be decimated for greed. It’s not just the Moto GP, but the residents have already been protesting against the development plans of 8,10,12 story buildings in an area mostly composing of single and double story homes. A recent development that went up looks directly into my bathroom and blocks all sunlight from the house. Lucy hood was helpful in helping us protest against it, but after all that it’s still going ahead.

Interested to know if I'm alone here because the whole thing is starting to make me ANGRY everyday!!!

Edit because people are missing the point entirely:

This isn't "I live near the city therefore nothing inconvenient should ever happen near me." I already said I accept the Adelaide 500 and have lived with it for 15 years. I used my experience because it's the impact I personally see, not because I think the park lands belong to the people who live next to them. My actual concern is the precedent we're setting for the park lands.

They belong to all of Adelaide. They're public green space that people can use every day without buying a ticket or spending a dollar. A ‘third space’ if you will. I don't think "this event will generate X million dollars" should automatically trump every other consideration about how that land is used.

I'm also not arguing Adelaide should never host major events. Of course it should. I'm asking where the line is.
If we accept increasingly long closures, permanent infrastructure, removal of vegetation, fencing and commercial occupation of park lands because each individual proposal has an economic benefit, at what point are we allowed to say the cumulative impact has gone too far?

Calling anyone who questions that a NIMBY basically avoids the question.

You can support development, tourism and major events while also believing some things are worth protecting from commercialisation. Those aren't contradictory positions.
And ironically, the argument that I'm somehow trying to keep the Park Lands for people wealthy enough to live nearby is the exact opposite of what I'm saying. They're valuable precisely because you DON'T need to own property nearby, buy a ticket or spend money to use them.

That's the point I was trying to make.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a great female GP who has been warm and supportive? I’ve had a few bad experiences and have a lot of medical anxiety from previous encounters so really looking for someone who can create a calm and comfortable experience when discussing potentially challenging health things 😊

Legislation to stop homebuyers being left high and dry by developers misusing sunset clauses in contracts will soon be introduced to SA parliament.

Under current arrangements, sunset clauses allow both parties to terminate contracts if homes are not completed by an agreed date, but can be misused — allegedly by developers who want to cash in on rising property values.

The SA government says it will conduct consultation in the coming weeks and wants to introduce legislation to parliament by the end of the year.

The design of Adelaide's new MotoGP street circuit has received mixed reviews from motorsport fans and riders. 

Some have applauded the safety features but fear it won't make for interesting racing, while others have lamented the removal of longstanding track elements. 

Adelaide's first MotoGP event is scheduled for November 2027, with officials expecting more than 180,000 fans to attend.

I take the Flinders and Seaford trains regularly, and for a while I’ve had significant delays or cancellations nearly once a week in the evenings. What’s going on? Why do the lines fail so regularly? What are they doing to stop it????

Working at Cleanaway Daniels — my experience

If you're considering applying for a driving role at Cleanaway Daniels, good luck to you.

My strong advice would be:

know your rights,

consider joining a union, and

keep written records of important conversations, instructions and incidents.

My experience with the workplace hasn't been what I expected, and I've decided it's time for me to move on.

I'm not going to turn this into a massive rant or name individual people. I'll simply say that, based on my own experience, I'd recommend anyone considering the role to go in with their eyes open, know their rights, and keep good records.

The statement says all centres remain open as normal, for now. But shall I start looking for a new centre now because of the uncertainty about the future? I don’t know much about business and I’m not sure how it would unfold.

I actually like our local edge centre, and our kid has finally settled in there. We had to move him between centres twice previously due to relocation amd each time he struggled for a long period before becoming comfortable and settled. We really don’t want to move him to another centre and make him start all over again.

I’ve been in Adelaide for almost a year now, and honestly, I feel like I’ve spent most of that time just studying, working, and going home. 😅21 M

I see people going out on weekends, having drinks, going on random adventures, hanging out with friends, etc., and sometimes I genuinely wish I had people to do that with.

I’m quite introverted and honestly not very good at approaching people or starting conversations out of nowhere. It’s not that I don’t want to meet people — I just struggle with making that first connection.
So I thought I’d finally put myself out there and ask: are there any genuine people around Adelaide who are also looking to make new friends?

I’m pretty open to anything — grabbing food, going for a walk/hike, having a drink, checking out places around Adelaide, playing sports, or just chilling and talking.
I’m not looking for anything weird or anything like that, just genuine friendships and people who are also keen to get out of the house and actually do something.

I’m trying to get a better idea of what Adelaide is actually like before uni. I’ve looked at the usual stuff online but thought I’d ask people who actually live there. I’m mainly wondering about things like getting around, grocery costs, finding places to study, meeting people and what there is to do when you’re not at uni. I’m also looking at different places to stay at the moment uni accommodation, private rentals and places like Amber Housing.

Has anyone else had an insane wait time at FMC lately? I’ve been here since 8:30am this morning and still sitting in the waiting room (almost 12 hours). It’s been ages since I’ve been to emergency here and I can’t believe how busy it is.

EDIT- since I am being chewed a new one in the replies. This is for mental health. Suicidal ideation to be exact. I went to an urgent care clinic bang on opening time this morning and was sent here. I’m not clogging up ED, I can’t get into my GP till Friday.

EDIT 2- thank you everyone who recommended the mental health clinic in the city. I called them but they recommended I stay here as they, 1. Cannot give medication, 2. Don’t have beds or places you can stay. Their function is a mental health chat and then they refer back to hospital when serious, so I’m stuck here.
