First of all, sorry in advance if I used the wrong flair or if this isn't really appropriate for the sub.

My family and I are thinking of moving to a new place around January next year. We've been living in our current home in Lower Antipolo for almost 3 years now, and honestly, we haven't had much chance to explore other areas because of our schedules.

Our current place is nice (it's inside a gated subdivision with 24/7 security) but the rent is already at ₱19K. It's probably because the apartment was brand new when we moved in and we were the first tenants. At the time, though, security was our priority since my wife was pregnant, and it was also convenient for her to be near her mom while I'm usually out of the house for more than 12 hours a day.

Now that our kids are a bit older (5 and 2), we're thinking of moving somewhere more affordable, but still decent and safe for the family.

Can you guys recommend any nice areas in Antipolo for a family of four? Ideally, we'd like somewhere inside a gated subdivision. If not, we'd also be open to areas that are generally safe and kid-friendly, where the kids can go outside and play (with supervision, of course).

Would appreciate any recommendations, especially from those currently living in Antipolo. Thanks!

When me and my family moved here around 2009 I was never really used to the country side where there's barely any lights, cold, windy, and quite nights but here it was peaceful.

The next few months urbanization started, new subdivisions, houses, cars, streetlights, and more people have come. The night has started to be more lively.

Suddenly one night around 2010 the coldest months of the year, me and my cousins saw a swarm of lights in the middle of a large empty lot, in the grass were tiny blinking lights, so many of them, me and my cousins still remember that they filled the whole lot surrounding our house, we caught them and saw their lights like it's beating, my uncle caught one and put it a glass and we saw how bright it was until we let it out.

I still remember my parents and family outside just gazing and appreciating the view, but alas we all had to sleep and the night ended. Me and my cousins were hoping to see them at night again and so we waited, and waited, waited, and then waited.

August 2026, I'm older and the wait is finally over, today I found out that the moment fireflies fly in that huge numbers were their last curtain call, it was their last stand to try and survive, it was their call of help. While we watched in gaze of appreciation and admiration. That colonies of fireflies once they die, they never come back.

I’ve been debating whether to post this because hanggang ngayon hindi ko rin alam kung matatawa ba ako, mahihiya, or aaminin ko na may part sa akin na na-excite sa nangyari. 😭 For context, I’m in my late 20s. I regularly get massages malapit dito sa simbahan and nagpapa-masaage talaga ako when I’m stressed, usually once or twice a month. Nothing exciting about it—book, massage, shower, uwi, tulog. I won’t mention the name ng spa nalang. 😅

Last weekend, I was out late after dinner and some errands. Almost 11 PM na, and instead na umuwi agad, naglakad-lakad muna ako because I wasn’t sleepy yet. Then I noticed this small massage place tucked inside a building na ilang beses ko na actually nadadaanan pero never ko pinansin. Hindi siya mukhang sketchy. Actually, iyon nga yung reason why I decided to go in. Glass door, warm lights, tahimik, may receptionist, and sobrang clean nung place. Parang maliit na wellness studio rather than the stereotypical massage place na naiisip mo kapag late at night.

Sabi ko, sige, why not? I asked kung ano yung longest treatment available because pagod talaga buong katawan ko. The receptionist suggested a combination treatment na almost two hours, with a foot soak, body massage, stretching, and relaxation massage. Okay naman sa akin. Then she asked something habang may ginagawa siya sa computer, “Okay lang po ba kayo sa male therapist?” Pero distracted ako and medyo mahina yung pagkakasabi niya, so akala ko ang tanong niya was kung okay lang sa akin yung available therapist. So sinabi ko lang, “Okay lang po.” Biggest misunderstanding of the night. 😭

Pinapasok na ako sa room. I changed, humiga, covered myself with the towel, then waited. After maybe two minutes, may kumatok. “Good evening po.” Pagtingin ko, lalaki. And pogi siya. Hindi yung sobrang trying-hard or mukhang model. More like clean, quiet, naturally good-looking. Probably late 20s to early 30s, around 5’10”, medium build, broad shoulders, neat haircut, slightly chinito eyes, and very clean-looking overall. Yung tipong parang mas bagay siyang nasa clinic or hotel kaysa sa massage place.

Napabangon ako nang konti. “Sorry, ikaw yung therapist?” Tumawa siya nang slight. “Yes po. Pero if uncomfortable po kayo, pwede naman natin sabihin sa reception.” Low and calm yung voice niya. Very polite magsalita, hindi madaldal, and hindi rin feeling close agad. At that point gusto ko sanang magpalit, pero naisip ko rin na late na, nakapagbihis na ako, baka wala nang female therapist, and mukhang professional naman siya. So sinabi ko, “Okay lang. Nagulat lang ako.” And that should have been the end of the awkwardness. Hindi pala. 😭

The first 30 minutes were completely normal—shoulders, back, legs. And I have to admit, ang galing niya. Like genuinely good. Hindi yung sobrang sakit na kailangan mong tiisin para masabi mong magaling. Controlled yung pressure niya, and parang alam talaga niya kung saan yung tense areas. Eventually, nakarelax na rin ako. Nakalimutan ko na actually na lalaki siya until he started working on my legs.

