Just got this malthe a couple days ago and I got to see some drastically different colors for the first time (2nd pic) and 3-4 are bonus Goop pics

Found a veiled cham in the front yard of a suburb in Southern California and decided to keep it. Have lots of experience with reptiles but none with chameleons. I already set up a 2x2x4 screen enclosure with plants and it ate a couple dubia roaches but I was wondering about feeding it. It is relatively skinny and I have no idea how long it has been on its own for. How much should I feed him ? Any help is appreciated!

I’m here to update about this because i just logged on to see there were so many views and apparently a lot of hate which is valid i never really clarified what happened. My dad got me Igor (chameleon) from some dude off FB marketplace😭😭 It turned out dude had like so many animals in his house including chickens. I just thought it was weird and I thought maybe Igor was mistreated so that’s why he looked like that. We got him a 4-5 foot inclosure, many chameleon safe plants, enough hiding space, a humidifier, the timer for the lights and humidifier, etc. What is pictured in the og picture was when we first brought him home, so it does make it seem i had this shit ass setup for him and luckily there were no other reptiles in the house to contaminate. We took him to 2 vets the first gave us antibiotics knowing he was going to pass away:( The second gave us the unfortunate news and we decided to put him down of course. Igor lived a wonderful 5 days at my house and hopefully the medicine the first vet gave him made him feel a bit better before he passed. I do apologize for not giving an update it was honestly a very sad moment for me and i just forgot about the post😭

If there’s any that have multiple timers tht I can set like an alarm to activate or turn off would be amazing to get some help!

He’s a friendly, ~1-year-old panther chameleon and would stay in his full enclosure/cage with everything he needs. I’m mainly looking for someone who is comfortable with chameleon care, including feeding, misting, and keeping an eye on his temperature/lighting.
I’m located around Brampton/Mississauga, but I’m willing to travel a reasonable distance for the right person.

Hey I’m trying to figure out when to move my panther chameleon to his big boy enclosure. He’s 4 months old now and he’s mostly stable but I don’t want to put him in a big cage until he’s ready so he doesn’t fall. Sometimes he misteps and falls now but he catches himself on the abundance of vines and branches I have in there. What do you think? I’m mostly leaning on waiting. He’s doing well and he’s so small. We got this guy at the DFW Reptarium, really cannot find any info on these guys other than they’re similar to Jackson’s in care and are related to parsons chameleons. If anyone has any info on them I’d love to know more (he’s about 8 months)

Hey! So, my chameleon is a nine month old female named Ivy! I’ve noticed that she has been sitting under her basking light worth her mouth open and colors more vibrant after I cleaned her little home for the first time (she was a gift!). It’s been a week, I’ve adjusted her home, but she is still doing it. Her basking light is 60 watts and her home is a 16” by 16” by 24”, and she can reach her water (though I never see her drinking it), and I just tried to mist the home today to see if she’s overheated. But do y’all have any advice? I thought about lowering her bulb to a 50 (and we keep our house around 72°) or trying to find a way to bring the bulb off of her home, and I did look into getting a 24” by 24” by 48”, though it is a bit expensive (I’d do it for her though!). I also have an Austrian-Terrier, so maybe the dog is stressing her? They are in separate rooms though, and the lady that gifted me her had two toddlers and three dogs- not sure if that matters. And she may be stressed because of the new layout, but that’s also been a week. I don’t handle her every day either!
Basically, any suggestions are appreciated! And thanks to those who read <3

EDIT: Alright, thanks for the replies! :D I did find a larger enclosure that we put on a 4 time paying system to keep it manageable, I’ll be heading to our local stores to get some things for a laying bin. We did use a thermometer yesterday night, but it was a meat thermometer because we apparently don’t have any other type, so- we are going to get one of those too -.-“ But again, thank y’all!

Hi there. About a week ago, a veiled chameleon joined our family. For the first three days, he ate without any issues and was a beautiful green color and active. On the fourth day, he only ate one small cricket, and now he hasn't eaten anything for three days. He is active as usual, but he has started climbing the terrarium mesh, where he also sleeps. His color is mostly dark, so he is likely stressed.

Regarding the setup: 120x60x60 terrarium, T5 12% UVB light, and a 75W basking light. The temperature at the basking spot is around 30–35°C.

