So I was terminated today from a job of a few years. “Without cause” there have been a few things leading up to this.

1.I’ve been refusing to pass out of province inspections with safety issues which I was pressured on repeatedly. Same for certified pre owned cars. Finding out management has just been editing the forms and signing for the technicians after the fact.

1. I had an injury at work and was told not to submit a WCB claim. (That’s illegal) so I did anyways) when I came back from the week off they had already hired another person and we definitely didn’t have the work to justify hiring them.

2. Had a leak happen on a “best friend” of my boss at. I accidentally pinched the seal on the oil filter housing which doesn’t immediately show up as a leak and has been known to happen to other also experienced technicians.

It seemed at that point that he was going to manufacture a reason to terminate me. Which like I kinda get but also mistakes like that do happen in this environment.

Two weeks later I’m fired for no reason. This to me sure sounds like retaliation and like it was planned from the point of my injury at least.

May I have a case?

I live in an apartment complex and a resident who is on the board of directors for the building has put cameras in our courtyard, parking lot and front of units. While I was able to get the courtyard camera removed because I argued it’s a private space that’s fenced off that people have a reasonable expectation of privacy the others remain.

While I don’t mind video recording in the front and parking lot of our building there’s extremely clear audio recording that picks up low level talking. It makes me uncomfortable that only one resident has access to this footage of all other residents and visitors, and there’s zero signage that there’s audio or video recording. I raised my concerns and informed the resident who has the cameras and is on our board that I believe the audio recording is illegal because while the audio is being recorded outdoors you cannot record everybody’s private conversations they might be having outdoors. In addition to this there’s no notification anywhere there’s audio recording in that area.

I was hoping to confirm this is illegal?

I’m a remote VA from the Philippines working with a small business in Ottawa, Canada. I’m currently dealing with a dispute over an unpaid commission, and I would really appreciate some outside opinions.

I was responsible for outreach and helping secure events for the business. We had an agreed commission arrangement.

I was also told that the normal commission was $25 per event, but if an event generated approximately $1,000 or more in sales, the commission would increase to $50 for that event.

The Capital Fair was booked and completed, and the client told me afterward that it generated approximately $2,000 in sales.

There was later an issue involving the event proceeds and his staff. Because of that, the client is now saying the business was not financially successful and that my commission was contingent on the business making a profit.

I pointed out that the loss of proceeds was outside my control and separate from the fact that the event generated sales.

My question is: If the written/message terms say the commission is earned when the event is booked, completed, and sales are made, does the client have a reasonable basis to later say that the commission was actually contingent on the business making a profit?

I’m not trying to attack the business or expose anyone. I just want an objective opinion on how this type of commission agreement would normally be interpreted and what I should do next to recover the remaining $125.

Canada life did a miscalculation on my cpp disability and overpaid almost $10000. They informed me of the overpayment 2 months after benefits had already ceased.
I refused to pay them their miscalculation and they have since sent that amount to commercial credit recovery. It has been almost 3 years since they informed me of the overpayment and I feel the time for them to have collected from me has passed.
Am I correct in assuming it’s on them now and the matter dies, or should I mabe anticipate them or commercial credit filing a sue?

I'm located in Newfoundland. When i leased this place, the rent was 1050. Since i've lived here he has occasionally lowered the rent if i paid earlier (drop it to 800 if paid on 21st). This has progressed into a spiral and now my rent is paid to the end of next year. The numbers kept getting lower, and it was an offer I couldn't refuse. He permanently dropped the rent to 700, and despite the periodic messages, i've only paid about 4k for 18 months rent. I have all the messages hwere he confirms this is the case. It has enabled me to save for a house of my own.

I'm worried that it has gotten to the point where, if it is possible, a "bad faith" argument might stand. A couple days ago i sent him 80$ for a months rent. Its gone on so long i usually send him between 3-400 a month. I've accepted this is my new rent, but i do tell him i cannot pay if it goes over our stated new rent of 700. I think this may be an addictions issue, but i'm not sure. he is rotational worker, but i wonderful person. no noise form upsairs or any nuissances. I've searched my provinces legislation but nothing seems to apply to this sort of senario. Is this bad on my part? Even if i suggest that we go back to the stated rent i have saved thousands, I'm just worried if it is an addictions problem that he could argue he was not in the sound mind to make those calls and ask for back pay. Last week I “bought” a vehicle from a well known dealership. I have never taken possession of the vehicle. I signed the bill of sale with the total amount due on day of pick up highlighted at the bottom. Yesterday, the sales manager called me everything is ready to go and looking forward for the cheque but the number he is asking is more than what was agreed and signed. I feel they’re trying to be shady, it could be the ownership registration fee, but I no longer want to do business with this dealer due to the different numbers owed. Can I still back out from this? I had placed a small amount of deposit for it. They claim to be a dealer who does not hold deposits and would return the same day after requested. Is there something I could do? What would be the best approach?

