How this prick managed to get the top spot of the US government on the back of fuckin nothing but hot air and paedophilia will never cease to amaze me.
Because the USA isn’t a democracy. It’s a corporate oligarchy disguised as a republic and trump simply offered the best deal to the actual people in charge. Simply; he bought his way there.
The general public are bought and paid for. You could get them to vote in favour of being kicked in the balls every morning for the rest of their life via media manipulation. They dumbed down and propogandized the population a long time ago, they're now too stupid to be held responsible for their own choices.
Of course it is. A benevolent dictatorship would be the best form of government, but humans being what we are, we can't have that. People are stupid, petty, vengeful, angry creatures, and half of them (or more) vote with their emotions, not their intelligence. It's almost to the point where I hope AI takes over the world, because it would at least run things with the most efficiency.
I'd like to try again a government that's run by scientists and experts and a constitution following humanitarian principles.
But they need to be in charge of every country.
The cool thing about science, and especially the data that comes from it, is that you can use it to form valuable opinions on things like "what's good and what's evil" by establishing non-religious definitions of those words, and then looking at what policies and societal forms conform most to "good".
For example, the current data on societal happiness, health, purchasing power, etc, favors governments that have strong social safety nets and own their own natural resources, rather than selling them off to private companies (both of which are left leaning but largely free-market other than a few things the government owns).
Some people think that a truly communist world would be best, but we don't have data to support that. Some think that a libertarian world would be best, but we don't have data to support that, either.
There's a reason that most economic models in Europe at least favor the social safety nets part. It's because it's statistically the best way to reduce poverty and crime, which means you have a more productive society.
Efficiency isn’t necessarily good. Nazis were quite efficient at genocide, right?
Why would you expect AI to be benevolent?
Also AI is built according to billionaire’s vision, so…
For sure, but we also shouldn't diminish the bad-faith "reporters" and news orgs who have been setting the stage for this. The choice is the individual's to make, but they've been stirred into a culture of fear and anger—making the choice to support someone as vile as Trump easily justifiable in their minds.
Yeah some people are ignoring 2015 Trump, when the corporations realized they could make a lot of money through him because people are so terrible.
Like yes to the whole oligarchy thing but them and the Republican party didn't want Trump back in the day. He's a useful puppet to them. And it's concerning just how many people are entertained by the twisted puppet
He didn't win because of the elites, at least his first primary. He won because numb nuts thought he told it like it is. He was the avatar of right wing media, what every talk show host hinted at our implied made flesh.
That's too nice and neat of a narrative to be true. It means no one is really responsible and theres nothing we can do. I think the simplest is that this is a democracy and the majority of usa citizens wanted exactly this.
I wonder how long it will take for people to accept the truth about this so-called "Democracy". 2 parties, all controlled by wealth domestic and foreign. Nothing they do, or decide, is done by votes anymore. It's decided by a few people, who through a Supreme Court ownership, ensure it happens someway sooner or later, despite everyone's attempts to be lawful or democratic- those people are just ignored and bulldozed over. Right before our eyes, in broad daylight.
Everyone idles by, waiting for an election. They mutter in jest" Ohhh... the voters are mad at me. I'm so scared. OHHH THE VOTERS. Uh oh, the voters are coming to get me. Don't let the voters come after me. Oh no the voters are coming after me. OH they're so big and strong... Ohhh.. protect me from the voters." while everyone smugly smiles, "Yeah we are! Just you wait"
Perfect. Keep doing that. You're selling time, and they're buying it.
He promised to hurt the people the GOP base wanted to have hurt. That coupled with the party's willingness to toe the party line over any other consideration and a wide field of candidates splitting the vote early in the 2016 Primary, it wound up with him leading the pack and everyone else quietly falling into line, even those he'd directly insulted.
I’m not amazed. The GP can’t read, and is full of selfish assholes. I don’t go a day where someone doesn’t almost hit me with their car when I cross the street or a driveway.
I have to go out with a rock and hold it above my head, so people know they’ll get a rock through their windshield. Amazingly, it seems people would rather run someone over than get a rock thrown at their car.
It’s not like he got there by himself, he was propped up by a system of people who were convinced he best suited their needs for taking control and further breaking a system they didn’t like
