Overlay glass snuff bottle with green peach motif on a red speckled ground, Qing dynasty (1730–1830), collection of the Hong Kong Museum of Art [1448x1192]
In 2023, the Hong Kong Museum of Art received a generous donation of 490 groups of Chinese snuff bottles from the Mary and George Bloch Collection, presented by Mrs. Alice Sin as a permanent collection. This is the largest and most comprehensive donation of snuff bottles in the history of Hong Kong's museum sector. Featuring exceptional quality and abundance, the exhibition brings together exquisite Chinese craftsmanship and represents a generous gift from the Sins to Hong Kong.
The Mary and George Bloch Collection was established by the late Hong Kong collector George Sin. It stands as one of the most important private Chinese snuff bottle collections internationally, holding a significant global standing.
The Hong Kong Museum of Art is committed to collaborating with local Hong Kong private collectors to jointly chronicle the story of Chinese art collecting in the city, allowing the general public to appreciate the beauty of this Chinese art form.
