She wants an adjustable height desk so I really made a desk top.Her favorite color is purple, so I chose to accent the white oak with Purple Heart. Coated in danish oil natural tint. All from rough cut lumber. Going to let the danish oil cure for a few days then coat it in poly a few times attach the base and call it a completed project. Feeling really happy with how this turned out.

Made for my first child while we were waiting for her. I worked on it while my wife was in the hospital. Made out of birch plywood and finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil plus 2C Mist. Push to open drawer slides. I have free OnShape plans if anyone's interested.

A small/montessori coat and shoes rack with a bench, made with left over pieces of laminated fir and a scrap of cherry (probably). The whole piece is 80 cm high.
This is one of my first projects and the first one where I have employed hand tools techniques learned through YouTube videos, mostly from Paul Sellers’ channel.
I started with a dull set of chisels and I sharpened them with sandpaper. Then I cut several mortises in hard and soft wood. The top of the bench has two housing dados cut with chisels and a poor man’s router (it was really a pleasure seeing this in action, I highly suggest fellow beginners to try it out).
The joints are not as precise as they could have been, but I am proud of the result and the recipient of this gift is very happy so… it is a huge success 😁.
I applied wax to the top piece, while the rest is still unfinished. I will probably apply some layers of water based wood stain. The flower is painted with acrylics; maybe I should have coloured it after applying a coat of finishing, but I really do not know. Any thoughts on this?

I've been considering replacing my battery-powered tools as the brand I have is a homebrand and I'm concerned about the quality and particularly the safety of its batteries. For those in Australia, yes, taking about Ozito. While I'm very careful with my batteries, with a small family, I worry careful isn't enough and I don't want to worry about a battery catching fire.

Picked up for free off the side of the curb. Gave it a sand down, fresh paint job, and a nice laser engraved floral design on the glass top.

I'm building Bear Mountain Builds' table saw cart, and the plywood topper for part of the cart is coming in juuuust a bit higher (1/16" - 1/8") than the table saw itself. My understanding is that this is a Bad Thing, since you want the table saw to be higher than the edges/feed tables to make sure you don't snag it.

What's the best way for me to lower the edge here: orbital sander, belt sander, or handheld planer? And any tips for doing it - e.g. should I clamp pieces on either side at the height I want and color them with a pencil so I know when the height is hit?

Made this for my sons’ preschool teacher. It’s a bookshelf you can put on your bookshelf 😁 - tried a few new things on this project.

I didn’t enjoy working with the poplar I used for the box- next time, I will choose something I little harder and better to look at!

What are these lines running across the cookie here? It appears after sanding with 120 and 220 papers.

Largest woodworking project I’ve tackled to date. Built this stand for a 60-gallon cube aquarium, with a large open front to accommodate the sump and make maintenance easier. This was also my first project using a router, so there was definitely a learning curve and a few lessons learned along the way. Overall, I’m really happy with how it’s coming together.

It is finished! I may put a trim around it down the line, but for now it is a functional bookshelf and MTG card organizer. So much happier with the space and actually making it useful :)

I have this small space in my bathroom that I want to make some shelves for TP or towels, maybe cleaning supplies. Do you have any ideas on how I should go about it or what kind of shelves I can make? The corner is at 90 degrees.

I just tried chainsaw milling for the first time, and the log I chose to start on was the branch of a very old and very dead black walnut tree that's been standing dead for about 30 years now. The inside of the branch looks amazing and is rock solid. My cheapo moisture meter shows readings from 8% to 10% at various points.

From the photo above and the moisture readings of 8-10%, is it safe to say this does not need to be cured any further? What would be a good project to use this wood for?

I need your word of expertise: I am heavily into woodworking for the past 2 and a half years, working with solid wood (not weneer or MDF), building furniture and cutting boards with mostly oak, walnut, cherry.

At this point I have enough customers and business to quit my office job and pursue woodworking full time, but I keep having the same problems over and over again: my table tops always fail.

Smaller or larger cracks always appear in the wood table top.

I mostly use white oak, always dry (9-12% humidity), always cut out the center (heart)out, always alternate the grain direction (upward-downward).

Finish either with PU or Rubio Monocoat, but the result is always eventualy the same - cracks appear.

I see some comments about attaching the table top to the base - every table I've done has threaded inserts. The screw hole is always about 4 mm wider than the screw body. Latley, I use oval holes in the metal bases.

Please tell me what am I doing wrong? Is that normal for solid wood table tops? How do you explain it to the customers?

Hello craftspeople. I am building shelves into this awesome piece of wood and need help with the shelving. I would like to take 2 boards and dovetail or dowel (havent decided yet) them together with the posts in the middle. What is the best way to shape the holes I will cut into the boards so there is a tight fit when attatched together around both of these branches? As they are natural, neither are perfect circles nor are straight. I will be attaching 3 shelves; low, mid, top.

I do not have a fancy shop with power tools, so any simple, yet effective methods are preferred. Thanks!
