General Popularity chart of gacha games at an anime con in China as of May 2026.

Red dots=like, black dots=dislike.

Covered up games in images 3 & 7 are Snowbreak Honor of Kings & Reverse 1999, respectively.

EDIT: Image 3 is actually Honor of Kings, not Snowbreak. “SB” over HoK’s square means 傻逼(sha bi)=stupid/idiot/dumbass/asshole. Although HoK isn’t a gacha, it’s up there with a few other mobile games that are popular in China.

Part 2 thread with Arknights, Endfield, Nikki, and other games cut off in these pics here: https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/s/yvlpDV499B

just to be sure, is this r1999? if so holy shit i might have severely underestimated how much CN is disliking the games direction

Seems to be according to OP and the 1999 in the top right corner of the box.

Yeah, Bluepoch has the whole house mad.

oh my god. as day 1 players this is worrying to see. I saw the devs addressed somethings but since had spoilers I didn't read it. seems it wasn't enough and CN will only fold if BP actually manage to balance the games direction.

Tbf I feel like a feel of the reasons CN players are complaining is plain stupid, like the story direction or the whole Merel debacable.

But I dont rly know which are the biggest complaints, so its possible its more about the whole top-up and monetization stuff

I think it's a combination of severe powercreep = monetisation. Have an anniversary stream primarily promoting merch over game content = monetisation.
Just built up annoyance and disappointment after seeing that an anniversary patch failed to deliver or mend anything but only showed BP's greed.

Honestly I'd say most of it is on Merel's stupid death. I literally haven't been playing the game properly for more than a year and felt dumbfounded after seeing the treatment she's receiving just for BP to sell Rhiannon. Actually outrageous. Ofc the top ups are also part of the issue but I'd say the core is mistreating characters. + where the 37 euphoria dawg. Oh and ofc the clothing designs are getting more typical. Some people say it's downright revealing and disrespectful but even if I were to state things from a less radical perspective, they're worse than before

I honestly would have never guessed cn hates the game so much. Tbh maybe im not chronically gacha but I havent really noticed or would agree with that huge writeup that guy made.

My impression of r1999 even to this day is its just a great game with great characters and a greay story

The characters and story are great, it's just that the latest anniversary patch (which is the finale of 3.X) ended with a highly beloved NPC who was present for three main story patches and had substantial character development suddenly being "killed off" and then replaced by a new character with her face which is fair game regarding Reverse's lore. If anything, I think the latest CN story is great given it proved nothing is certain and that "killing off" said character only makes the protagonist and the players feel what other characters in the story feel. It's just the matter of some fans being too parasocial regarding its characters.

The other primary issue and one I do agree with is the power creep, especially the endgame content where the latest endgame seem impossible to beat unless you pull for the character/team that the mode is blatantly shilling.

With collab just around the corner, I'm not sure if they can try to wait it over.

Plus collab's reception from what I've seen is already rather tepid and confused (and not in fun way, like AK and MLP).

Wow. Thought reverse 1999 was well liked. They put so much production value into their art direction and voice overs, etc. in the story. I haven't really noticed power creep. I know new, stronger units are releasing, but my core units from half a year ago seem to be clearing well (nautika and such), and it's one of the most generous gacha games on the market it terms of the weapons being free, double the 6* rate of other games like hoyo/WuWa (1.5% vs. .8%), and much more free pulls. Guess CN being 3 months in the future isn't going well for them.

if you play for story again the powercreep doesn't matter at all. in the CN side you know how competitive they are and made it worse that the euphoria material is difficult to get, there is big reward in endgame content but the difficulty is too high that you have to use powercreep comp and unit.
