Her meow is so crispy and it stole my heart. How I walked away I'll never know

Just wanted to share the bestest little man in the entire world! I got him when I was 16 so I’m so so lucky to have him in his sweet 16 too!!!

Hey guys, I just got a cat yesterday and it’s my first time owning a pet in general. When i brought it in my house yesterday, dude was a lil scared I think cuz of the environment and went under my couch a couple of times. So I moved him to my laundry room, just to get him in one small room so he wouldn’t escape or freak out.

This morning I checked in on him and he’s doing better and cuddling with me.

Just wanna say I’ll appreciate any advice as a first time cat owner

Unfortunately.. my line of work tends to bring around cats through all manner of delivery. Whether it’s assholes letting their cats be thrown in the garbage.. or the unfortunate fact that garbage generates heat and smell’s that cats seem to love. Either way. Not the dream lol

Round-about 5:45 this morning I was preparing my semi for the day’s work. I walked into our shop’s office looking for a shop vac to run a quick detail when I saw a small shadow dart into the shelf unit at the back end of the room. I turned on the light, closed the door and slowly walked towards it. I’d remembered from god-knows where that slowly blinking at a cat will help them trust you? I don’t know if that’s actually true - but it sure seemed to work! Hahaha I sat there and we blinked at each other back and forth. She was scared but I slowly moved my hand towards her until we had a little soft meowing match between us. She let me pick her up, and I carefully got her into my semi and up to our scalehouse. Thankfully.. the All-thing-animal whisperer was working today, so I left her in the caring hands of our weighmaster while I went and hauled my semis.

Any tips and/or advice would be huge. I’ve never owned a cat that was properly a kitten.. or a cat for that matter lol I’ve got a dog who she doesn’t seem to like, but he’s a gentle feller with a massive heart and a curious snoot. I gave her a tiny bit of EXTREMELY wetted down tuna fish stuff and she gobbled it down. I’ll be setting a vet appointment up soon. As for now, she is FAST asleep on my shoulder.

I got her sleeping in an old bigass dog crate with a few of my shirts, her food/water on one side and her litter box on the other. 🥰 she is the sweetest little thing. Yesterday.. I sobbed myself to sleep due to my severe depression and having semi-recently gone through a second divorce. It’s so so nice to read all these comments. I really am truly thankful for each and every one of you 🖤

Went to pump gas after clocking off work three days ago and heard a bunch of meows coming from a bush. After walking towards it, a few kitties jumped out and booked it to another bush. This one got left behind and continued to meow like crazy after I picked her up. Took her home and was contemplating on taking her to the local shelter or keeping her. However, I’m still on the fence about it because I’m not really home much and she would probably get lonely if I keep her home alone. Before making any decision though, I at least wanted to give her a name for the time being and was thinking maybe Kate or Negra. Idk im bad with names but suggestions are welcomed and any other advice. TIA

Background information: Cat is well over a year old and his eyes appeared to be way too big for his head and extremely far apart. Is this a characteristic of a certain breed he may be mixed with or is he… just built different. His name is Jax

I had my boy groomed today, they had to shave him because the fur on his stomach and legs had become heavily matted.

I just noticed a few hours after coming home that his whiskers had been shaved off too. (I added a photo of him pre-shaved as reference to how long his fur and whiskers were). Is he going to be okay?

If you recall Peep and “He bit my roommate so I’m posting his ugliest pics” about a year ago. Well roommate is now bf (good) and Peep still has a biting problem (bad) when he’s not getting what he wants (9 times out of 10, my bf’s attention - he is obsessed to an unhealthy degree and I think would deliberately cause me to fall out of a 3rd story window if it meant more time alone with him)

Also he’s been spoiled horribly. He has to be pet while he eats and screams for my bf to carry him to his bowl.

He keeps intentionally flinging litter. Ive tried it all: changing the brand, different box (pictured), cleaning punctually (i thought at first maybe i wasnt cleaning fast enough for him). He especially loves to after i clean out the box. My vet thinks this is just how he likes to spend his time.

