I am watching dexter for the first time and i have seen all the memes and now i feel like i am watching monalisa getting painted.

I've been thinking of how Dexter's story will end, and I really hope they dont try any of the shit they've done before. I want dexter to get away with it and reach a point he retires and dies of old age of camera, of course. Any other ending would seriously suck. Dexter must win.

Hear me out. Harry’s Code is treated as the thing that separates Dexter from the other killers in the show. He only kills people who “deserve it,” he needs proof, he avoids innocents, etc. It's what makes us support his behavior.

But my insomnia stricken brain went on a spiral last night and I started thinking about it differently. Dexter almost never had to decide for himself whether killing was actually justified. Harry already gave him the answer: You are going to kill, so here are the people you're allowed to kill.

It's subtle, but it changed a lot about how I interpret his character and psychology. For context, I have a Bachelor's in Forensic Psychology (inspired in large part by Dexter). I love analyzing characters through that lens. I even made a video about Dexter's psychology and how the Dark Passenger isn't real when Resurrection released. Now I'm tempted to make a whole other one and fall down this rabbithole.

Think about it, him never having to truly make the choice whether to kill is an incredibly convenient moral system for Dexter. He can see himself as different from the monsters he hunts without ever confronting the much harder question: What if I actually have a choice?

And I think that might be one of the biggest differences between older Dexter and Resurrection Dexter. He's spent decades blaming the Dark Passenger, Harry, his trauma, his nature.....basically anything that makes killing feel inevitable.

It makes me wonder if maybe Dexter's real character development through the decades isn't learning to control the Dark Passenger but instead finally admitting that there was never a passenger. Dexter was driving the whole time.

Last year, Resurrection Season 1 premiered on 11 July and the official trailer was released on 1st of June. Now, I was wondering if the reports are true for Resurrection Season 2 to be release on October 16 then we should at least be getting a trailer on Tuesday, September 1st.

I still can't tell if they're actually gonna premiere in October or not.

It reminds me of the show ER where a bunch of shit was going down at the hospital like shoot outs and stuff and it’s like damn, I know Chicago is crazy but come on now

Just wanted to say that I love Dexter so much. (I finished S6)

I think the quality of this show is up there with the Sopranos. Both shows have 3d characters with rich and fascinating inner lives. (eg Tony Soprano, Carmela, Dexter, Debra, etc) I love that both shows are about people who want or at least try to overcome their conditions-whether they succeed or not it's not the point. The point is that I loved Tony Soprano and his complex, inner world and Dexter in the same way-but both of these people are psychopaths. I like it when directors make you love people like this-they are not only killers but humans as well-fathers, lovers, siblings, friends, etc.

Meanwhile Dexter is working 3 jobs to sustain his NYC lifestyle.

There is a 4 year time jump between Seasons 1 and 2.

Victoria Grayson is one of the antagonists and she is one of the best tv villains of all time. Her character is really interesting! It has everything; shocking plottwists every episode, thrilling plotlines, amazing characters, teen drama, romance, beautiful settings, amazing soundtrack, great voiceovers. It's very similar to Dexter, because the main character is living a double life and pretending to be normal/sweet when they are a psycho on the inside, and take down a different person every episode. I really highly recommend it. Even though it has won awards it's still so slept on.

WHY THE FRICK WOULD THEY KILL OFF RITA??? SHES THE BEST GIRL, IT MADE ME SO SICK. I cannot watch the rest of the show why did they feel the need to do that she was so nice. I cannot recover from that and why is dex so okay with it? I hate this show man why tf would they do that this cant be true. FUCK U DEX you kept lying and lying to her until she doesnt even know what to believe and she died never knowing the truth. He lied so much and she probably doesnt even know why she's dead 🤧.

A lot of shows end up doing a what if episode, where something significant does/doesn’t happen (I know greys anatomy did at least twice, Lucifer, Psych and even Marvel made a whole series of What if’s) but can you imagine if Dexter had ever pulled one off?

Like if Laura Moser never got chopped up, Brian and Dexter would have grown up together, they may never have become murderers? They could have really leaned into nature vs nurture, like was Brian always going to end up that way?

Would Deb have grown up as a much beloved daughter without Dexter to take all of Dad’s attention? Dexter is brilliant, but probably wouldn’t have been a blood spatter analyst without the tragic backstory to push him into it.

Would Doakes and Maria have ended up together?

I’m just saying out of all the shows that do this, I would have really enjoyed imagining Dexter playing out a different way

Somebody rumoured he was gonna be in it and it got me so excited.