My estranged uncle recently died in Alberta. He had no known will, no known executor, and apparently no one else in the family is willing or able to administer his estate. I was contacted by the RCMP because they needed someone to identify him after they attended his apartment, and I ended up being involved in making arrangements for his remains. I was not close to my uncle — I had seen him only a couple of times in roughly 15 years — and I never intended to take responsibility for his estate.
The complication is that I have personally paid for his cremation because I didn’t want his remains to go unclaimed while I tried to figure out what to do. I was hoping the cost could ultimately be covered through an Alberta funeral benefit, CPP death benefit, or reimbursed from the estate if there are sufficient assets. The funeral home is now involved in the payment process, and I may have signed a payment agreement. I have also asked for the funeral director’s statement of death, but I was told they won’t provide it until payment is made.
I’m now trying to formally renounce/decline administering the estate without accidentally taking on legal responsibility for everything else. Does personally arranging and paying for the cremation mean I have taken on responsibility for administering the estate? Can I still formally renounce being the administrator as his nephew? If nobody in the family agrees to administer the estate, what happens to his apartment, belongings, vehicle, bank account, debts, etc.? Would the Public Trustee or someone else eventually become responsible for dealing with the estate?
Most importantly, how can I recover the money I personally paid for his cremation without becoming the administrator of his estate? Is there an Alberta or federal funeral benefit that I can apply for personally, or would reimbursement have to come from the estate? If the estate has no executor or administrator, who actually deals with a claim for funeral expenses?

Hypothetically, if a person has an incident at one Real Canadian Superstore location and loss prevention tells them to come with them because police are being called, but the person leaves before being given paperwork, and they are **not told that they are banned from other locations or from all company properties**:
Does Alberta law automatically prohibit that person from entering a completely different Superstore location?
Is there a legal difference between an internal company-wide restriction and a trespass notice?
If the company internally shares the person’s photo or information with another location, does that by itself make entering the other location trespassing?
Would the person normally need to be notified that they are prohibited from the other property?
Does this work differently when the other business is a different banner, such as T&T, No Frills, or Shoppers Drug Mart, even though they have the same parent company?
If someone has never been to a particular store and has never been told they are prohibited from entering it, what would determine whether entering that store constitutes trespassing?

The BC Court of Appeal just ruled that the Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) retains jurisdiction to hear claims for standardized compensation under the Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR). The Court found the lower court judge erred in ruling the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA), the federal regulator that normally handles airline complaints, had exclusive jurisdiction, and that nothing in the legislative scheme was meant to oust the CRT’s authority to hear these claims.

This win came from an appeal brought by Air Passenger Rights, the advocacy group founded by Gábor Lukács. Back in 2025, the BC Supreme Court had ruled that APPR claims for flight delays, cancellations, and denied boarding had to go through the CTA exclusively, cutting the CRT out entirely. If that had stood, passengers would have lost a faster, more accessible avenue for holding airlines accountable and been forced through the CTA’s process, which is already badly backlogged. The CRT route also lets passengers bundle a compensation claim with other contractual claims like out-of-pocket expenses, something the CTA doesn’t offer.

Genuinely great news. A good reminder that one bad decision doesn’t mean the fight is over, there’s real power in advocacy and people not backing down.

Hey, I was wondering which lawyers in Canada specialize in cases where someone is implanted with histrelin without them being informed or being able to consent. Also In order to hide the mental distress of being chemically castrated for 10 years, other drugs are used to elevate the emotional state of the test subject, again without consent or informing them. Pretty much its like having complete control over someone, using drugs and chemical castration to present them as a person who is ready to perform for the camera against their will. Also, a time period of 10 years has passed, is there any law firm specifically I can reach out to?

I’m looking for advice from people in Alberta/Calgary who may have experience with retail loss prevention or trespass law. I’m not looking for advice on how to avoid getting caught or anything like that. I’m trying to understand what could happen legally and what I should do differently going forward.
I have been struggling financially for a while, and unfortunately I developed a habit of taking things from a grocery store without paying. I recognize that this was wrong, and I have made the decision that this behavior has to stop completely. I am not asking anyone to excuse it.
Recently, I was at a grocery store that is part of a large grocery corporation. A loss-prevention/security employee stopped me as I was leaving and told me that he had seen me take merchandise and put it into my bag. He also said he believed I had taken merchandise worth approximately $5,000 over time.
I gave him the merchandise I had with me. He then told me to come with him because he was going to call the police. I panicked and ran away. I did not receive a written trespass notice, and he did not tell me that I was banned from that store or from all stores belonging to the parent company.
I am now home and I am taking this seriously. I will not return to that particular store, and I am completely stopping the stealing behavior.
What I am trying to understand is:
Can the store still report the previous alleged thefts to police after I left?
Does returning the merchandise affect anything legally?
Does running away after security told me to come with them create any additional legal issue?
If I was never told that I was banned or given a trespass notice, does that mean there is no trespass ban?
The corporation owns several separately branded grocery chains. Can a trespass notice from one location automatically apply to other separately branded stores?
Can loss-prevention/security information or photographs from one store be shared with other stores or sister companies?
If I later go to a different store owned by the same parent company and shop normally—paying for everything—could I be trespassing if nobody has told me that I am banned from that location?
If police contact me later, what should I do?
