Looking to see if anyone else has dealt with stubborn and indecisive parents.
Been with my fiancé for over 5 years now, got engaged a couple years back. In the midst of planning the wedding reception for early next year (I am the groom), we have come across quite a bit of pushback on the basics of the reception from my parents. It’s been quite tough to get an estimated guest count from them so we went ahead and looked at possible venues. Found a venue that hit all the boxes, paid a deposit, and then I get told by my mother that the guest capacity will not be enough.
The frustrating part is that my mother is not really going out and helping us with any of this planning. Even financially a lot of the cost burden has been on myself and I am unsure as to how long I want to keep this going when I have no idea what my parents are wanting with this event. At the end of the day has anyone dealt with parents that aren’t helpful and seem like they don’t care about the wedding, but still want to have a major input into how the events go ? How does one deal with this.

I bought this lehenga for my engagement. The original blouse is different, this is just a random blouse i tried it on with. Also I got the can can removed but contemplating on adding it back again. Do you think this outfit would be better suited for sangeet?

I am looking for such sarees or suits to buy in Delhi, online mostly these are available for the cost of 10k plus, however I’m not sure if the price is reasonable, just wanted to know if I can find such sarees in Delhi for reasonable price (i.e. <5k)

Hi everyone!
My brother is getting married this December, and I want to put together a proper wedding emergency kit for the wedding functions.
I’m trying to prepare myself already for all the unexpected little mishaps that could happen during the wedding functions, whether it's related to outfits, footwear, makeup, hair, skincare, health, or anything else.
I would love recommendations from people, especially if you've experienced any disasters and wished you had something on hand 😂
What are some absolute must-haves that I should include in the emergency kit?
Please share even the most random or unusual items that might come in handy. I’d rather be overprepared than regret not having something when a disaster happens! 😭😂
Thank you! ❤️

How is my wedding lehenga.
Please look at both pictures
This lehenga cost me 23.5k
My budget was really less. I loved the blouse. But not really sure of the lehenga skirt and dupatta.
I wish I got a rented one. It would have cost me the same
Should I try exchanging it?
I am gonna cry 😭
Also please help me out with the wedding jewellery. What. The type of necklace I should wear, any recommendations?

Some relatives of ours are getting their daughter married soon, and I’m trying to find out if there are any legitimate organizations in Pakistan that could help them with some of the expenses.
Her father currently earns through a vegetable cart. The family was doing reasonably well around 10 years ago, but their financial situation changed quite a lot over the years and things are difficult now. The daughter also works, but her income isn’t enough to manage the wedding expenses.
They’re based in Islamabad.
I’m specifically looking for NGOs, nonprofit organizations, Zakat programs, interest-free assistance, marriage grants, or any other genuine support schemes they could apply for.
Not looking for an extravagant wedding or anything like that — just trying to find legitimate support that could make things a little easier for the family.
If anyone knows organizations that actually help with cases like this, especially in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, I’d really appreciate the names or application process

I’m getting married next year and our relatives are spread across the country. We’re considering Rajasthan (Jaipur/Jodhpur) since it’s relatively accessible by road for most of our close relatives.
I spoke to a couple of wedding planners and they’re saying ₹65L+ is the starting budget for 200 people, which feels quite high to me.
We’re not looking for a luxury palace/resort destination wedding — just a decent venue, good food, nice decor and 2 functions (engagement + wedding).
For anyone who has actually planned a wedding in Jaipur/Jodhpur: Is ₹65L really the minimum😭, or can a decent wedding be done in ~₹35–40L? Would love to hear your actual experiences/costs and venue recommendations!

Hi everyone! I’m (29F) looking for a Kanjeevaram/Kanchipuram silk saree for my wedding invite December and would love some recommendations.
My budget is ₹20–25K max. I’m looking for something elegant and bridal but preferably lightweight/contemporary, especially pastel shades like pink, lavender, pastel green, along with red and orange with nice zari/tissue work.
I’m currently considering stores like Vijayalakshmi Silks, Katha Silks, Kanchi Apex, Nalli, Kanchee Co, etc. Are these good options within this budget, or are there better stores I should check out?
Also:
Is it significantly cheaper to buy directly in Kanchipuram compared to Bangalore?
Are there particular shops/weavers/co-ops in Kanchipuram with a really good collection in the ₹15–25K range?
I keep seeing ₹13–14K pastel Kanjeevarams from Tarun Silk House on Instagram (see picture)— has anyone bought from them? How is the quality/authenticity?
Would really appreciate recommendations from people who have actually shopped for Kanjeevaram sarees recently! Thanks in advance!❤️

I'm a skincare noob. 30 years old, have always had relatively decent skin- very few breakouts *fingers crossed*. My current skincare routine is facewash and no, not a fancy one, I've been using lakme's strawberry facewash since I was 11 and still use that because it smells like berries.
Please suggest easy things I can do to get a "bridal" glow.
No chemical peels or harsh treatments please. Also please don't break my bank.

I got rokafied in Dec last year, its hit everyone in my family and my fiances family but me up until yesterday night. Everybody got emotional but I just couldnt. I thought probably on the day of the wedding i ll realise and all emotions will come together. But it Its finally beginning to hit me that soon I will have to stay away from my parents. It breaks my heart to even think about this. My mom has a small circle with only her cousins and a few friends. Her life has always revolved around me being the only child. She is also very sensitive and easily cries. I know this is all natural and eventually she will get used to it. But that emptiness will always stay. Im almost feeling guilty for leaving her like this. I have been with my fiance since almost 7 years now so I have always had dreamt of this day. But somehow I never realised the downside of this. Its eating me up and I cant stop thinking aboutt it.
Also, I broke down in front of my fiance and he also calmed me down by saying we can ease it out for her. He is very supportive that way. But I know that emptiness will hit no matter what. I notice myself thinking of reducing to go hug her and all because I feel she will miss alll this (not that i dont do it).
Anybody has any advice on how to deal with this?? If there is anybody else who is going through something similar, dm me. I really dont want to be the only one feeling this.