An actor like him would fit perfectly in the Dexter universe. He hasn't had a big iconic role since Walter white so this could've been huge for him.

But apparently he backed out or something and Brian Cox is the one they got to replace him. Such a shame we could've had one of the best Dexter characters ever but I'm sure Brian Cox will do fine.

We are the Praters museum scene. Dexter realizes he is standing infront of his biggest fan, and thus he has heavy influence over him.

He knows this billionaire wants to see him work, and has the itch to make it happen regardless of the risks.

Dexter rejects the offer to kill Batista as the price of admission. He explains his code, and Prater understands it very well, and it only increases his admiration for Dexter.

But what to do with Batista who has seen the museum and the truth of Dexter and their plans.

Dexter makes a counter-offer. He says, keep Batista alive as a prisoner in one of his isolated mansions with all comforts and luxury. Meanwhile, Dexter hunts for serial killers around the world.

Prater is excited and accepts the offer, as he is thrilled to see this happen. And he likes the idea of keeping a friend of Dexter as a psuedo hostage.

Prater reveals that Brian Moser was his best friend, after he met him at an orphanage during a charity event where he felt there is something about him. And he started the serial killer club only after Brian killed himself because of not having like minded people to talk to.

With Prater's resources, they hunt serial killers in Russia, Africa, Europe, India, Japan, Australia, South America over the next full season.

Charley works together with Dexter in these international missions as there is indeed a need for a skilled person in foreign lands. Much similar to Lumen, but highly skilled. Charly likes her new job as she anyway hated what she was doing earlier.

With praters resources, they have a mobile lab to test DNA, and other foresnsics to vet the serial killers they are about to kill in foreign countries. This can be a motorhome where they live while on mission.

They go on hunt for foreign dictatorial presidents, drug lords, organ transporters, Epstein island organizers and more. Eventually it attracts the attention of investigators when several influential people go missing or die unexplainably and an international investigation begins with someone like Lundy as the lead. They quickly sense it has something to do with New york and starts working with the Charlotte.

Basically one season of Dexter and charley hunting the most evil villains around the world. Praters money helps them get into places where they cannot by using bribes and influences. Like, otherwise how can they kill a prince of Saud in his palace in Saudi Arabia. Each episode is set in a different country in a unique theme and challenges.

After each kill, they get back together at the mansion Batista is living, and show the kill on projector for Prater to watch and have a discussion. Batista is angry, but eventually realizes the good-impact Dexter is having on the world after seeing dozens of worst people dying.

This also allows lot of morality discussion with Batista, and also discussing how past events happened. He can also openly discuss non public things like killing of trinity, ice truck killer or Jordan chase trying to convince Batista to come on his side. A talk with Batista on what happened with Doaks, Maria and Deb.

In season finale, Batista tries to escape the mansion and get shot by Prater in a self defense incident. Now, Prater knows the deal with Dexter than Batista should never be harmed.

He orders charley to secretly kill dexter before he knows what happened. He says "A Zookeeper cannot feed all his animals to feed the lion forever". Charley who is by now secretly in love with Dexter tells him the truth that she was sent to kill him, and requests him to go in hiding.

Dexter realizes Batista is dead, and hunts prater while prater has heightened his security. Dexter surprises him and kills Prater just in moment while police narrows down on Prater as the serial killer taking down international villains. Ultimately after his private museum is discovered, it becomes clear, he is the bay harbor butcher equivalent. With a new name.

The end of season.

This is the medallion that the dad of dark passenger bought. Taxi drivers used to take loans and share costs to buy this medallion for having right to drive in New York. It was considered an asset that will forever increase in price as New York has max of 13,587 taxi medallions allowed.

After Ridesharing apps came, the value of this Medallion plummeted as now anyone could just drive! The price fell from 1.4million to $90k in few months. By then there were approx 84,000 rideshare drivers!

This was not just caused by Ridesharing apps though. There was many predatory finance companies that bought the medallions and artificially increased the price to then sell it to taxi-drivers at inflated price, just before the bubble burst. And taxi drivers bought it with hefty loans.

This was largely beneficial for the people as the monopoly of taxis and the bad behavior that comes with it was gone. But, it did affect a large number of drivers who bought the medallion, and was left with massive debts.

Ultimately goverment gave a bailout, so instead of a million dollar debt, every drivers debt above $170k was taken over by the govt. But it happened in 2021, many years after the bubble burst.

Some awesome stuff at Spirit Halloween for Dexter this year. Of course I grabbed the hat, badge and hoodie!!
