I showed Umamusume to one of the betting cage operators in Vegas (Mandalay Bay, was there on business) and he said “Wait, this shit is why we had those folks cheering the tracks in school girl costumes?”
I went to the Japanese-ish store at the mall and saw a Vodka figure there. When I brought it up to the front, the guy asked if I knew why he'd sold eight of them in the last week.
I think it is a good thing tbh, the game that will bring new blood to a slowly dying sport(not sure about the US and Japan, but in SEA it is basically a dying sport)
Pretty much yeah, we just have a meeting at Thailand race club early this month and now me and my friends pretty much showing up on every other weekend race cheering for real horse.
Those betting uncle keep talking with us why there's so many young people in weird costume coming to see the race haha.
I mean, atleast for gacha games like Umamusume it's a guaranteed loss since you won't ever make money from it, so you should never spend money that can make you bankrupt.
Real gambling on the other hand... especially online gambling is fucked up. So many people destroyed their lives because of it.
I feel like what fucks with a lot of gacha content creators is being sucked into the cycle of video production that necessitates pulling as it is a form of investment.
They turned gacha gambling into real gambling by forming an entire business around it.
Depends. I make content creator. I have a separate account for all the money I make from content creation. I make a good chunk more than I spend and basically budget half my earnings to be reinvested into gacha game pulling and the other half into upgrading my setup.
Id rather spend all the money on gacha and write it off on my taxes than give 50% of it to the government.
It's still thriving in Japan especially after Umamusume. The combination of horse racing being the only form of gambling allowed in Japan + just casual fans enjoying horse racing work wonders.
I think the big races in the US still doing great (Especially Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup), altho idk about the other races since I've seen plenty of G1 races with barely any racers.
Was in Vegas. Saw IRL Uma Musume machine. I world lose so much money if it was really Uma Musume themed and showed idol concerts on the screen after every race.