Hi, this is my bridal lehenga, very happy with this. What are your opinions ? Also please give me advice if I should keep my hair open or braided. Any jewellery advice too please. Also, I wanted to know your advice on what color should be my groom’s outfit to complement mine.

On average how many bookings do you get for the 9 seasonal months since in India it is based on muhurat dates?

EDIT: This is for an Indian/Jewish wedding where we wear the same outfits for both ceremonies and I wanted something that fits the vibe for both of them! It’s not the usual red colour of course but I knew from the start I wasnt going to wear a red lehenga - all our decor, wedding party etc are in pastels too! Just wanted to wear ivory without wearing a white western bridal gown :))
Tried this on in Mumbai in December 2025, placed a customer order and it should be here in hopefully the next few weeks. Just found this Reddit thread/group so thought I’d see what everyone thinks!! The piece I’m wearing was a sample size smaller than what I needed but these photos were to try to capture what it would look like!
I also won’t be carrying a dupatta on my head, so would love to hear suggestions of different draping stules which may look good! I’m a maharashtrian bride but wanted to wear a lehenga instead of a paithani saree so it’s going to be quite different!

Honest question: if you had the choice today, would you still have the huge 300 to 800 person wedding??? I love huge weddings but feel like its getting a lot less popular with newer couples...

Im Mexican getting married to a Bengali man. I have no idea what to wear. His family isn’t on board with the marriage so I’m not going to get any help from his mom.
Lease help :(
I live in the USA specifically Arizona. I would be willing to drive within a 500 mile radius to go try on/buy something.

I’m hosting a party soon to celebrate my upcoming wedding. It will be an outdoor indoor music space. I tried on several cocktail dresses and nothing seem to work out.
Then I came across this outfit and decided to buy it in an impulsive moment of panic that I will have nothing nice to wear. I’m having so many doubts even though I love how fun it looks to wear.
I asked for the blouse to be made longer and different neckline for a more comfortable fit.
I don’t usually wear anything very dressed up but love dressing up.
I’d appreciate some honesty. Is this outfit ugly or fun and pretty? Should I look for something else?

Hi!
We’re planning a four-event Indian wedding for approximately 130 guests across all events in San Diego.
We already have our venue, planner, and bridal hair/makeup booked, but we’re still comparing or looking for recommendations in the categories below. We would especially love first-hand recommendations from couples or families who used these vendors—not just lists of popular Instagram accounts!
Photography and videography
• Approximately 18–19 active coverage hours across Haldi, Sangeet, ceremony, and reception
• Photography style: editorial, candid, emotional, colorful, and polished without feeling overly posed
• Video style: cinematic and documentary, with complete ceremony and performance/speech recordings
• Combined photo/video ceiling: approximately $20,000 all-in, including travel
DJ/MC and production
• Someone experienced with Indian and mixed-culture weddings
• Strong, fun MC who isn’t cheesy or constantly talking
• We really want someone who will listen closely to our reference mixes and playlists rather than defaulting to a generic Indian-wedding set
• A heavy mix of English/American music—especially hip-hop—with Bollywood incorporated tastefully through good transitions, mashups, and mix-ins
• Baraat audio, ceremony sound, wireless microphones, Sangeet performance playback, reception music, screens, lighting, and effects
• DJ/MC budget: up to approximately $6,000; please note any additional AV, lighting, equipment, labor, or travel costs
Florals, décor, and rentals
• Approximately $50,000 total budget across all four events
• Whimsical, elevated California-garden look rather than overly traditional décor
• Pastel Italian-garden Haldi, energetic outdoor Sangeet, natural/classy ceremony, and candlelit glam reception
• Would love someone creative about repurposing florals and rentals between events
• Also interested in independent rental companies for lounges, chairs, stages, bars, linens, specialty tables, candles, and signage
Indian catering
We’re open to either of the following scopes:
• Approximately $22,000 all-in for Haldi brunch, Indian food stations at the Sangeet, and a vegetarian post-ceremony lunch
• Approximately $12,000 for only the Indian food stations and vegetarian ceremony lunch
We’re looking for delicious food, creative menus, transparent pricing, and experience working at larger hotels.
Mehndi
• Bridal artist specializing in detailed, personalized designs with full-arm and ankle/foot coverage—ideally $750 or under
• Guest-mehndi team capable of serving a 130-person event efficiently (ideally $100/hr)
Draping
• Bridal lehenga and dupatta draping for multiple events
• Saree/lehenga draping support for family and VIP guests
Other recommendations welcome
• Local dhol player
• Ceremony violinist, strings, or Indian–Western fusion musician
• Affordable wedding content creator
• Photo booth
• Any other wonderful South Asian wedding vendors who serve the San Diego/SoCal area
For any recommendation, I’d love to know who you used, approximately what they charged, what was included, and what you particularly liked—or didn’t like—about working with them. Vendors with minimal travel fees would be especially helpful. Thank you!!

Trying to buy bridal outfits from shoppingworldyt, but unsure as apparently no one has bought from them (can’t find any reviews). Please share your experience if you bought anything with them. Thank you
