Closing Accounts because Chase Security Protocols are INSANE. Can't use my own money.

First, let me say that I have no issue with financial institutions being buttoned up when it comes to sending money from accounts based on online requests. Way better safe than sorry.

That said, I believe Chase has a real issue with their internal systems. I initiated a wire today from my personal checking account--a sizable, but not astronomical amount (i.e. <$80K). A couple hours later I got a message telling me the wire was cancelled for fraud concerns. Gave me a number, which I called and spent 30 minutes clearing multiple security verifications, answering about a dozen questions before being told the wire would clear if I wait thirty minutes and send again. Waited about an hour, went to log into my account to find that Chase had locked my account. Another call, another 20 minutes or so. But, access cleared I logged back in and initiated the wires again. About 30 minutes later, another message saying the wire had been cancelled--same exact wire I had spent 30 minutes getting cleared earlier. Another call into Chase and after about 20 more minutes on the line I was told that in order to send the wire I would need to go to a Chase branch with two forms of identification and that they could send the wire. I told them that I would go to Chase tomorrow, but not to send a wire, but to close our accounts.

I had sent another wire TO MYSELF which they also cancelled. I get the need for security and am all for it. But if you have a system and someone demonstrates they are who they say they are, they should be able to transact. If the system is "go do the branch", just say that before someone spends an hour or two trying to do a very basic thing.

During my time on that last 20 minute call, I logged into my Fidelity account and sent the wire. It was gone from Fidelity by the time Chase could tell me they wouldn't send it. So my new banking arrangement is Fidelity and my nice little local bank. I'll transfer those Sapphire Reserve points and never look back.

Chase Business Complete Checking Bonus, deposit "cannot be existing deposits at Chase or affiliates"?

Upvotes

So I recently signed up for the Chase Business Checking complete account in order to get one of the advertised bonuses. I thought I have read the terms fairly thoroughly, but I guess I missed this one part that says:

Deposit the minimum amount shown below in new money (cannot be existing deposits at Chase or affiliates)

Does this mean I can't use funds from any existing Chase account in order to qualify for the bonus?

This is a bit of a pain, but I have 30 days to get that minimum deposit done, so I have time to move my funds to another bank before sending them to my new CBCC account.

Absurd True Story about Chase and My Credit Card Account

Upvotes

What I am about to tell you is 100% true. I couldn't make this up if tried.

I am going through divorce. My ex-wife and I have had a Chase Preferred Card since 1999 that we have used for our primary method of spending. We put everything on that card and paid it off every month for 27 years. But, since we are going through divorce, I agreed that she could continue to use the card and I would simply get my own card. This is where the insanity begins...

On July 5th, 2026, I logged into the Chase account and had offers for a Sapphire card that showed 175K of Bonus Points (I have good income and excellent credit). I applied for the card and expected to be instantly approved. I heard nothing. After a few days, I called Chase to find out the issue and they said, "oh, you will receive a letter in the mail". Uh, what? I'm being denied? After bouncing around from agent to agent, someone finally told me I was being denied because I didn't "have enough credit history". Excuse me? I have 27 years of credit history with CHASE, not to mention auto loans, home loans, etc. Something was amiss. Chase said call the credit bureaus.

So, I downloaded all of my credit reports and found that the Chase Preferred card info was nowhere to be found. It had disappeared from my credit history. I called the credit agencies and they said, "call Chase". Ugh, so back to Chase I went. After speaking with 4 different people, I finally got to someone who said, "hmm, yeah, we did stop reporting your credit for some reason. give us 30 days to fix it." Oh, great. In the meantime, I was planning to use my "new" card to book a trip as well as make a few other expensive purchases, including lawyers fees for this freaking divorce. But, no such luck with Chase. So, I applied for three other credit cards and was DENIED for all of them. Same reason. Not enough credit history.

I logged into my Chase account about nine days later and found that my first name HAD BEEN CHANGED. It wasn't changed to, like, my middle name or anything. It was changed to a mixture of letters that do not resemble a name in any way. I called Chase immediately and, the first person I spoke to said, "you can fill out a name change form and send it in". I said, WHAT? YOU changed my name. YOU didn't INFORM ME that you changed it and now you want me to go through some sort of byzantine maze of corporate bureaucracy to fix it? They transferred me. Three more times.

Finally, I spoke with someone who said, "it looks like someone here changed your name when they were looking into the credit history issue". She assured me she would look into it within the next 7 days.

I filed an official complaint with the CFPB and emailed their executive office with the same complaint. By law, they had 15 days to respond to the CFPB. On day 15 they responded and said, "we're looking into it" which grants them another 60 days before they have to respond.

