(Global) News So apparently, Mongil, the game everyone thought is a pure waifu game, added 4 male characters OUT OF NOWHERE last minute, and that they're also the last male characters ever to be released

Post image

I'm sorry i just can't fathom their logic. because what do you mean you added male characters right before launch? they were not mentioned anywhere, not part in any beta tests. they already established an audience that likes the direction and thought "let's randomly add male characters at launch" and thinks their "target audience" is gonna like it? lol

"absolutely necessary for the narrative" what does that even mean??????? you could turn every character in genshin a male or female and it would STILL have the same story, nothing will change.

the only reason i could think of is they wanted publicity, because this is an absurd move, they wanted to be "controversial" to gain attention, because i swear this game has been gaining attention BECAUSE it added male characters out of nowhere.

but it's netmarble so i highly recommend don't Play it.

You know, I read this message ofr a solid minute and I still can't grasp a reason or a logic for adding them lmao. even drama baiting doesn't work becuase who has even heard of this game after the male release except for poeple who tested the open beta?

Edit: why it is that sometimes when I use > to male the quote reddit quotes like it should when sometimes it doesn't?

"We worked on this so we have to cram it into the product even though it no longer fits"

Well prior to the reveal of the playable male characters there were some controversies that also had to do with male characters in this game. Like how the original MC/POV was going to be the team pet and not the Male MC so it felt like you would get cucked by the Male MC since you weren't the MC you were just an animal pov. But they clarify that the POV would be the Male & Female MCs and not the pet.

Another was how a female playable character was part of a Valentine's Day promo which was aimed at the players and then her profile came out which had her life revolving entirely around some male npc. The devs later apologized and said that the relationship between the two was not meant to be read romantically (kinda like how in CZN there was a similar situation involving a male playable character brushing his female NPC secretary, non-romantically apparently) that it would be rewritten (the male npc was later changed to female and then quietly dropped), and that there will not be any relationships between men and women unless it's the MC.

I don't know why they thought it was a good idea to include male characters after these incidents.

It seems like regret for adding them. They probably saw some pissy social media comments from weirdos and went "O-ok!! No more males! Just some male NPCs maybe if the game needs it in the future! Sorry we screwed up and had some launch males! That wasn't our original direction and we are going back to our original direction."

I haven't seen those comments, at least in global, because majority of global comments were like "this is bait, don't play it".

But again, very stupid, i mean male characters were added at the very last minute:/ who's the genius that thought it's gonna achieve something.

There's no chance global is the customers they are concerned about lol.

I thought the same, but the adition is such a last minute thing that baffles me.

EDIT: in the sense, I barely hear anyone talking about this game even from a drama standpoing. I do becuase hte beta was fun enough.