Nothing inappropriate happened. Professional naman lahat. Pero dahil male therapist siya, suddenly aware na aware ako sa bawat movement niya, especially kapag ina-adjust niya yung towel or kailangan niyang lumipat ng position sa side ng bed. Then habang minamassage niya yung upper leg ko, he suddenly stopped. “Ma’am, okay lang po ba pressure?” I said yes. Then he asked, “Sure po? Parang tense po kasi kayo.” Gusto kong lamunin ako ng massage bed because obviously, hindi yung pressure yung dahilan kung bakit tense ako. 😭

I just laughed and said, “Hindi lang ako sanay sa male therapist.” “First time niyo po?” he asked. I said yes. He smiled. “Ah, kaya pala.” That’s it. Two words. Pero ewan ko bakit parang nag-iba yung atmosphere sa room after that. He continued normally, but suddenly napapansin ko na everything—his voice, his hands, the way he moved around the bed, and yung slight scent niya whenever he leaned closer. Dahil tahimik siya most of the time, every time he spoke, parang mas noticeable. At one point, I opened my eyes slightly habang nasa side siya ng bed, and I remember thinking, “Bakit kailangan pogi pa talaga?” 😭

Then came the stretching part. He asked me to turn over, still properly covered, then started doing assisted stretches—pulling one leg gently, rotating the hips, stretching the arms. Normal naman siguro. Pero there was one stretch where he had to stand near the edge of the bed while holding my wrists to help pull my upper body slightly forward. For maybe three seconds, sobrang lapit ng mukha namin. Napatingin ako sa kanya. Up close, mas noticeable yung features niya—slight stubble sa jaw, neat eyebrows, chinito eyes, and that calm expression na parang wala lang sa kanya yung ginagawa niya. Then he looked at me.

Nobody said anything. Hindi naman romantic. Hindi rin naman sexual. Pero alam niyo yung moment na parang suddenly aware kayong dalawa na lalaki siya at babae ako? That. I immediately looked away. Then he quietly said, “Relax lang po.” Sir, please do not say relax when you are the reason I am not relaxed. 😭 After that, halos ayoko na dumilat. I just kept my eyes closed and told myself, “Girl, massage lang ito. Stop creating a teleserye inside your head.”

Eventually, natapos din. He told me to take my time getting dressed and left the room. Paglabas ko, almost 1 AM na. Tahimik na yung reception area, and the receptionist was somewhere at the back, so siya lang muna yung nasa counter. Seeing him standing normally outside the massage room somehow made him look even more attractive. Slightly messy na yung hair niya from working, relaxed yung posture niya, and one hand was resting on the counter. Inside the room, therapist siya. Outside, parang regular good-looking guy lang na pwede mong makasalubong anywhere.
I gave him the tip directly, and he thanked me. Then habang inaayos ko yung bag ko, he suddenly asked, “Okay naman po first experience niyo with a male therapist?” I laughed. “Sakto lang.” He laughed too. “Sakto lang?” I swear, may slight teasing tone. So sabi ko, “Okay, magaling.” Then he smiled. Not a polite customer-service smile. Yung parang genuinely happy siya sa compliment.

Then he said something na hanggang ngayon iniisip ko pa rin. “Akala ko po kasi kanina magpapalit kayo.” I asked why. “Parang kinakabahan po kayo nung nakita niyo ako.” 😭😭😭 Gusto kong sabihin, “Kuya, have you seen yourself?” Pero syempre hindi ko sinabi. I just laughed and walked toward the door. Then before leaving, I heard him say, “Ingat po.” I looked back. He was still smiling.
And I don’t know why, but the entire walk home felt different. I wasn’t even sure kung may actual flirting bang nangyari or ako lang yung naglagay ng meaning sa completely professional interaction. Nothing inappropriate happened. He never crossed a boundary, and neither did I. Pero may tension talaga. Or at least, I felt one.

And here’s the embarrassing part: pagdating ko sa condo, instead of immediately sleeping, I kept replaying everything—the misunderstanding at the reception, the moment he entered the room, him asking why I was tense, that stupid three-second eye contact during the stretch, and that smile before I left. Then I caught myself thinking, “What if bumalik ako?” 😭 And immediately sinabi ko sa sarili ko, “No. Absolutely not.” Because I know myself. The second time wouldn’t feel accidental anymore, and somehow I think that’s exactly why I’m curious.

Maybe nothing happened that night. Maybe he was simply being professional and friendly. Maybe the entire “tension” existed only inside my imagination. But isn’t that sometimes worse? Because now there’s no ending—just one completely innocent massage and one question I probably shouldn’t be asking myself: If I went back and saw him again, would it still feel innocent?

From what I read here kaso hindi recent,

Antipolo:
- Mas mahaba ang pila sa Antipolo at nauubos agad quota for the day kahit 10am ka pumunta. May pumipila daw as early as 2am/3am.
- May downtime, walang printer, kaya pinapabalik nalang.

Tanay:
- Mabilis process kaso malayo
- Not sure sa pila but mas kaunti raw.
