Why are so many people, obviously intelligently not up to, listening to any classical music, are drawn to it?(This might be off-putting, but apparently sad, but true). Just to bluster enough, to annoy this sub or to give them love-to-hate-pleasure?

it is entirely a coincidence that Salieri ended up in this poll mere minutes after the previous post to this subreddit. in fact, the almighty Random Number Generator had picked Salieri before the previous post was posted, as indicated by the timestamp in the screenshot (see comments). i think this is telling us something very important about this poll

Imagine thinking you like classical music without understanding the stylistic shift in Liszt’s later years in the context of his life events and documented change in intellectual perspective, and recognizing the experimentation with proto-atonality as foreshadowing of the next generation of composers, while not having an opinion both about Liszt’s shameless virtuosity into quasi-liturgical music and whether the tonal language he created is still resonant and novel after we’ve all heard Schoenberg or Stockhausen? I mean you must be a joke to your family, your mommy must be ashamed of you and you’re probably going to a nursing home!