At the very least I hoped they could change my name quickly. But, it took them over 3 weeks and countless conversations and emails to fix that. Shortly thereafter, they started reporting my credit history again. But, the random name they gave me still shows as an AKA in my new credit report. Yay.

Since everything was supposedly fixed, I re-applied for the same credit card and was DENIED. No explanation. Then I was told to apply again. So I did. DENIED. And, each time I applied, I had three different people calling me to verify that it was me who was applying. It was borderline harassment getting three calls a day from Chase from different people asking, "did you apply for this card?".

Today, I spoke with my designated case manager and she conferenced me in with their credit department. After two minutes, he approved me for the Sapphire card and said it would be sent out in 5-7 days. Great. I asked how many bonus points I'd be getting and he said "75K". I said, well, when I applied, you were offering 175K. They said, no, we have no record of ever offering more than 75K this year. They told me if I could find proof, send it to them.

In five minutes of googling, I found exactly what I was talking about. Certain Chase customers this year had been offered 125K to 175K through the "just for you' link on your account. That is what I applied for. I took screen shots and sent it to them. I also found something FROM THEIR OWN WEBSITE that referenced 100K bonus points that was being offered to the general public this summer. They weren't even aware of THAT. This is another perfect example of their awful customer service. They required ME to prove something that THEY were offering.

I have a call scheduled with a lawyer tomorrow to determine what legal recourse I have. The fact that someone INTERNALLY broke the law and changed my name is a serious offense and, honestly, having that name in my credit history could potentially be problem in the future.

TL;DR--Chase denied me a credit card in July because they had stopped reporting my 27 years of excellent credit history with them to the credit bureaus, then changed my first name for no reason, then claimed that they were never offering 175K bonus points when I applied in July.

Chase Freedom Unlimited CLI

Upvotes

I got the CFU in April of this year. My limit is unfortunately $500 :/. Has anyone had success with getting a CLI? My statement closes on the 15th and my payments are due on the 12th. Should I pay the whole balance before or after the statement close date? Thanks!

For the $900 bonus how long or how much needs to be direct deposited into the total checking?

Pretty much the title. Plan on transferring the 15k straight to the savings at around day 27. I see that I can keep $1500 in the checking to dodge the fee.

Does a United Gateway card (Chase) work the same way a “normal/basic” credit card would?

I’m sorry if this sounds dumb but for context, I’m living outside the US (Asia) but my father lives in the US for work. Before he left, he said he made me an authorized user and gave me my own United Gateway card.

I’m not well-versed with how cards work tbh. I only have one debit from a local bank and I rarely use it. Not sure how far advanced the US is with banking that’s why I’m asking if it would work the same way… like you know, can it be just swiped and tapped for payments or maybe used for online payments? Or is it exclusively a travel and flight card?

The reason I’m asking is that my dad once used his own card when he came home and it didn’t work here so he ended up using a local card. We’re not really sure why.

Thanks in advance!

Resoulution to missing Paze credits

I have missing Paze credits ($90) from Sephora purchases made over 2 months ago that Chase did not code correctly. Told to wait 2 billing cycles which I did. I know many others here are in same situation. Has Chase done anything to resolve your issues?

Repayment Of Licensing

I’ve been at Chase as a PBII for about a month, and I’ve already been moved around between locations because of other employees resigning. I’m considering leaving for a wealth firm nextdoor, but I know Chase has a licensing/training repayment obligation if you leave early.

I already had my SIE before joining Chase. Since starting, Chase paid for me to take the Series 6, which I passed, and my Series 63 is scheduled soon.

My questions are:

  1. If I leave before taking the Series 63 and just let the exam appointment expire/cancel, would I still owe Chase anything for the Series 63?

  2. Would I only owe them for the Series 6 that I actually took and how much?

  3. For anyone who has left Chase early after being sponsored for licensing, roughly how much did you actually have to repay?

Trying to figure out whether it makes sense to take the S63 or leave before adding another potential repayment obligation.

15% cash back on sleep number promotion disappeared.

I had a promotion for %15 cash back up to $250 on sleep number on my chase ink card. The promotion stated that it would last until September 15, I took screenshots of the promotion with it being active and attached to my card. I bought a sleep number bed a few days ago with the promotion active and available. Now, when I go to my promotions, the promotion is not there, doesn't show up in redeemed, doesn't show up in on going, doesn't show up anywhere on my card. I have screen shots though to prove it was there and attached to my card. Would customer service be able to help me sort this out, because I definitely want to get my money from the promotion. It's part of the reason I got a new bed to begin with.

Is there any way to close a checking account without calling?

Hi everyone! I’m no longer in the US and would like to close my checking account because they keep charging me a service fee. As I’m abroad, making this call is quite costly, I know some banks that offer video call services but chase does not seem to have that option. Do you know of any other way?

