My door has so many scratch marks. Help😭

My 19 year-old cat has a tumour… and I don’t know if I’m making the wrong decision

My cat is 19. She’s beautiful, sweet, and still somehow full of personality. Despite the tumour growing in her mouth she’s social and still eating normally.

Recently we discovered a tumour in her mouth that has been growing quickly (photo attached) and has started bleeding from time to time. The vet told us it’s cancer and prescribed antibiotics and pain relief to help keep her comfortable. They said she’s likely masking a lot of the pain, which makes this even harder, because most of the time she still seems so normal. The vet says she may have 1 month left (it’s hard to predict).

Here’s where it gets really hard, we’re leaving the country tomorrow for 3 months (not optional, important personal reasons), and the original plan was for her to stay with someone she knows and trusts very well. But now we’re questioning everything.

Do we euthanise her before we go, so she doesn’t reach a point where she’s suffering badly without us there?

Or do we let her stay with someone she’s not as close with, even if that means she might decline while we’re gone?

We were prepared to say goodbye today, a vet is supposed to come over in a couple of hours. But when she’s sitting there acting like herself, eating, being social, it feels almost impossible to justify.

I feel like I’m choosing between:

- risking her suffering later without me there

- or ending her life while she still seems “okay”

Has anyone been through something like this? How do you even make this call?

Hi all, as the title suggests. My neighbors cat always sleep in my car like this.

Am an animal lover, but i also a car person. Those claws could make deep scratches on my bonnet.

The problem is, the car port cannot be seen from the house. If it foes i could just train him not to do it. But this is a random thing.

Is there a scent or something that i could put on the car to deter the cat?

Serious question, appreciate any suggestions.

Guys, the cats owner has been found!

They reached out to us after seeing a post my girlfriend put out on Facebook, came and picked her up around 30 minutes ago. They lived like 4 houses down from us in the same apartment building.

I wanted to post an update with new videos of the fatty but this subreddit won’t let me.

That was like the cutest cat I’ve ever seen in my life. Going to miss her big time.

There is a cat that I play with from time to time that comes around the neighborhood that looks really similar to this cat. I opened the door and saw this cat and thought it was the cat that I know, but turns out it’s some random pregnant cat.

It decided to come into my house and hide under my dresser and now I have no idea what to do to get her out.

I put food out in front of the dresser but she won’t move. I’d leave the room but I really don’t want her to get on my bed or anything seeing as she’s a stray cat.

Idk what to do.

(Edit #2: I don’t know if I should try to take care of this cat or if I should contact a rescue and have them handle the situation. Some people are saying that they will kill the babies, some people are saying I need to take care of them, and some people are saying I need to give them to the rescue immediately. I still don’t know what to do. That cat is still just hiding under my dresser.)

Okay now that title sounds terrible, right? But hear me out.....

I live near a handful of apartment complexes thats right off a fairly busy street, like you open my door and the road is right there. It's also a low income housing area so people are constantly moving in and out. A few months ago before winter started, a new cat started coming around. He was clearly a young kitten and newly adopted. We have a water bowl on our porch for the critters who come by, and he'd always come over and go straight for the water. He'd come over frequently throughout the winter when it was below 20°f and snowing just trembling on our porch looking inside. I made him a heat box with a low temp heating pad, insulated foam, and straw. I asked on a local page to try and find an owner as he just keeps coming back and our three cats go crazy seeing him! The owners reached out to say he is an outdoor only cat and basically told me to mind my business.

This cat comes by every day and drinks water like he has never been given any before, for a solid 10 minutes before he lays down and always goes back for the water before he leaves. He is so small. He loves being loved on and pet but you can feel all of his ribs. He has long fur that is filthy and matted, especially between his toes. He's also unneutered, and I can only assume unvaccinated from that too. He sprays everything that possibly smells like our cats which isn't his fault but still. He'll also just walk into our house when the door is open like it's his own until he gets chased out by one of our cats.

I'm thinking of keeping this cat or finding someone who can take him in. I've offered to pay for his neuter but the owners said no. Would it be wrong of me to catnap him? To me, a cat with no collar and unneutered on the street is a stray.... and he clearly isn't getting his needs met at home. But I feel guilty knowing he is technically "owned."

A stray black cat has recently started hanging out in my old garage.

