Born in 1911 in Löningen near Oldenburg.
Ordained a priest in Münster in 1936.
From 1940, chaplain of the Army Sanitation Replacement and Training Battalion, Military District VI. From July 1941, a local parish priest in Rennes. From January 1943, divisional chaplain of the Sowjetunion [Eastern Front] division, and from October 1944 divisional chaplain in Metz (Saarland).
In 1945, he was taken prisoner by the Americans. After the war, Wöste was diocesan president of the KAB and head of the Bonn Diocesan Association of German Bishops. From 1977 to 1986, he was a bishop in the Diocese of Münster.

Photo found inside his pocket booklet. Booklet has a 1944 calendar inside. Only writing of note in the booklet is the following:

This gentleman is said to have been of considerable use, was very proper/correct, and showed concern/care at the time of his capture. As a result there is a loss of correspondence; he is in the hospital and must be transferred (or his stay extended). From his [side]. Because of professional knowledge, good work; and since the general situation has changed, he should hurry a great deal — beforehand the time of a return home is unpredictable.

Pastor Josef Buslay served as a parish priest in communities of the Diocese of Trier from 1948 onward.

Josef Buslay - I must say that during all those years I did not encounter a single military chaplain who sympathized with National Socialism. They were all—truly all—determined opponents of the Nazis.

I have no context on this picture I acquired these some years ago on my phone. Don’t remember where I got them I have several more but so as not to overwhelm everyone I’m just posting one at a time. I am very curious about this plane. Wish there was more than one photo and a better angle.

Unfortunately i don’t know much about his story. He entered the Wehrmacht in 1937-38 as a "Offiziersanwärter“
In august 1939 he got promoted to Leutnant and got the ek2.
My information is that he was the whole war on the eastern front, was taken prisoner in march 1945 by soviet troops and was released 1949.