The lights are on for 12 hours a day. I keep a dripper running during the day. In the evening, I mist the terrarium for one minute at a time: the first misting is three hours after the lights go out, the last is about 15 minutes after they turn on, with one session in between.

He is currently shedding his skin, but what worries me most is his dark color and the fact that he doesn't hide among the plants (perhaps there aren't enough of them?). I assume his refusal to eat is likely due to high stress. Do you have any advice on what I could improve?

I want to get a chameleon but google says they are very much look dont touch pets, is this true or will a pet chameleon enjoy sitting on me etc.? and does anyone have any experiences or pros and cons of owning a chameleon to share? thank you for the help

I just got a new enclosure for my chameleon, which is a juvenile at the current moment, but is about to outsize their current enclosure. Do you think this is big enough banana for scale.

So I just found this distinguished gentleman(I think) running across a busy road and pulled over to save him(quite against his will).

I have posted in my local Facebook groups to see if he is a missing pet or a feral invasive(I live in Florida). If he is not someone's beloved pet my teenager and myself would like to keep him.

What are the most pressing needs to keep him healthy while waiting for him to be claimed or kept? I don't want to make full on investments if we have to return him in a day or two, but also don't want him to get unhealthy.

I currently have him for tonight in an 18x18x24 exoterra with some repti-soil and coco fiber on the bottom, with some live oak sticks, and containers with water(I also sprayed the whole enclosure down) and some mealworms my bougie tarantulas wouldn't eat. The room is set at 78° and wasn't in the direct sun.

We have a trip to the local reptile specialty store tomorrow morning for them to help us look him over and buy food and essentials.

We have a box of chameleon eggs, one hatched just fine and is now sepersted from this box into a new one. The issue is when this one hatched I think I remember the soil we used being lightly damp almost dry and this was 2 and a half to 3 hours ago. Now there is 1 I saw slightly through a tiny hole which hatched but is still buried (I uncovered it a bit) but the soil felt very wet almost soaked now. What do I do? These are my dads he's on a flight back from Vegas right now and I have no one to turn to with experience!! AI said he might be in shock of exhaustion to leave as is and check later and if no response to move the eggs I have NO IDEA what im doing AT ALL.

First pic: when I noticed ovulation might be happening (end of July). Her crown changed from pink to purple, and turquoise and yellow showed up whereas I’d never seen those colors on her before. She was also super restless and started digging test holes in her lay bin about a week and a half later.

Second pic: when I believe she was in the late egg-holding stage (roughly a week ago). She was a dark greenish black all the time and staying close to her heat lamp when during ovulation having her basking area above 80° caused her to gape. Her tummy is obviously quite heavy.

Last two pics: today, when I think she has laid her eggs in the last 24-48 hours. She generally looks thinner and her colors seem less dramatic, but in the picture where she has black spots and looks pudgy was right after I fed her and approached her enclosure after leaving her alone for a while.

Google is certain that she is post-gravid after me uploading these pictures throughout the past month, but this is my first female chameleon and the signs look very subtle to me. I can’t even really tell that there’s been a difference in her lay bin other than that I know she’s been digging in it because I saw her do it. I will try to sift through it for eggs tonight or tomorrow but don’t want to stress her if she has more laying to do.

my parents have a panther chameleon that they got within the past month from a breeder that was downsizing significantly. they got his enclosure and everything with him and he has been doing great! they have a mist king that goes off for 5 minutes 30 minutes before the lights turn on and after they turn off. they also have a reptifogger that goes off for a few hours around 4 am. they are doing exactly what the breeder was doing but the enclosure is flooding! they don’t have a substrate tray or substrate, but the breeder didn’t either and didn’t have this issue so idk😭 i have other reptiles but i don’t know the most about chameleons, my mom knows a lot more as it’s her pet but she’s not reddit-savvy lol. we are also wondering if we should also spray during the day because sometimes he looks a little dehydrated to us and we never see him drinking, which i know is normal. my mom made a diy dripper with just a cup but he did not care at all lol. he is eating normally and his temps and humidity is perfect! we just need to stop the flooding! thank you in advance!

overwhelmed. what are my next steps ? i don’t think i want to do substrate so what am i doing for drainage ?