Please suggest coping mechanisms to soothe my anxiety when i hear him kicking litter. Im so serious.

My partner and I are considering adopting this lovely guy from our local animal shelter. We both immediately fell in love with him. He’s around 4 years old and recently had one of his front legs amputated after he was found injured. His wrist was dislocated after apparently falling from a balcony or window, and unfortunately no owner was ever found.

According to the shelter, he’s an incredibly affectionate, social and talkative cat. He loves being petted, loves food, is litter trained, is good with other cats and can live with children. Despite everything he’s been through, apparently he behaves as if having three legs is no big deal.
The only thing is that his amputation is quite recent. He’s spent most of his recovery in a kennel, so even the shelter doesn’t really know yet how he’ll adapt to moving around a normal home, jumping on furniture etc.

We live in an 80 m² (860 sq ft) apartment (second floor) with a 40 m² (430 sq ft) rooftop terrace. We intend to keep our cat indoors, and wouldn’t give him unsupervised access to the terrace unless we can make it completely cat safe.

There are two of us, both 28. Between our work schedules, someone is home most of the time. I work from home twice or three times a week on the days my wife is working at the office and vice versa so there always should be someone at home. Occasionally he’d be alone but that would be the exception rather than the norm. This would be our first cat together, although I grew up with cats and did cat sitting for a few years with also medication treatment when needed. We’re specifically looking for an adult cat rather than a kitten and would love a social, affectionate companion who enjoys hanging out with us.

We’re absolutely open to adopting a cat with a disability and making adjustments to our home if necessary. My main concern is whether adopting a recently amputated tripod as our first cat is something we’re underestimating. I’ve read that cats can adapt remarkably well to three legs, but obviously I want to make sure we can give him the home he needs before committing.

We’re planning to meet him at the shelter before making any decisions. I’m currently writing down some questions and things we want to discuss with the shelter and we’ll definitely take your experiences and advice into account as well. We just want to go into this with realistic expectations and make sure we can give him the home he deserves.

Was nervous at first. Like the “don’t get in to a strangers car even if they have candy or puppies” situation, but it truly just turned out to be a man in need of help and he somehow stumbled into the perfect girl for the job. Third cat to find me in an odd, but beautiful way. Bathed, fed, snuggled, safe and headed to the vet tomorrow.

I truly wish there was more to the story and interaction. A lot of you are asking. There wasn’t much. He asked me to please take his cat multiple times after being in the gas station mart, i assume asking people in there. Maybe he was headed out when he spotted me because he pulled up to the pump next to me. I was in a bit of shock at the situation and didn’t speak much (uncharacteristic of myself). I didn’t know the box has writing on it until I got home which made my heart hurt even more, he was desperate it seems. Feeling lucky he found me!

I love the idea of going back to the gas station and putting up a note and pictures! Thank you to the multiple commenters for that.

As for the hate on the car. That’s my car and I love it. 2009, 20k miles and basically a 30k dollar coupon to spoil Babby and my other babies with. 🤣 (another edit: I drive so much for work I find low miles cars in California and have them shipped, great money saver btw. This one is “new” to me. Probably was hiding in someone’s garage for years. I have no one to impress! Lol)

My cat does this several times a day. If the automatic feeder lifts at the correct angle, a few niblets of dry food comes out. He will even do it 10 times in a row even if it means one small piece of dry niblet comes out. It does get quite annoying as the sound of the feeder hitting the ground echoes throughout the entire house.

Any ideas on how to get him to stop?

This Elsa. She is 6 years old, a bit shy around people, but very cuddly when she warms up. Three weeks ago, we moved to a new apartment. The plan was to take her to the new apartment before the movers came, but came the morning of, and she was nowhere to be found. I tried looking for her, but then the movers were there, and we just had to get going. I continued looking for through the day, but nothing. I was at the old apartment two days in a row afterwards to clean out, with no signs of her anywhere. Eventually, I just came to the conclusion she must have gotten out while the movers were coming in and out. I went looking for her in the woods by the old apartment, sent pictures of her to all my friends, made Facebook posts, and whatnot.

