The Pavilion is being run into the ground and it sucks

No big regen projects on the horizon

Surrounded by other gyms

And on top of that more gyms in the Glades with Hollywood Bowl.

So aside from the Pool, the only thing going for it really, what's the point?

Tbf i do go.to gym there but the membership comes from my father who's on a health programme from Mytime via the Hospital

But it seems with the new bowling alley and no slides and some machines locked behind EGym which needs a membership, this place is being purposely run into the ground by the Council and Mytime

Padel for beginners

Is there anywhere in Bromley where someone can play padel for the first time and learn the game? Perhaps providing racquets/bats and balls. Possibly even coaching?

Missing cat

*EDIT* - very sadly we found Reggie’s remains this morning. Thank you so much to everyone who searched for him, we really appreciate it. We are devastated but at least we know what happened.

Hi all, we’ve lost our cat Reggie from Whitebeam Avenue. He’s slipped his collar which had an AirTag in it unfortunately so he was last in the back gardens on this road we think/hope in the wee hours of Monday morning. Please can everyone keep an eye out and check sheds and outbuildings for him? We’re really worried. He is a grey cat with green eyes, a Russian Blue. He is nosy and has been known to occasionally saunter in through peoples back doors so he could be in houses potentially too. Thank you!

Fancy trying sword fighting in Bromley? ⚔️

Hi everyone! I run a small, friendly historical sword fighting club (Hena) here in Bromley.

We practise longsword every Wednesday evening at The Pavilion Leisure Centre, from 7:30–9:00 pm. Beginners are always welcome, and you don’t need to own any equipment, we can provide everything you need for your first session.

It’s good exercise, great fun, and a little more interesting than another evening at the gym. 😄

We’re a relaxed and welcoming group, so if you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to learn historical sword fighting, come along and give it a try!

📍 The Pavilion, Bromley

🗓️ Wednesdays, 7:30–9:00 pm

⚔️ Ages 16+

Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

Carpenter/general Shelf Guy in Bromley area

I’m looking for someone who could possibly build and put up some bespoke book shelves for our living room. These would be wall mounted, so not a bookcase or built-in alcove.
Does anyone know of someone in and around Bromley/SE London areas who might be good for this?

Locksmith in Bromley

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a locksmith in the BR2 area to change locks on a door and fix a faulty lock? Also if anyone has an estimate on how much this would cost that would be great!

Anyone in Bromley/London with an EV but no driveway?

Anyone in Bromley/London with an EV but no driveway?
I’m looking at buying a Tesla but I don’t have a driveway/private off-street parking.
I’ve spoken to Octopus about installing a home charger, and they said I need to check with the council about running the charging cable across the pavement. I’ve now seen that Bromley Council offers a pavement cable gully/channel.
For anyone who has actually done this without a driveway:
What charging solution did you end up using?
Did your council allow a cable protector/ramp, or did you need a pavement gully?
How long did council approval + installation take?
How much did the whole setup cost, including the charger?
Which company installed your charger?
Do you reliably manage to park close enough to your house to use it?
While you were waiting, did you just use public/Superchargers?
Especially interested in experiences from Bromley or other London boroughs.
I’m trying to work out whether I can buy the car now and use public charging while everything is being arranged, or whether sorting the home charging first would be wiser.

Nottingham knockers (BR1/Southborough)

just a PSA to alert people that these folks are doing the rounds.

one of them's just come to our house and my mum answered the door, heard his story about him being ex-military (allegedly), and paid £10 for a packet of microfibre cloths. 5 minutes later, another one came by, but she turned him away.

call me paranoid, but we've had a few of these visitors in recent years, as well as several burglaries on our street. this is apparently a common way for criminals to case a house and identify where might be a good target.

if you know any vulnerable people in the area then maybe give them a heads up.

Marlings Park avenue

Hello!

We are looking to move to our family home and have seen a property we like and that has a lot of potential on Marlings park avenue. We love the property, its proximity to Petts Wood and the style of property on neighbouring streets. It’s equidistant between SMC and Petts Wood railway station, which is ideal for work. The only two red flags we’re potentially concerned about are 1) the lack of nearby amenities. There don’t appear to be shops within close walking distance and 2) it’s on the border of St Mary’s Cray which we aren’t keen on.

The estate agent has said the postcode technically falls within Chislehurst, but keen to get views from locals on what the Marling Park area is like and whether the proximity to St Mary’s Cray has presented any issues.

Thank you!

Safe living near Bromley South?

Looking at properties within walking distance of Bromley South station, e.g on/around the high street, Elmfield Road, etc. Any insight on safety? Does it feel safe walking after dark? I’ve seen conflicting reports from good reviews from residents but high crime reports.

Question Anyone know Glentrammon Road area.is the traffic/noise as bad as it seemed on a quick visit?

Looking at a house on Glentrammon Road (BR6, near Chelsfield/Green Street Green). Visited in person with wife and it felt like there was a fair bit of traffic passing directly in front of the house — cars moving at a decent speed, not really slowing for a residential road.

A few things I'm trying to figure out before making an offer:

  • Does Glentrammon Road get used as a cut-through/rat-run between other roads, or is it mostly local traffic?
  • Is it noticeably busier at certain times (school run, rush hour) vs generally quiet?
  • Does the traffic noise carry into the houses, or is it mostly a pavement-level thing?
  • Anyone actually live on or near this road who can share what it's really like day-to-day?

Trying to weigh it up against another place on a proper cul-de-sac nearby, so any first-hand knowledge of this specific road would be really helpful.

LB Bromley CEO is the second highest paid council CEO in England, yet the council has no money and cries poverty.

Council Leader Colin Smith loves telling everyone how Bromley Council has no money. This is despite the fact that Bromley Council CEO Ade Adetosoye is the second highest paid council CEO in England.

LB Bromley has closed Waldo Road waste tip for "refurbishment", has expensive privately run council leisure services, and always cries poverty.

Plenty of council tax money to splash on council execs who are presiding over this mess though.

Do I have a case against this penalty charge notice, box junction outside police station

Hello,

I have been sent a pcn for stopping in the box junction outside the police station.

The reason I had to stop as you can see in the pictures is due to the useless lady in the white mg crossing the lanes incorrectly and therefor blocking my path. I have sent an appeal to Bromley council. What are the chances they support what I’m saying. (I know they love money 💰…)

Chinese-Speaking Friends? 会说中文的朋友?

Is there anyone in Bromley who can speak chinese that would like to be friends? I've recently just graduated from university with a degree in Chinese, and will be moving to China in about 6 months so would really like to make some friends who I can practice my Chinese with! I'm 22 years old and I'm big into climbing, learning languages (recently started learning Spanish as well!), literature, hiking, and gaming (computer and board games!).

Cleaning services - Bromley, Beckenham and surroundings

Hi everyone! I've recently moved to the Bromley area and wanted to introduce myself as I'm looking to take on a few new cleaning clients locally (Bromley, Beckenham and surrounding areas).

I've been providing professional cleaning services for over 15 years, with most of my existing clients being based in SW London. Now that I've moved further out, the journey is unfortunately a little too far for some of my regular clients, so I'm hoping to meet new people closer to home.

If you're looking for a cleaner, or know someone locally who might be please feel free to comment below or send me a message. Thanks! 😊
