Music Looking to start a band, or people who like the same music.

Upvotes

Hello everyone, I am a 20 year old guitarist and bassist looking to start a band with people who like the same music as me. I am absolutely obsessed with krautrock bands like Can, neu, amon düül, and La Düsseldorf, and want to make music with anyone else who is interested in krautrock as well. I am also very into psychedelic rock like the 13th floor elevators, Blue cheer, cream, iron butterfly, Ride, my bloody valentine and spacemen 3. I have some gear ive acquired over the years and a few guitars and basses. I also have a drum machine, but if you are someone who can play like Jaki Liezbezeit, or Klaus Dinger i would happily make music with you. I also own almost 400 albums from various genres so i am also up to talk to anyone who likes similar music.

Hello! My wife and I are celebrating our two year marriage anniversary, and we are both in a mental bind of where we should celebrate at.

If any of you have any ideas that would be wonderful. Preferably on the west side, it doesn’t have to be super fancy, just something nice for a cute date.

Thank you all!! ☺️💗

Ask El Paso Any Avid Crocheters In El Paso???

Upvotes

Hi guys!

I’m very nervous to post this but here we go! I’ve been working on creating a website with various crochet calculators/tools. It’s meant to be something to help crocheters with pattern resizing instead of trial and error or difficult math!

You know when you stare at something for too long and then you can no longer identify what needs to be fixed? That’s me right now hahaha.

I’m hoping to have a few people look at it and give me their honest feedback. I promise you won’t hurt my feelings! I just want someone other than me to look at it haha. Thank you so much in advance!

Rant West Texas Cimmaron Canyon Veterinary Clinic

Post image
119 Upvotes

TL;DR: Veterinarians in the United States suck. If it’s time to close, they are out the door.

Mine and my wife’s 11 year old English Bulldog passed away today. She violently vomited and her gums and tongue went pale. While her normal vet is in Juarez, I rushed her to West Texas Cimmaron Canyon Veterinary Clinic. They ran bloodwork on her. While they didn’t go so far as to say she was OK, they made it pretty clear that they were going to close. So, they were going to administer fluids and a medication to help with vomiting. Minutes later, the veterinarian came in and told me that she collapsed, didn’t have a heartbeat, and they were trying to resuscitate her.

I called my wife and she rushed down within minutes. They succeeded in resuscitating her. They gave her a few minutes to stabilize and let us in, warning that she wasn’t responsive. Just as my wife was telling me to go in and let her go and be put to sleep, the vet called us in. My wife and I went in with our infant son and she perked up. After a few more minutes, she lifted her head up. We were able to give her kisses and tell her “I love yous”, but not goodbye.

At this point, this clinic felt it best to get her out the door. Because, well, they were closing. They assured us she was stable and could make the trip. They put her in the back of my truck and sent us to the Emergency Vet near Redd and I-10.

I rushed our dog there. She was already gone. While the Emergency Vet will make you pay dearly, they did their best to resuscitate her, spending nearly an hour with chest compressions and stimulants. When I was checking out, I told the lady at the front desk of what had happened and she was appalled. She had said that if they had given her more time to stabilize she may have at least survived the trip and given us the chance of a proper goodbye.

You see, I was ready to ask them to let us say goodbye and give her medicine to put her to sleep. They wanted us out the door. So, it’s like they gave us false hope so that we would leave so they could lock the door. We left about 15 minutes after their posted closing time.

Our beautiful dog of 11 years (born 9 Aug 2015), the one born on our 1st anniversary, the one that saw my wife and I through joy, pain, sadness, tragedy, victory and everything in between, died in the back of my truck near the corner of Redd and Southwestern.

If I had just taken her to our vet in Juarez, they would have kept vigil. They wouldn’t have kicked us out. They would have had the diagnostic equipment besides $300 bloodwork draws to figure out the problem. It’s just with the pale gums and tongue, I was afraid that I wouldn’t have made it. I’m kicking myself now.

Sorry for the rant folks.

Ask El Paso Visiting ElPaso in January for a week, lots of questions

My wife and I are in our mid 60's and like to spend a week or more in a place we have never been before. What attracts me to ElPaso is its weather, low humidity and my wife is deathly afraid of snakes. I have heard that due to the cold nights ElPaso does not have a lot of snakes.

We love walking and biking, not really into hiking off trails due to her fear of snakes. She loves parks and gardens so we usually try and hit some up.

Any suggestions on which part of town we should not rent a VRBO in? Any things we def need to see?

Ask El Paso Good place to run a lot of miles on Saturday morning

Visiting EP this weekend, and although I grew up here in didn't really run back then.

Currently training for a marathon so gotta get in 16 miles on Saturday morning. Was looking for good places to run. I'm not opposed to just getting out of my place and just running on sidewalk for 8 miles and back, but was wondering if there's better options.

I'm planning to run on Sunday at Scenic Drive since they close it for cars.

Staying in the East Side, by Hanks Highschool but have access to a car.

From the article

"If you have temporary protected status because you escaped from inhumane conditions in another country, ICE might now summon you to an ICE office and put a monitor around your ankle — even if you have no criminal history and are in full compliance with your immigration status. The Trump regime has unilaterally revoked temporary protected status and claims the ankle monitors are necessary to track people whom it may want to deport at some point.

