Simon Roth, who originally ported VVVVVV from Flash to C++, recently announced his new game Maia. It utilizes a custom engine which is amazingly beautiful as showcased in a few screenshots available on his page. You can visit the main Maia page here, and preorder here!

You can see the "A Nation of Wind" trailer here, and the creator's tumblr here. It's a mix of RTS, "arena shooter", and colony creation and expansion. You collect resources to build up your colonies while saving them from enemies that spawn. It'll be exciting to see where this project goes!