What is the point of Paze?

I got an email today saying my cards are auto-enrolled in Paze, which from digging up, is a app supported by banks that is going to try to be sort of like Google Pay or Apple Pay, but instead pull all your credit cards up when you enter your email at a storefront.

Why?

Google Pay and Apple Pay are far more secure - they use randomized card numbers with anonymity to onlookers. Paze would require you to enter your email address for online merchants, and I presume eventually the goal is to make it common place in coffee shops, retail, and everywhere.

First impression would be if someone knows my email, they could just enter my email in, try to charge me, and then I'd get at best an annoying "enter 123456" to confirm message. At worse if I clicked ok, someone could easily charge other people's cards like this.

Help: Freedom Unlimited or Flex?

Hello! I have been pre-approved for both cards listed above. I currently have the Freedom Rise as my first CC. It’s been roughly a year since I’ve had it and I’ve been considering adding a new card to lead me to the Chase Trifecta… however I’m not sure which card would be better to go with.

I tend to spend most on shopping, groceries, and gas. The FU seems to be the same as the rise with the 1.5% and the Flex has rotating categories at 5% but I feel like I won’t be as attentive to activate the categories.

Which would help me out more?

Dont use this bank. Your money is not protected with them. They give you the run around until you have no where else to go and leave you helpless without recovering your stolen money. After speaking to over 10 reps from here, I have never gotten an issue resolved. Their lack of care is demoralizing

DO NOT USE THIS BANK. I have been frauded 3 times with there cards and have gone through over 3 days of trying to dispute claims and get my money back for them to deny every claim. This has caused me to lose out on over $400. They have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with and leave you

checkings account duplicate ACH debits

My transaction history is showing the same ACH debit on two different posting dates, but only one of the entries affects my running balance

That's the case with both my BofA and Capital One credit cards that I pay off with my Chase checkings account

See this https://imgur.com/a/roUUp9y

Any ideas why this might be happening?

Real-time payments on Chase personal?

Looking to open a Chase personal checking account and leaning towards Secure Checking. The bank I use now supports real-time payments in and out via RTP and FedNow.

I saw some posts about this from a bit ago but wanted to gather fresh feedback and because I can’t really find much online - do chase personal accounts, notably secure checking, support real time payments for deposits and for transferring to a linked external account? (My external account supports RTPs - Mercury Personal)

Benefits of Chase versus other banks?

I (28F) currently bank with Huntington.
Me and my fiancé(30M) are looking to combine bank accounts and I’m wondering if there is a known benefit of making the switch to Chase considering we’re looking to buy a house within the next couple of years.
I’m interested in the smallest of conveniences like app being user friendly, fraud procedures and long-term benefits of being a client.
We are on a credit repair/debt payoff journey and we’re almost finished (woohoo!) so if the app has a good budget feature, that would be nice!

Wealth Management at Chase?

I’m about to finish my medical training and was wondering if anyone had any advice for the Wealth Management offers at Chase and if it’s a good service for people with high salaries? I’ve had my Chase checking account for over a decade and would hate to miss out on any benefits. Of note, I do have a KeyBank account for medical professionals so I’ll look into that if that’s better.

CFF taking longer to receive PAZE $10 credits?

Been using Chase Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and Freedom Flex for the $10 promos.

None of my three PAZE purchases with CFF have received the $10 credit, but other ones with CFU and the original Freedom with a later transaction dates got the $10 credit.

Anyone else have the same issue?

Chase Bank Business credit cards

Hey guys, looking for some advice and information.

I just recently applied for the Chase Business Ink Cash. I was denied because I am not allowed to hold more than “one no annual business card and one annual fee business cards.”

That’s weird because I currently have 3 business ink unlimited with Chase all for separate businesses and one business preferred card which currently breaks that rule.

I also know a close friend that currently holds the Chase ink unlimited and Chase ink cash simultaneously and has recently received both cards again. Which breaks that rule again.

Would it be better if I close 2 business cards (one unlimited and one preferred) on one business?

Does anyone have any advice or a connect to get ahold of this card?

Thank you!

Mistake in international ach

Getting mixed answers, thought I’d ask.

I mistakenly forgot ONE digit in an account number trying to send to an overseas chase bank from Korea.

I called the Korean bank and they said thought the international transfer can’t be cancelled, but most likely since the name and account number won’t be the same it’ll be rejected so nothing to do but wait.

Some people seem to say name doesn’t matter some do, what’s the likelihood of it getting rejected. Thanks.

PAZE: Using same number for two Dunkin accounts

I maxed out my Dunkin account with gift cards (Paze promo obviously). When I try creating a new account I’m asked for a phone number. Can I reuse the phone number that is associated to my current account without having issues accessing both accounts in the future?