You’re not even safe if you’re a U.S. citizen born in America. ProPublica has found that more than 170 U.S. citizens have been wrongfully detained by ICE agents in raids and protests over a recent nine-month span. It described cases involving alleged force and multiday detention without access to counsel or communication.

Some estimates put the number of U.S. citizens subjected to ICE as much higher, but there’s no way of knowing because there’s no legal process for filtering out and protecting American citizens, just as there’s no legal process for protecting anyone else who’s here legally. Trump’s police state is extrajudicial, and it’s being done in secret."

Ask El Paso Affordable El Paso wedding photographer recommendation?

Looking for a wedding photographer in El Paso for Oct. 3, 2026. We need about 4–5 hours of coverage and are hoping to stay around $500–$800.

Main priorities are ceremony, couple/family photos, first dances, and a digital gallery. We don’t need albums, prints, or a big wedding package.

If you’ve personally used someone you liked, who was it and roughly what did you pay?

Ask El Paso Anyone bought a home from Indigo Homes (El Paso)? Looking for real buyer experiences

I’ve been looking at a few new-construction homes built by Indigo Homes LLC around Gateway Estates

I’ve never heard of them before but rumors are they have a custom design by architect! My and my fiance went to a 4B/3bath home with an indoor mini garden !

We loved them home , but I notice a few things:

  1. the home was built and finished since April and concerned as to why hasn’t it sold already

  2. In the front of the home a stone tablet has been found loose and concerned over the quality

  3. ( minor/personal) the other new homes have prebuilt LAN/Ethernet ports prewired all over the house while this home only has COAX which is disappointing

Why we pushing for this home ? Their preferred lender has given us a pretty good deal / incentives on the home that make it really appealing! We have already been preapproved and are signing the papers for a contract today

I’m just having difficult finding buyer reviews online, if anybody has an experience in his home, please let me know!

Rant El Paso is something else

Just saw a post of another person ranting about how people from El paso lack basic manners. Alot of people were saying it seems like they are “the problem” since those people i guess dont have the same experience here.

I can confidently say as someone who has state and city hopped especially in texas that El Paso is by far the worst city i have ever had the opportunity to live in. Don’t get me wrong there are some great aspects but the people here are the worst. As a Mexican American even. I encounter rude people no matter when i go out, wether its not knowing personal space and boundaries in stores, men following you around and cat calling, shoulder checks from people who cant seem to see you i guess, lack of respect towards customer service workers, reckless drivers, man even sometimes anyone who doesnt know spanish seems to get shamed

i have met some pretty cool people in el paso but it 100% doesnt hide the fact that the people here are not that nice. Even Corpus Christi has nicer people lol. I dont know if its just a different typa culture here but the only time people here even show u slightest bit of respect, is if you have a uniform on. and even then, it doesnt matter 😭.

Ask El Paso Any good psychiatrists or phycologists that treat schizophrenia in Juarez?

Hi! I live in Northern California and my brother lives with my family down in El Paso. My brother was diagnosed with schizophrenia about 10 years ago and he has been doing very poorly for the last few years. My mom is his care taker and she is constantly having to fight the insurance company for medication he needs. She also struggles with maneuvering the health care system in El Paso, she has tried multiple doctors, but no one is able to see him for more that a couple times a month. The health care system seems like it's extremely overwhelmed especially with mental health. I feel like we'd have better luck in Juarez since it's a huge city, and the country has a more civilized healthcare system. Does anyone happen to know any good doctos or clinics down there that specialize in this type of mental health treatment?

Ask El Paso I am looking for OB-GYN in El Paso after birth trauma

Hi all,

We're moving to El Paso this fall. I had a very traumatic delivery with my first - compounded by some poor communication on the medical team's part. Overall really bad experience.

Looking to establish care thinking another baby will hopefully eventually be on the horizon but wanting for a more positive and supportive experience this time around.

Any recommendations would be appreciated for either practices or physicians :)

Ask El Paso Can someone help me determine if I’m getting scammed?

Hi,

I recently purchased a house that had electrical issues on the outside panel.

It caused my ac to explode basically, so I got a number from an electrician in EP but I’m not sure if he would be doing a good job or not.

So he said he would be opening a city permit, and charge me 160 Dlls. I called the city and it seems that that was true.

Then he told me he needed to wait for EP electric to remove a thing from the panel so that he could start working, but nothing has happened since.

Does EP electric takes more time for that?

He says he is replacing my panel to ensure a double tap is fix and is not existent anymore. As well as making sure everything in the home inspection mentioned is corrected.

However the guy I got I found it on Fb. Also his wife seems to be promoting their business but it is not a very well known business. It seems like it’s not even his sole business.

Is it true that the city must inspect the work once he closes the permit? Would the City inspector recall if something is off? Is changing the panel a complex project? Does ep electric usually takes more days to open the thing to work on the panel?

Thanks for reading!

Also if it's a city park or other municipal property is doing the same, reward the one reporting with a credit to apply towards property taxes or other city fines or bail reductions
