Windy beaches around Porto-Vecchio
Hi everyone,
I’ve been in Corsica for three days now and we’re really enjoying it so far — it’s a beautiful island! However, one thing we’ve noticed is just how windy it seems to be everywhere.
We’re staying in Porto-Vecchio and so far pretty much every beach we’ve visited has been quite windy. It usually seems to get much stronger in the afternoon, to the point where it can become a bit annoying.
For example, at Palombaggia it got so windy that we couldn’t even keep our beach umbrella open anymore, and we’ve had similar experiences at other beaches nearby.
So I was wondering: Is it normally this windy around Porto-Vecchio and in southern Corsica in general? Is this something that happens all year round, or is it more typical for this time of year (late August / early September)? Or are we just unlucky with the weather at the moment?
Also, are there any beaches or sheltered coves around Porto-Vecchio that are usually less affected by the wind, especially in the afternoon?
Would really appreciate any recommendations or local knowledge. Thanks!