She had not. Three days ago, I got a message from my old renter asking if I was missing a cat. Apparently, the new owners had found her while doing renovations. She was hiding under the kitchen bench. I'm still not sure how she got there. Guys, I was there all alone for two days in a row, and she never made a sound.

Anyways, she was still alive. Luckily, she had access to water in the toilet and was a bit overweight, so she had a bit to get on. But 3 freaking weeks. Without food. I took her to the vet, she spent one night there for observations. They did bloodtests, and yes, she was dehydrated and some other stuff, but overall, she was still in pretty good shape. The vet told me she was expecting a half dead cat when I called to make the appointment. I told her that she was a bit fat before all this, and you know what the vet said? She still is. She is still overweight after 3 weeks without eating.

She is home now, it's a new place and she had been through a horrendous ordeal so I was expecting her to hide for a while before feeling at home at the new place. And hid she did, she found a small opening by the kitchen kabinets and hid, and I swear to god I almost started crying. But she did not stay hidden when I woke up this morning, she was sleeping by my feet as she usually does. She is laying by my side right now and getting all the cuddles I I got a huge vet bill from the whole ordeal, but it doesn't matter because I'm so happy to have my girl back again, safe and sound. So next time somebody calls her fat, I'll just tell them that that saved her life, so let her be her cute chunky self.

Edit: this post exploded so I feel obligated to clarify some points of my post: • she was hiding under a cupboard, not visible without removing a piece of wood, which is how she was found when the new owners removed it when renovating. English is not my first or even second language so I did not know the right word to describe it. • the new owners did not move in as they are renovating the apartment first, so there was no food or anyone there, except for a few hours a day when renovating. • she is going on a diet plan made by the vet after she has fully recovered. I'm also going to have her checked for thyroid as some have mentioned in the comments. She has always been big, almost twice the size of her siblings since a kitten. I do not overfeed her, she usually gets one small portions of food a day. She is not fond of exercise though. I do not think an obese cat is wither cute or healthy, I want her to live a long and happy life. I was obviously not succeeding in getting her weight down, but i promise I'll be more diligent this time and follow the vets advice. • I did have a plan of taking her to the new apartment before the movers came, got up two hours before they got there and had everything ready to go but she had already gone in to hiding by then. I know better now, thanks to a lot of helpful advice from a lot of you guys, and I will plan and execute it much better next time if I ever move again. I did not abandon her, I genuinely thought she had gotten out and was desperately looking for her in the weeks she was missing. If I had even an inkling of suspicion she was still there, I would have looked harder and informed the new owners. There are a lot of things I could have done better in this situation, and trust me, I'm beating myself every day about. I feel horrible that she had to go through that. • and last but not least, I do think she found at least some insects and/or rodents to feed on. I understand now that my title is misleading, but I can't do anything about it now. I do not think this was a good way for her to lose weight and I wish none of this had never happened.

She is doing good now. She is in the new apartment and has been exploring the new place. She is getting a lot of cuddles but no treats, at least not yet. I appreciate all the good wishes and have been laughing and crying reading your comments. There are lots of similar stories, so I hope this post at least helps in some way from keeping this from happening to someone else. I know I'm not perfect and that I did not do everything right, but i do love her very much, and these three weeks have been hell, not knowing where she was or how she was doing. We are very happy to have her home and hope to cherish many years with her still. I'm probably forgetting something but I'm tired now so this will have to do. Quick backstory, after losing the love of my life, Penny Lane, last November at eighteen, I wasn't sure when I would be ready to adopt again. I always knew I wanted black cats and when my friend rescued some cats from a hoarding situation, including two black cats, I had to meet them. My friend also had their mom, and well, here is my new son Ripley, sister Wendy (the tongue), and their mom, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom (tabby). My friend Danielle (Cat Party Pet Portraits) offered to do a shoot combining my love of dinosaurs with my love of my new kitties, and this photo makes me so delighted and happy with how it came out.