It's rarely used, so it's mostly quiet, but it's dusty and has a couple of parked bikes and motorcycles. The cat seems comfortable there and sometimes just sits or sleeps inside.

I'm wondering if it's actually a safe place for a stray cat, or if I should try to encourage her to stay somewhere else. There aren't any obvious chemicals or traps in the garage, but it is bit 𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝.

Would you leave her alone, or is there anything I should do to make the space safer for the cat?

Anytime my sister tries to do a puzzle in my room, my cat basically refuses to let her do it 🤣 she’s my first cat, so I don’t know too much about cat body language or anything. Is my cat playing and simply wants attention or is she tormenting my sister lol

I just washed and refilled his bowl. He is 3 years old has never did this until this year. I wake up to puddles everyday 🥲

Edit: he's not really a fountain guy, doesn't drink from them very much and it gave him urinary issues that resolved from switching back to regular bowls.

Really sweet cat started appearing on our deck out of no where, meowing extremely loudly and scratching at our screen door. It would be on our new neighbors’ deck at first (they moved in a few days ago), but they were hitting the railing with a broom to scare it away. :(

We gave it some cat food bc we keep some for the strays around our neighborhood and it immediately stopped meowing and has been returning to our deck ever since.

It is rlly friendly, it rubs against everyone’s legs and marks its scent all over our deck furniture. In the first pic you can see a strip of the bandage was hanging loose when we first saw it, and it kept scratching at the loose piece like it was bothering it, so we trimmed off the dangling part.

The bandage makes us think someone may have been caring for it recently, but we don’t know where it came from or how it ended up here. We are planning to take it to a vet today to have the bandage and injury checked and to see whether it has a microchip. We also do not know its sex because the fur under its tail is too thick to tell safely.

Has anyone seen a bandage like this before, or have any idea what might have happened? It is such a sweetie pie, and we want to make sure it is safe and not missing from its home

Update: I just got home, he’s not here but he’ll come back. Went to talk to vet ER people they said be careful handling him so I need to get a crate. Also called local shelter and they can check him out for free so probably will bring him there when he comes back! Sorry I am new to this 😫

Edit: Only realized this today but the momma has been increasingly friendly. Maybe wanting something? I have farm scratch, idk if there is something they can’t have. They apparently will not eat chicken feed fyi. Do I feed it meat or do I need to do a milk bottle?

My baby Pavement (yes… his brothers are named Asphalt and Concrete (coming soon) 😭) is OBSESSED with the countertop.

I’ve tried everything: foil, double-sided tape, little puffs of air, covering the sink, moving stuff around… nothing works.

The second I turn around, he’s back up there like he pays rent….. and he’s not…. At this point I’m wondering if I should just accept that he likes being up there.

I have 2 female cats at home - 5 and 3 years old. I work part time and I'm about to become a university student at the end of September. So my time will be focused on uni, tasks for uni, and work in around one month. The kitten is maybe around 2 months old, starting to show male parts but not fully shows yet. Very cute, very tired. It's living in the city center, near fast food places, in a city park.

i clean it twice a week is that good enough i have one cat and he sucks at covering up his poop

this is angie, she’s 17, last time we took her to the vet they said she’s the healthiest old cat they’d ever seen. but recently she’s started only really eating kitten food. is that bad?

They seem to know they're not supposed to - this was literally us catching them red-handed.

I’ve never heard of this before and neither has my vet, so I thought I’d try in this forum (although r/roastmycat was tempting). My rescue cat (2.5yo F) is super socially awkward and odd (one vet said she is evidence of neurodivergence in cats), but she has really taken a liking to my boyfriend who moved in late last year. When we’re getting ready for bed, she gets super excited to see him and does all these weird moves that are best described as breakdancing, and she purrs like crazy. She also, on several occasions, has randomly squeezed out a tiny, dry, rabbit-poop-sized smelly pellet during all of her spins and rolls and flops on the bed. She never did or does this for me- just my boyfriend!

Obviously I love that she’s so happy, but we could do without her smelly poop pellets on the bed. Anyone have a cat who does this? Did they grow out of it?
She’s otherwise healthy (aside from slightly anxious/hyperactive) and eats expensive wet & dry food.

