➜ This match was the culmination of a months-long rivalry between CM Punk and John Morrison (formerly known as Johnny Nitro)

Because CM Punk had failed to capture the ECW Championship on multiple occasions, John Morrison granted him one final opportunity on the September 4 episode of ECW (which was taped on September 1) under a "Last Chance" stipulation. If Punk lost this match, he would never be allowed to challenge Morrison for the ECW Championship again.

The end result would see Punk defeat John Morrison to win his first-ever WWE singles championship. He held the belt for 142 days, successfully defending the championship against Elijah Burke, The Miz, and Chavo Guerrero. He eventually lost the title to Chavo Guerrero in January 2008 after interference from Edge.

With AEW All In set to begin, it reminded me of how cool it is that 26 years later, from ECW to AEW, Don Callis/Cyrus is still the main villain of pro wrestling. I just can't get over his work as a smarmy manipulative heel manager and authority figure.

A full 2 years before the famous Francine v Beulah extreme catfight took place (August 26th 1995) I say that makes this match the unofficial or official precursor to the Bra & Panties (strip match) era. I believe the ending is also the 1st time in pro wrestling history that a woman's bare breasts were fully exposed on a wrestling PPV.
