Welp, I missed my chance to present my rewrite idea of Scarlet Witch vs Zatanna (like an idiot), so in the replies to this qrt I'll present a bunch of rewrite bulletpoints.

Set-up

Wanda and Zatanna are after a certain special artifact the one possesses and is not willing to give and the other one is not willing to return without.

OR

This is a magic-based fighting tournament where, depending on how the ending gets handled, death is perfectly allowed in the rules in this setting full of necromancers.

Choreography

-The main bulk of the action is Zatanna casting creations and illusions and Wanda dismantling them with probability hexes.

-The summoning part either has only Zatanna do the summoning with Wanda attempting to figure out a way to dismantle the Superman construct, maybe also using a clone as a distraction, or they both summon more B/C-tier characters to assist them (specifically Wanda summons clones of the West Coast Avengers and Zatanna of Justice League Dark).

-Wanda is the more scrappy underdog who keeps Zatanna to give her even more of what she's got, whereas Zatanna keeps manipulating the environment and trying to restrict Wanda with a cheeky smile on her face, until the climax where she goes full-on serious mode.

-We do get a scene of Wanda using probability manipulation to make one or two of Zatanna's stage-magic-inspired tricks miss her and/or Zatanna using her stage magician skills to escape from a tight seemingly inescapable grip.

-We do get either a hand-by-hand or melee weapon segment between the two, showing their multiple skills outside of just magic spells, Wanda more of a kickboxer/sword and shield yielder and Zatanna more of a gymnast/dual sword yielder.

-Zatanna grows large and takes the fight to outer space far away from Earth and creates a Z-shaped constellation which she fires towards Wanda, with a part of this scene making a reference to the original Fantasia film, as Wanda transforms in her Darkhold form and tries maneuvre around this. The scene could end with Wanda constructing a ginormous construct of a suit of armor to combat giant form Zatanna in a brief scuffle.

-At some point, they try to figure out each other's weaknesses or power sources, with Wanda trying to shut Zatanna up and Zatanna trying to restrain Wanda's hands in a Link-vs-Cloud-2-like scene.

We could make Zatanna try to stab Wanda with razor shapr cards and have the Blake cameo with exactly the same way.

Death

Wanda wins: After dodging and countering a barrage of attacks, Wanda says her "good ol' right hook" line before managing to suckerpunch Zatanna with all the last bit of her power. Both end up chuckling as Zatanna slowly disintegrates and after Wanda falls on her back, out-of-breath but still chuckling.

Zatanna wins: Zatanna uses a probability hex of her own to mess with Wanda's magic-consisting body. This ends up disrupting the Darkhold page inside and a bunch of demons start escaping her body, something that relates to the major worries both characters had in their source materials. Zatanna after a moment of shock and then concentration goes demon slayer turbo mode and slashes and disintegrates all the demons ending with her impaling a Cthon-possessed Wanda. Wanda reverts to her normal form as she dies and then appears in front of an exhausted Zatanna as a ghost, reference to ghost Agatha, thanking Zatanna for fixing this mess and both being a little embarrassed it got to this, but relieved it's over.

(Either ending could make a reference to Agatha, Constantine or someone else reviving the loser in a cheeky manner.)

Analysis

Zatanna's rundown is mostly the same, just center it less around how awesome and peak Zatara himself is because we are supposed to be focusing on his daughter, it's mostly Wanda's rundown where the fixes are needed; mention Agatha and Wanda's training, mention Wanda's thoughts on her childhood trauma and on why she joined the Avengers, mention a summary of her relationship with Vision, mention Billy and Tommy, mention 2021 Darkhold and Trial of Magneto as the ends to her arc, mention probability hex feats instead of just mocking the superpower, mention ANYTHING about her and frame her rundown not as a monster barely contained that everyone must be wary of, but as an underdog who keeps going forward despite all the shit and BAD LUCK (you could center her rundown around that theme, just saying) that happened to her and try to have some more cobsistent parallels between hers and Zatanna's rundowns.

Conclusion

Considering that if we are going to acknowledge Wanda's full story, then her snapping is no longer a viable losecon, so the conclusion will center a lot on these ideas:

-4th Wall breaking vs Chaos Wave.

-Their interractions with each other's magics in the Marvel and DC crossovers.

-Their magic specialities/niches/tactics and how they counter each other.

-Experience on all their fields.

And may the better sorceress win based on all that.