UPDATE GUYS!!!: Sorry for the late update, everyone. I’ve been really busy, and it took a little while to get everything sorted out. We took the cat to a local vet to be scanned for a microchip and it did have one so we scanned it and then tried contacting the owner At first, the owner wasn’t answering when we tried to reach them, so we left a voicemail and my phone number. A few hours later, they got back to us.
It turned out the cat belonged to an older couple who live in one of the apartment complexes not far from where I found it. We arranged to meet, and they were incredibly relieved and happy to have their cat back😭 they even tried to offer me some money but i told them it’s ok. Also I’m not going to lie I was a little sad that I couldn’t keep the cat because I’d already gotten attached to it, and it felt like it was starting to warm up to me too. But seeing it reunited with its family made me happy 😊. I’m really glad it’s back where it belongs. Thanks again to everyone who suggested getting the cat checked for a microchip and for all the advice.

EDIT 2: To everyone accusing me of stealing this cat, please stop making assumptions. I found this cat outside and I’m trying to do the right thing. I can’t reply to every single comment, but I’ve seen a lot of accusations based on things people don’t actually know. If this cat has an owner, I genuinely want to help get it back home. Until then, I’m doing my best to keep it safe and cared for. Please don’t jump to conclusions without knowing the full situation. Once I have an update I will update everyone.

EDIT 1: GUYS CHILL I’m not gonna steal anyone’s damn cat !!😭 I’m actively trying to find its owner. I already took it back to the apartment complex where I found it and I asked a bunch of people around the complex, but so far nobody recognizes it. I’m doing my best. My next step is taking it to a vet to check for a microchip.

This morning when I got into my car and was about to leave, I started hearing loud meow noises. I didn’t realize the sound was actually coming from inside my car!! I ended up driving a short distance before realizing it had to be in the car, so I immediately pulled over. After a little while, the kitten came out on its own. thank God it didn’t get hurt or fall out while driving!!😭😭 The kitten was really scared at first but after some time it started to calm down. I gave it some food and water. It looks like a very young kitten, and I honestly have no idea where it came from. I’ve never seen a mom cat with it, and there aren’t usually kittens around here, all of the neighborhood cats have been sprayed and neutered. I took the kitten back to the area where it seems like it might have come from and let it out, but it’s still roaming around and I can’t find the mom anywhere. Right now it’s safe but clearly confused and alone. It has been following me. I included more pics and video in the comments

I need to get this out because I genuinely cannot find this information anywhere online, and I wish someone had told me sooner.
My cat Lily is 8 years old, otherwise completely healthy, and about two years ago she suddenly developed what appeared to be severe allergies: constant scratching, open wounds, bleeding skin.
She was so miserable we had to keep her in a cone for nearly two years straight just to stop her from tearing herself apart.
We saw three vets. Including a dermatologist. Every single one suspected food allergies. So we spent two years separating her from our other cat, feeding her prescription hydrolyzed protein food, cycling through elimination diets, and even had her on steroids for some relief. None of it fixed anything. She just kept suffering.
Three months ago she suddenly started coughing on top of everything else. This worried me so much and something in my brain clicked on, and I switched her litter from Tidy Cats Lightweight to Dr. Elsey’s Respiratory Relief clumping litter. Her allergies were gone in under a week. Her wounds have fully healed within a month.
Two years of my little girl suffering. And literally thousands of dollars in vet bills, medication and prescription diets. And it was the litter the entire time.
We have used Tidy Cats Lightweight exclusively since both our cats were kittens. I don’t know if they quietly reformulated it at some point, but something in that product wrecked my cat’s respiratory and skin health for two solid years and not one vet or Google search pointed me toward it, especially cause our other kitty was completely unaffected.
If your cat has unexplained allergies, skin issues, or a chronic cough, please also consider your litter.

New baby we just adopted. Last few days our big boy (~2) has been a bit wary of the kitten but they started playing yesterday, a lot of chasing. Today it seems he’s boldened up and has started playing really aggressively like this. I know cat play can look like a fight but I just worry when it’s such a kitten that our boy might accidentally hurt him.

edit: wow lots of responses. ofc i stopped the damn video to separate them when the yowling got loud at the end there, but i have a hard time telling as oftentimes normal cat play can look quite rough. the size difference is what concerned me. as far as i can tell they are still getting on just fine after some separation and some solo exercise for the big guy. just wanted to sanity check that intervening was the right thing to do at this point. thanks for all the responses!
