Was given this board and google said it’s from 1991 it seems solid and non water lodge and overall in good shape! Would it be worth using it Iam on long island ny!

If I have no choice but to leave my board in the car, even in a shaded area, is there anything I can do to prevent it from the heat. Right now all i've been doing is draping a towel over it and making sure to leave it flat in the trunk. Would something like a board bag/sock offer more protection?

So I’ve recently bought an actual good boogie boarder after years of buying odysea or catch surf or whatever was cheap because I was surfing and body surfing more.

Lately I’ve been riding this new board and even in the past I’ve struggled with dropping in and setting my line or when the wave picks up and gets steep quickly while trying to keep trimming down the line my board wants to turn sideways and lose my rail ending up sliding almost sideways and get pummeled by the lip.

What method helps keeping your line high without this happening?

It's always been my dream to have a PP, but I'm worried it will get too stiff in the winter which is just around the corner. Does anyone here find that their PP gets too stiff in the winter? Show of hands.

After 20 something years it is time to retire this guy. I had some good times on this board, but it’s time for a new board. Any recommendations on good a 41 inch board to consider would be greatly appreciated. Now just a casual rider, but maybe with a new board will get me out more. The other set up is my sons.

Hey folks, I’m gonna try to avoid the “what board should I choose” and ask another way…

So I landed my first proper backflip two nights ago at my local (east coast US). It was like 2-3ft faces. Super small, super on shore. I basically landed it onto dry sand but rode away on the skim. Stoked.

My main board is a Science Launch CT (PE—F6 Flex) and I really like it. I also have a No.6 (PP) I got sometime around 2009 before I understood the difference in materials. It’s more of a Vers/DK board and is super stiff, so I tend to use it in the summer on really small shorey days in case I wanna stand-up or boog-skim. Our water here maxes out at 75-76° in August. I’ve noticed that at around 74° and up, my Science (PE) is just way too soft. Like it really just dies lol, which I get. I took the No.6 out and ended up landing it on my “stiff” board. I was shocked, I mean, this board doesn’t even have channels in it.

I’ve been in my head wondering if the stiffness of the No.6 helped me ride away? I’d been working hard all summer for one, and would always fail the landing. I’d usually sink into the whitewash/break. There’s always so many variables at play, who knows? But I’ve been looking into some of these higher-end Science boards (HSVs and Quad Vents) and they only come in PP. I feel like I know that pro boards are PP primarily because pros ride in warmer waters that what I have… but is there more to it?

Questions:
Would it be ridiculous to get a board like those for 2-4ft shore break? At what temperature would you absolutely never use PP? (the coldest I surf is maybe 50-55°) What does a PP board feel like in water that’s too cold? Does stiffness help with riding away from aerial maneuvers? Why does it seem PE boards are always relegated to entry-level and low-tech?

I'm a long-time San Francisco Bay Area bodyboarder and have a handful of boards in my quiver I'd love some help IDing. Two are from the Australian the Australian company Hot Buttered (I'm hoping some Aussie riders can help with these two).

One is my favorite board of all time. I bought it used 15+ years ago at the Pacifica Goodwill store for $20 (pristine condition) and I've been riding it religiously ever since. The markings on the top deck say Vee and trs. On the rail, it says 11-20. On the bottom, it says HB Hot Buttered and has three diamond logos followed by the word core. The other, slightly smaller, lacks the V-tail and channels of the red board and has a more conventional crescent tail design. This one has a blue deck and has t3 on the top deck and 10-09 on the side rail. The bottom skin has the same markings as the red board. The blue deck board was a $40 Facebook marketplace purchase and was apparently purchased in San Diego 15 years ago and only ridden once - which I believe since there's no leash installed and it appears to never have been waxed.

I also have a Cartel board, purchased at the same Pacifica Goodwill around the same time frame as the red HB board. This one has a gray top, white bottom and says Cartel USA on one side of the slick bottom and forty-two.five on the other (I'm assuming the length). Top deck says Cartel Board Company. It also has an Alternative Surf, The Bodyboard Shop Seal Beach sticker on it - which I'm guessing is where it was originally sold. I barely ever ride this one.

The last one is my wife's that she had when I met her. I've never ridden it, but it has a blue top deck with a big X logo on it and Matrix X at bottom. There's no markings on the bottom skin.

Wondering if anyone uses contacts while riding. I've got a eye disorder that means I have to use hard contacts. Just found I can use soft ones and have OK vision but wondering if anyone else does this and has any tips.

I had a manta concept when I was a grom. I got it in 03 but I can’t find a picture of the style I had. it had a bat tail style nose with hand grooves in the nose, 4 silicone I guess you’d call them fins on the slick and a little side fin on the tail.. anyone remember these boards, had one or even a photo?

6 months post op open latarjet surgery but have an irrational fear that the shoulder is going to pop out in anything over 2ft - surfed intermediate at Urbansurf and was still worried and that setting is tiny.
Am I just old and scared? Haha. Or has anyone else had this issue, if so how long until you started to trust your body was healed?

I picked up this second hand NMD Nexus X6 miniquad, when placing it on a flat surface it is concave when viewing the board from the side/rails. I've never owned a quad concave design board so I have nothing to compare it to. All my other boards are flat apart from the slight curve upward at the nose and they are all more conventional parallel channel designs.
