Hey y’all!
If you’re new here or looking for info, this is the place to stop and check before you post that question you’re thinking about asking - the answer may already be in our FAQ! There's also some recommendations in there for learning about lore.
I’d recommend also checking the New Player Question or Questionflairs to see if your question has been asked before. You can also type into whatever search engine you use:
[insert your question here] baldursgate3 reddit
Or
[insert your question here] bg3 reddit
That’ll help us prevent the subreddit from being cluttered with the same repeated questions.
If your question hasn't been asked (or asked recently enough) then use either one of the question flairs above and ask away.
BG3Builds and Multiclassing
For the people curious about builds or who want a more dedicated place to discuss them, there's r/BG3Builds. There's a good guide on multiclassing.

Confused about what the different rolls mean or just want to find notable NPCs and loot in a location? Check out the Community Wiki. It's ad free and being worked on by people here in the community :)
Everyone working on this is doing a great job trying to prepare it for launch and beyond.

Character Planner Reminder: There is a Character Planner by GameFractal being worked on here (It's also in the sidebar on desktop or the 'See Community info' link on mobile).
It's a one person project, so updating it with the recent updates, adding what launch will bring, and some other useful features will take time - but it will be updated.
There is a feedback button on that site, please use it if you have any suggestions/constructive feedback. Feedback isveryappreciated!
Started off with Wyll, my dad has never spoken to the guy and suddenly he wants to dance, then Lae’zel propositions him, then Gales hologram pops up in camp inviting him to a chat! The guy barely talks to the companions and just wants to be a Halfling bard in peace. Ive been pissing myself laughing everytime a new romance scene triggers
I was doing the iron throne for the millionth time on my millionth run. I usually don’t collect potions or use support spells at all. Today I decided ‘what the heck? I have a bunch of shit, lemme speed these guys’
Completely and utterly fucks up their AI and pathfinding.i don’t know what happens, but they just turn into grade A idiots. Every single one of the gnomes I sped up, refused to dash, wasted their movement on zigzagging and climbing over random shit. And at the end of it all, REFUSED TO CLIMB THE FUCKING LADDER.
I had to load back and redo the whole of the iron throne cuz I refused to fuck up my perfect record with bugs
Edit: I should clarify, they weren’t just refusing to go up the ladder, they were walking PAST it. All gathering in a little group past the ladder. This wasn’t a case of blocked ladder or no movement
We all know about the lovable little misfits under the leadership of Mol. If Aradin and co get inside the grove, we can see Meli stealing a locket from Barth. Barth then chases him down and here we can intervene. There areany dialogue options to resolve the matter, but I found the monk exclusive dialogue for the first time today.
"Let us find balance. The child will return the locket - and the adult will act his age."
I can't quite get the proper shots I want, because the in-game 'take photo' feature straight-up doesn't work for me, and the UI elements take up too much of the screen.
The hermit means a search for the truth and guidance, reversed it means loneliness and isolation. Though it suited her :p I’ll probs do more so feel free to suggest who should be what
So we know why all other Origin characters happened to be captured - Laezel was with the Gith attacking, Shadowheart stole the artifact, Wyll and Karlach hopped on in Avernus, Astarion was just general population also taken in Baldurs Gate I guess? But Gale - supposedly hasnt left his tower in Waterdeep for a year, how does he just happen to be targeted?
So, something I've been wondering about for a while now, is if the Githyanki are such pricks only because that's the way their culture has developed under Vlaakith, or if they've been on that 'murder other races on-sight' type mindset from the get-go.
If Orpheus' leadership would reform his people to be less hostile to others, I'd free him and turn my character Illithid without regret. But if the only actual change is gonna be in whose name the Githyanki perform their douchebaggery, they can get fucked for all I care.
So for anyone who has completed act one, you must be familiar with the red dragon at the end of act one that flies away. Well, I really wanted to kill it by any means necessary (literally not possible). So I tried to use a polymorph scroll I found at one point, and it had a staggering 12% at succeeding. After many reloads, and killing off the githyanki group that was with the dragon, I did, I polymorphed the dragon.... there was just one small down side, it literally sequence broke my game. I could not attack the dragon, couldn't even examine the dragon. You cannot go through the mountain pass if you polymorph the red dragon at the end. So I say again, DO NOT TRY TO POLYMORPH THE DRAGON.
I've never seen this lol. Its cool, hopefully I'll find more later. Also sorry my video cut so abruptly, I had to use xbox's "record what happened" because I was so shocked
I was just looking for a combination "quill and ink pot" for an old Tav, Quintessa (the tabletop version of her is proficient in calligraphy), and just happened to stumble upon the "Close" option for the mirror, expecting the mirror to close itself back up.
I did not expect an inventory window to appear…
I suppose it could be a weird interaction due to the cosmetic mods used on Quintessa? XÞ
EDIT: It's not the mods, as I tested it in my current, unmodded playthrough, as demonstrated in a response to Productof2020's comment.
So I'm dating Minthara, right? Pretty chuffed about it too, cuz it took me until act 3 to get here. And we are walking around Wyrm's Rock when all of a sudden Gale asks her if the empty bottle of venom he found at camp was hers...
You probably know where this is going...
..she admits it is indeed hers, and that she has BEEN MICRODOSING ME IN MY SLEEP to build up my tolerance to poisons in case we ever travel to Menzoberranzan together.
What the actual fuck, Minthara?! I knew you were cold but honestly, you could've just asked.
No really, of course you can spec your character to tank a lot of damage, but my problem is that the AI simply ignores such targets and instead goes for the most vulnerable ones (which it should I suppose). This is on "Balanced" difficulty, mind you too!
The only time I get the AI to focus my tank is when the other characters are too far away to do anything.
I was having a little bit of trouble with the sharran temple but then i thought of a new strategy that is (VERY) scummy. So, trigger the fight, then run everyone outside the main room into the hallway and cast arcane lock on the door, finally keep spamming aoes on the door as they will pass through into the room where they are crowding up (for more damage per round also have shadowheart run up and down with necrotic spirit guardians).
This will leave the fidelians as they stay out of range so you will need to finish them off but still, kills the vast majority of them.
Do i recommend doing this? Hell no, but if anyone is stuck on this at any point and doesnt mind scummy tactics, here you go.
I am playing the drunk monk for this playthrough in multi-player, me and the crew were fighting auntie Ethel, she fails her save to intoxicating stike and becomes drunk, but the part i liked was that her illusions were worthless now because her real body had the drunk effect bubbles at all time, making her easy to spot! I didnt expect that, but i thought it was pretty cool.
